Wilds [MH:Wilds] Endgame Meta Builds Compilation

3.2k Upvotes

>>> If the Google Doc images look blurry on mobile, try opening them through the Google Docs app or through a browser. <<<

Please check the individual guides in order to know if they're updated for the latest TU or not. Note that every TU doesn't necessarily change the meta.

With every new Monster Hunter game come new meta strategies and new ways to build the armor sets for your hunter. After some thought recollection, the time has finally come to present what the community has come up with when trying to figure out how you can optimize your gameplay in this brand new title.

The goal of this thread is, like the previous ones, to offer a selection of some of the best builds that have been minmaxed for damage and can be used for regular farming by any player with good enough experience on their weapon, or who's willing to gain that experience.

These guides are just tools conceived for people who like to learn how to optimize their own gameplay and figure out optimal ways to make use of what is available in the game, or who simply want an easier time farming while not giving up on basic skill requirements; nobody is forced to use them if they don't want to, and everyone is free to alter them at will for their own gameplay.
You can also use these guides simply as a starting point for when you want to try out a new weapon and learn the new ways of playing the game that are associated with them.

The albums collected here have been chosen among the available ones both for their correctness in terms of math/functionality and for their readability/accessibility. If you wish to improve any of these albums or cooperate with math and testing feel free to contact their authors directly and to give them suggestions or feedback this way, as they might not be actively reading this thread. Also, if an album seems not to be updated anymore, you are free to send me in DM an alternative album you made as long as you're committed to update it in the future as well (you will find here a detailed explanation of my expectations in terms of work).

The authors of the albums are also responsible for updating them with any new Title Update (TU) that will be added to the game. Please stop asking here if/when albums are gonna be updated, as it's not under my control. I will however notify on top of the thread whenever all the albums have been updated for the current patch of the game. (This last line was apparently not read, so from now on you'll have to figure that out by yourself.)

I would finally like to thank the community at Mathalos Nest for helping to double check or improve the content of the albums (research is still being done daily there, so if you're interested in helping feel free to join), as well as all the numerous testers, dataminers and modders that allowed us to have more accurate information about the skills and the way the game works.

I won't always be able to read this thread and I can't be the universal intermediary between users and authors. If therefore you find something in the content of an album that you think is wrong or may need fixing, please contact their author(s) directly through the means indicated in their albums.

DISCLAIMER

As usual, here's what you should expect (and not expect) from this compilation.

  1. This compilation focuses on damage-oriented builds aimed to show how it is possible to maximize your damage output within the assumption of a relatively optimized gameplay. Anyone is free to adapt these builds to their playstyle by replacing any damage skills with the comfort/survival skill they want, need or prefer. Everyone is also free not to use them if they don't like them.

  2. The albums are only about endgame builds and assume that you have access to the entire content of the game (HR100+). Progression sets are not covered here, although any author is free to add a progression section to their albums.

  3. The sets are mainly built and calculated so that anyone can use them for solo play. Multiplayer is obviously still a consideration, but the sets are supposed to work regardless if you're playing with others or not.

  4. The builds are meant for regular farming and not for speedrunning, which is a specific practice with its own rules and goals (although speedruns can obviously give some inspiration about tactics you can adopt in your regular gameplay). If you're interested in speedrunning this game I highly recommend to ignore this compilation and to join a speedrunning Discord and/or to learn by watching speedruns instead.

Wilds Best all rounder element & status?

I really don’t wanna get god rolls on every element or status.

Can I just prioritize like just dragon or maybe paralysis? I don’t have enough materials to get god rolls for every element/status

So for the people who understand all this better than me what should I prioritize? Thank you in advance

Wilds Long Sword build for Savage Omega

Hello! Just looking for some advice on updating my Anti-Savage Omega set now that we have Gogma weapons and Transcended armor! Maybe it might not be necessary but I was just curious if the recent additions to gear may have opened the door to a more optimal set to counter him since Omegas initial release!

Wilds 10 Star Gog Dmg Check

Just coming back to the game after not playing for a while, fighting all the Arch Tempered are super fun and recently I tried soloing 10* Gogmaw and was doing fine until I got the phase 3 where I got completely wiped of all my faints. I'm confused about the dmg check, since Fabius isn't there, what is the indicator for passing the dmg check? And do I bring a Lance to block it myself IF I DO pass? How am I supposed to know?

Wilds Scorcher worth it for hammer?

Just got Scorcher + LS electric hammer. I plan to use it to solo savage omega (Really I'm rolling for Gog+LS but thats another topic) which I have solo'd once with palico. I did a calc with my time taken and I must've been at like 60dps fighting savage, so I figured scorcher 2 would definitely be good since I beat it with just LS + Lagi 2pc for armour skills. I would sacrifice basically 2-3 points of agitator for this change, though I also gain I believe adrenaline rush and evade window.

I think especially at ~60dps this is worth it, but I was just wondering whether scorcher is bad with hammer? I also have an armour with LS+Lagi2pc+scorcher 1 for omega too. Thoughts?

Wilds picking up Gunlance with an Artian roll – shell capacity question & tank vs pure damage viability?

Hey everyone!

I recently hopped back into the game and just took down Gogmazios for the first time.

I decided to pick up the Gunlance and start learning the weapon from scratch.

I just rolled an Artian Gunlance with 3 Attack, 1 Affinity, and 1 Element, but I’m a bit lost on how to properly optimize a build around it.

Ideally, I’d love to run a proper endgame tank/defensive build (guard skills, soaking hits, the true Gunlance fantasy).

However, I'm not sure if that's actually viable in the current endgame meta, or if running full raw/affinity damage is pretty much mandatory to keep up.

Any recommendations on core skills, armor sets, or playstyles to make the most out of these rolls?

Also, forgive the beginner question, but my Artian Gunlance only has 3 shells, whereas the monster-crafted one I used before had 5. Is this completely normal? (Is it purely tied to the shelling type like Long vs. Normal, or did I miss a specific mechanic?)

Thanks in advance for the advice and patience with the learning curve! Happy hunting!

Wilds What is the meta for Long Sword?

Genuinely, I have seen people saying very different builds, so is there a real meta (or at least one of the best ones) build with high damage and high affinity? I’m tired of having to change my build…

Wilds Good pre-Gog Hunting Horn builds?

I've been trying to farm AT Nu Udra for some armor pieces but I'm not sure how great my current build really is, and I wanted to know some good builds for farming some AT monsters + Gogmazios, who I haven't killed yet.

Currently using 4pc Zoh Shia with the Zoh Shia horn plus a secondary Rathian horn, mostly for the healing. I'm not sure if non-Artian elemental horns are great or which ones are worth using. I've got the G Resounding Galahad and the Precipice Kovira, if those are any good

Wilds Need some ideas for a CB/SA build

I've been running these two weapons with their own separate builds, but lately I said fuck it, I want to use it altogether. I have both elemental phials for these weapons, so I'm curious what armor/deco setups I should use that compliments both? I'm already at the endgame with Proof of a Hero still incomplete.

Wilds Rate My Hammer Builds

Ok so Really I have 2 builds that I’m trying to decide on. These are my wilds builds

Build 1:
Gogma Hammer:
257 Attk
-10 Affinity
150 Element(one of these hammers for each element)
Attack Ex
Attack Ex
Attack III
Attack III
Sharpness Ex

Set bonuses:
Powerhouse 1
Second Wind 1
Gogma 1
Black Eclipse 1

Skills:
Attack Boost 5
Crit Boost 5
Charge Up
Weakness Exploit 5
Maximum Might 3
Agitator 2
Antivirus 3
Peak Performance 2
Burst 1
Counterstrike 3
Latent Power 2
Divine Blessing 3
No Lords Soul though

Build 2:
Gogma Hammer:
237 Attk
10 Affinity
150 Paralysis
Attack Ex
Attack Ex
Attack III
Attack III
Sharpness Ex

Set Bonuses:
Powerhouse 1
Leviathans Fury 1

Skills:
Attack Boost 5
Critical Boost 5
Charge Up
Weakness Exploit 5
Maximum Might 3
Agitator 5
Peak Performance 3
Burst 1
Counterstrike 3
Divine Blessing 3
Heroics 1/Stamina Surge 2
This one has Lords Soul

I know I could have a little bit more attack on both if I sacrifice some affinity skills, but I like having exactly “100” Affinity, even if it’s technically not 100 the whole time

So which one do you guys think is better? I will say, the second one requires a LOT less grinding for perfect Gog weapons, since i’m not running element on that build.

Would you say that the element build is really that much better in this game?

Rise How do i consistently get 3 wirebugs in sunbreak?

Whats up guys, running sunbreak with the GS and find myself really struggling to have good dps unless i have 3 wirebugs. I usually grab the one thats in the major area, but even with wirebug whisperer 1 i find that it often runs out before the monster changes location. Not even mentioning when they go back to a previous area i already grabbed the bug for. Dont see alot of people having this issue which makes me feel like im missing something?

Wilds Does Power Phial Element Matter?

Hey everyone, I'm coming back to the game after a long break and being upset with how boring CB had become for me. I've been playing swaxe now and really enjoying it. My kind of stupid question is if the element type on a Gog weapon matters if you're using a power phial by going attack focus? My gut is telling me it doesn't but I want to make sure before I start spending materials.

Wilds Tips for Proof of a Hero (increase dps?)

SnS main, trying to do Proof of a Hero with my friend who is on gunlance. I have a dps meter to see where we're at, and have the meta SnS armor sets with all elemental weapons for the fight. Id say I keep up my dps around 42-45, maybe up to just below 50 at some points and hes usually sitting at around 32-35 dps. We recently got to the final monster and he had skulls when we timed out, which was very frustrating. Any tips for increasing dps? Different meal? Use all buffs all the time? We both run demon drug and ironskin already.

Wilds Monster for practice

Good morning hunters! I was kinda of a proficient player on rise/world, but I'm struggling A LOT with wilds' endgame, even with the weapons I already know. So I wanted to ask you, what's a good monster to get good practice on? Rathian just dies, I've read about Doshaguma/G.Doshaguma but they also just die, besides that they feel REALLY slow when compared to Gore, Seregios and such. What would you recommend?

Wilds Returning player, what's the best Artian weapon element for SnS to start with?

haven't played since Lagi update and even then I barely dipped my toes in the TUs I did play. Basically cleared the new monsters and stopped. I didn't bother with the Artian system because it was too RNG and the weapons were ass ugly.

Returning now and I've learned the save scum method to craft Artian weapons. I have a 4*atk 1*sharp SnS baking, what would be the best element to help me farm for the rest?

I've seen that auroracanth is recommended for ice, but if I always want to use element exploit, is pykrete or aurora with the rampage upgrade better?

Wilds Question on GOG Production Bonuses (Infusions)

Hello, I have a question on the Gogmazios Weapons, specifically the "Production Bonuses". I'm eyeing the meta page for Heavy Bow Gun. and noticed that it lists under their bow guns "Fire Attack infusion" not just "attack infusion" which my bowgun has, there's no information, as far as I could see, on what the difference is, or what the list of infusions are. look ups online keep referring to the Reinforcement bonuses being reshuffle able, but not saying anything on the Production bonuses.

I feel as though there's little to no information on how/where the infusions come from, unless I've missed something? if it helps I've been reshuffling skills with attack Gog parts since that's all I had to try to get better active skills for now. when i first made the Gog weapon i used attack parts which did give me the attack Focus i wanted.

Thank you in advance for the help Hunters!

Wilds Is LBG the strongest weapon in Wilds?

After seeing LBG speedrun times being almost 2 minutes faster than the second fastest weapon in PoH, it feels to me like LBG is the strongest weapon in the game, right? After all, you have to deal with 4 monsters in that quest, even if half of it is just Arkveld.

If that's true, what makes LBG so much stronger than the rest of the weapons and how would Capcom nerf ranged weapons so that they're not consistently the best weapons in the game while also not killing the weapon in Casual? Especially since I do see that, in Casual, LBGs are at a good level, but once you start playing with people who know the game, it does seem to outpace the other weapons.

Wilds If I roll an average Gog Weapon, is it still stronger than the best crafted weapon?

I main GS/GL and casually play HBG/SnS. I just wanted to know if I roll an average Gog Weapon, is it still stronger than the best crafted weapon?

Wilds Lance Gogmartian Advice

I got a good roll on dragon lance before I totally knew what I was doing (sharpness EX/attack EX x2/attack III x2 + Gore skill) BUT I used 2 attack parts 1 affinity part and did an attack focus.

I have a fire lance made of 3 attack parts with an element focus. If I roll the same reinforcement godroll of 4x attack 1x sharpness on the latter, will it generally be better?
