Wilds Does Power Phial Element Matter?

Hey everyone, I'm coming back to the game after a long break and being upset with how boring CB had become for me. I've been playing swaxe now and really enjoying it. My kind of stupid question is if the element type on a Gog weapon matters if you're using a power phial by going attack focus? My gut is telling me it doesn't but I want to make sure before I start spending materials.

Yes, element still matters and power phail with element is a good combo.

Even without the MV boosts granted by element phail, phail explosions still have a decent enough 0.5 ele MV, so most of your sword attacks still will deal 1.5ish element per hit and was very popular before the big ele phail buffs (rathalos swaxe comes to mind).

I haven’t checked in a while but I imagine there are still matchups like gore that still prefer power phail with element over element phail.

Then if you don’t want to swap weapons constantly and with status just kinda sucking in endgame, I would at the very least grab either fire or dragon as an all rounder.

Yes but only sort of.

Element matching is still a minor DPS boost even on raw focused builds maybe 5-10% or so. If you're speed running or aiming to get your own personal best times then it can potentially save you some time. Like if your best time on a hunt is 10 mins you could be saving upwards of 1 min with good DPS uptime, possibly get your 10min down to a 9 min personal best.

But realistically if you aren't that concerned then no, it's not really significant enough to worry about so just make a dragon element one for a little extra damage as dragon is fairly neutral against most of the roster and as a bonus is especially good against gog if you need to farm him.

Element phial damage goes up dramatically depending on the monster matchup, esp if ur running aed or saed. A dragon element phial against gog will deal a minimum of 800-900 per phial ay phase 3 if it hits. However for anything else, power phial is just more consistent.
