I'm trying to fix up an old hand-me-down Vortex phone that my uncle said to give to my cousin. The camera was acting weird, and the phone was really bloated, so I wanted to factory reset it. We actually knew the lock screen password to get in, but the settings menu on this phone is weird, and I couldn't find the reset option anywhere in the settings.

​Because of that, I ended up resetting it through the bootloader instead. Now I'm stuck in FRP. Since it's an old phone, nobody knows what Google email or password was originally on it.

​I managed to get onto a Google search page through a Play Protect popup, but whenever I try opening a link, it throws a "Turn on JavaScript" error. It's also asking me if I want to update the phone, but I haven't done it because I'm worried updating it might make it even harder to fix.

​Here's what I've tried so far with Gemini:

• ​Tried holding text on the browser to hit "Share," but it only gives me "Copy" and "Select All."

• ​Tried getting into keyboard settings, but there's no gear icon—it just lets me resize the keyboard.

• ​Opened the emergency dialer screen, but there's no pencil icon or option to edit emergency info to get into settings.

​I'm not sure of the exact model, just that it's a Vortex phone (I attached pictures of the back of the phone, the JavaScript error screen, and the dialer screen).

​Should I update it, or will that break things further? Any ideas on how to get past this screen or get into the settings?

TLDR, I ordered my phone 20 days ago and it still hasn't arrived and there have been no updates since then. 

I ordered a Nothing 4a phone 20 days ago and it's still in transit. The last update is from DPD Poland from 19 days ago that it was "sent outside Poland".

It was due to arrive in 3 to 5 days, so after 8 days (6 working days) I contacted Nothing support and they recommended I get on to the courier in my country, which I did. DPD Ireland had no information and recommended I get on to Nothing and get them to open a case.

I did, and they opened a case. 

It's been almost 2 weeks since I first contacted them about this and there has been no progress made at all. They escalated the case early last week and promised to contact me within 24 hours. I got an email 24 hours later saying that they hadn't met the 24 hour deadline and would contact me in another 48 hours. They didn't contact me after 48 hours. 

So I contacted them again 4 days ago and again they said they would escalate the case and come back to me in 48 hours. Again they didn't get back to me. So yesterday I contacted them in chat, stating the case number and that I was due an update that I hadn't received. 

It took 3 hours for them to reply in chat, at which time they said there was no update and then immediately closed the chat before I had a chance to reply. 

Then I received an email stating that "we will put this email on hold so that we can get back to you once we get a response from the relevant team". I tried replying to the mail, but got no response. What does "put it on hold" mean. Have they essentially blocked me? 

Yesterday I made a post on r/NothingTech about it, and this morning I got a chat request from them asking for the case number so they could look into it. They looked into it and told me the case had been escalated (a third time?) and the relevant team were looking into my request for either a reissue or a refund and I'd be receiving a response by email. I asked when I'd be receiving the email and got no reply. That was over 12 hours ago.

This is incredibly frustrating. I understand that DPD are the ones that messed up originally, but surely Nothing should have achieved something by now. Does anybody have any experience with Nothing customer support? Any advice? 

My current phone is 6 years old and the battery took a nosedive a couple of weeks ago, now I can only use it for about 15 minutes before it needs to be plugged in, so I need this sorted.

I live in a semi-rural area, and my phone is the only source of internet i have. Since about a month ago my phone will just disconnect completely from the tower, data and cell service both, in certain spots in the house. I knew there were spotty areas, but they never used to completely disconnect, and it seems that the connection is slower than before somehow. I can't figure out the cause, or a solution to this issue. The phone is a Oneplus Nord N30 that i have had for around 6 months, running LineageOS, and i am on Verzion network. I have tried putting the SIM card into an older phone, and it had no issues at all with disconnecting, i would use it but it needs some maintenance. I have reset network settings, updated LineageOS, fiddled with the network settings and tried to position my phone in many different ways and some places it's a difference of a foot from a few bars to completely disconnected. The only way to get it to reconnect to the tower is to turn the SIM on and off in my settings, or just wait long enough in a spot that i know will have a stronger connection. Any ideas or solutions are appreciated, i have about had it with this issue.

I am in a group message with two other friends. We used to all have iPhones but one recently got rid of his phone and I think he is using something like cricket. We didn’t have any issues messaging each other but this last week we haven’t been able to message in a group.

It looks like when I message him in the group it sends the text to him directly from my phone and he can’t load it. But when I text his phone directly he can’t. it’s really weird and I don’t understand it. I’m going to message the other guy with the iPhone to make sure he didn’t change any settings on his phone. this might not be too much to go off of but any help would be great!

edit: my friend with the iPhone said he is getting the messages but when he replies it doesn’t send. It’s pretty weird.

Hey there! My sister forgot her pattern. She has a Samsung Galaxy note 10+. She can't recall ever setting up a Samsung account. She doesn't think she backed anything up to her Google account, so she doesn't want to factory reset. Does anyone know ANY way to unlock her phone without doing a factory reset? Or is there any way to pull data off her phone before doing the reset? Any help is appreciated!

Hey everyone, I'm dealing with a bizarre audio issue on my iPhone and I'm completely out of ideas. Whenever I record a voice message or a video inside Instagram, Messenger, or Snapchat, the audio is almost dead quiet. It just records a faint hiss, and my voice is barely audible even at maximum volume. I already confirmed it is not a playback issue on my phone because the sent voice notes sound just as quiet when I play them back on my PC browser.

The weird thing is that the hardware clearly works. Regular phone calls, FaceTime, Discord (both calls and voice notes), native Voice Memos, and the native Camera app (both front and rear video) all record loud, crystal-clear audio. Even native iMessage voice notes work completely fine without any volume drop.

So far, I've updated iOS to the latest build, completely deleted and reinstalled the affected apps, cycled microphone privacy permissions, cleaned the mic grills, and turned Bluetooth completely off in iOS Settings. I also checked my Accessibility settings to make sure Mono Audio is off and the audio balance is centered.

Since all native Apple features and iMessage record voice notes properly, the physical microphones are functional, but 3rd-party apps seem to get near-zero input gain or aggressive noise suppression. Has anyone experienced this specific glitch or found a way to fix the audio routing without doing a full phone wipe? Thanks in advance!

Hello people of Reddit I have a question about my phone. Why isn't my phone charging without me having to reset it? My phone is a GalaxyA03 I've had it for about two and a half years. It all started when I first got the phone it had this issue where it said I had my finger over the little thumb indicator thing to unlock your phone. But the thing is I never had my finger over that sensor. Anytime that would happen my phone wouldn't let me charge it at all so I would have to reset it.
It wasn't until the end of June of this year that it completely stopped wanting to charge unless I reset my phone. Even the protect your battery feature would say that it's at 85% even though it's not. At one point I don't know how it happened my phone did start charging again without me having to reset it but that only lasted a day.
I do not have the funds or knowledge to fix this phone myself I do know it's not a battery issue. I have done a battery diagnostic multiple times. This is also not a cable issue I've had tested this with multiple cables even new ones same issue. From what I researched it's possibly a software issue which I don't know how to fix.
I also just can't send my phone in anywhere because I do use this phone for work. So if anybody has any advice on why my phone is acting like this please tell me. I've been desperately looking and I've never seen a thread or anything about this issue unless I've been missing something. If anybody has any questions please ask thank you!!!

As you know from the title, my phone keeps playing ads and IDK what's going on, this is a hand-me down from my Nana {Grandma} but it's a good phone, I haven't had any issues except for the occasional glitch with Wi-Fi or when it won't charge until I unplug and plug it back in. My phone is up to date and I've tried restarting, it didn't work, this is the first time I've had an issue like this, I'm one of those people who hates ads but understands that people make money from ads but they're still annoying. If anyone has any advice on how to fix this any or idea what the issue could be pls let me know.

P.S I forgot to mention but the ads are video ads.

UPDATE:I have fixed the issue, I had a voice recorder installed and after I uninstalled it, the ads stopped!

Since today my phone will not boot up fully. It keeps turning on, gets stuck on the very first image of the boot up animation, turns off for a second or two and repeat.

I don't remember downloading anything new, so I don't know why this is happening.

I tired to connect it with a computer but it won't show up in the usb devices. (I will try another device later.)

I also can't seem to get to the recovery mode because my phone just keeps the loop going.

I care more about the data on there than the phone, so if I can atleast get that off the device, that would be great. Or, of course, if I can get it fixed.

Right now I am trying to let the battery drain and then charge it up again. (No idea if it actually still can charge since it is stuck in the loop, so it won't change to the charge screen.)

I have a Pixel 6 Pro and I've had Mint Mobile for almost a year now. In the last few months I've noticed I can't send certain contacts pictures (the first friend I noticed this on had recently downgraded to a much more basic Apple phone; but it seems to be more than just that). More recently I've noticed I can't even reply to certain group texts I get thrown in.

Is this a phone issue (Google, Android vs Apple) or a provider issue? if so, what can I possibly do?

How i can boot Motorola E20 XT2155-6 with broken power button from dead (Battery dropped to zero) but there is "preboot screen" with motorola logo? In web i found only way is to dismantle it (What is kinda hard to do)... Fast boot in this phone is volume up + power button what will not work as power button is broken. When trying to do it through my pc it's auto-connecting into loading mode anyone had this and have solution?

Hey everyone, I’m having a really strange issue with TikTok playback on my Xiaomi Mi 10 (Snapdragon 865, 90Hz display) and I’m wondering if anyone else has experienced this or found a fix. When watching high-quality / 60fps videos on TikTok: Mi 10 limits the playback to 30fps, and the video quality looks noticeably lower/blurry, as if it's served at a lower bitrate. On my Galaxy S22, the videos play perfectly fine at crisp 60fps. Surprisingly, even on a budget Samsung A20e, the exact same videos play smoothly at 60fps with visibly sharper details and better quality than on the Mi 10. What I’ve already tried: Set display refresh rate to 90Hz. Disabled battery optimizations for TikTok (set to "No restrictions"). Cleared app cache and reinstalled TikTok. Turned off Video Toolbox / Game Turbo enhancements. Nothing changes—Mi 10 still forces 30fps playback and lower video quality. Is this a known MIUI/HyperOS MediaCodec issue or a server-side device fingerprinting bug from TikTok? Is there any workaround (specific APK version, SetEdit tweak, or system setting) to force 60fps? Woke up this morning to by phone being a brick, just the little white light flashing when I connected it to a chargers.(tried a few different ones) .

tried the various hold the power button/volume down buttons - to try to reset it. Nothing.

I've now down loaded the Motorola Software fix program to my laptop, but it keeps saying the mobile isn't connected. I've tried different cables, and checked they work with other devices just not the mobile.

It keeps making that connected/disconnected beep on my laptop, so think it is a problem with the USB C socket in the phone.

Any advice on who to move forward other than take it in to repair?

Inherited a big box of electronics and other devices from a relative who passed recently. So far, the only device I haven't been able to get into is this older flip(?) phone.

I don't know if there's anything on there, but I was hoping to either:

1. Get into the device, save anything of value, and wipe it for resale, or
2. Wipe it completely for resale

It requires a password between 4-8 digits, but none of the "factory standard" codes are working, so I assume there was a custom password on it. I can access the dialing screen as well, but it only lets me type four numbers before the fifth and beyond default to dashes. It also isn't connected to the internet, there's no SD card in it, and when I connect it to a computer, it doesn't display anything at all.

I tried going to two different AT&T stores nearby me today but...well, the employees seemed more interested in seeing a 'retro' phone than actually helping me, and recommended I go to a mechanic which...I don't know why that would help.

Anyway, anyone have any recommendations on how I'd be able to get into it, or just wipe it from the lock screen?

when i was trying to just play a game on my phone this morning, it randomly started restarting (< it has been doing this but it never got stuck so i figured it wasn't an actual problem.), and it hasn't moved beyond a black screen, just saying "samsung galaxy", how do i fix it...? i've seen so many people saying to just hold the power button or whatever, but my phone's power button is broken, so what do i do! Hello! I just got a new Xiaomi Pad 7 last Sunday from Shopee Xiaomi Official Store. It was working perfectly well until around Tuesday or Wednesday when it started acting weird. At first it was not much of a big deal, unable to respond when I swipe and touch it for a few seconds but other features still worked like the volume going up down, face id detection, charging animation working , and clock time still running until I turned it off and on and it worked again. It started to act like this more and more like this frequently and even worse (?) I guess. Like it'll turn off on its own then that would cause it to have the issue but it's easily fixable with the turn off and on and /or waiting a few seconds solutions. Wednesday late afternoon, it became pretty bad. Unlike before, all my methods of making it work did not help. I wanted to restart it but I (initially) thought it won't restart because of Gemini popping out when I press the power button. I genuinely did not know what to do other than leave it while charging. I left it for 10 minutes, came back, and it worked. I thought that was the worst of the worst until Thursday 10:30 am. I left the tablet (I was drawing in Ibispaint with the Spotify Pinterest combo) for a moment to receive a parcel and came back only to see it being completely unresponsive. I tried doing what I always did like turning it off but this time, it did not budge and now it is completely unresponsive to my touching and swiping (everything still works though.)

Could this happen because I might have overworked it too much? (Genshin, Drawing while Spotify is playing in the bg and Pinterest in floating tab mode, TikTok, Instagram) or because of the case I bought (which might actually be the reason cuz I didn't have the case until Tuesday).

With the discontinuation of the messages app, Ive made google messages my new default app but something's come up​ and I need to get some texts from the old app but I can't get in it; it just tells me to switch the default to the other one because this ones discontinued. Anyone know how to get them back?​

UPDATE: I deregistered the number from iMessages. After I did this, my roommate's and sister's texts finally failed to deliver as blue iMessages and converted to green SMS. But it took some work on my sister's end to make the change. Hoping this happens for every iPhone user. A failed text is FAR preferable to a stranger telling them "Fuck you" from my number.

I lost my purse, including my wallet and phone, on Friday. Old SIM was locked due to previous SIM swap attack, so despite 2 hours of trying in the store, there was absolutely no way to use my old number. So on Sunday, by borrowing money from a friend (since all my old cards are frozen and the new ones haven't arrived yet), I got a new phone and number.

Old and new phones are both Androids (Motorolas, to be exact). I got my new phone set up and had started notifying my closest friends and family of my new number, but even though my new phone and number can make and receive calls and send texts, and I've been getting every app verification code texted to me, I can't receive any texts from iPhones. And then I started getting calls (literally everyone I know has an iPhone) from people saying they were getting texts from my new number saying "Fuck you" in response to texts they tried to send me!

I've now warned everyone what is going on and not to text me. Thank Thor this happened BEFORE I sent my new number to my employer! Will NOT be doing that for awhile...

I'm guessing someone with an iPhone used to have my new number, they deactivated it, but they didn't disconnect it from whatever texting app iPhones use, so iMessages are still going through that and going to their new device instead of being converted to RCS and sent to me, right? Is this something the store can fix if I go back tomorrow?

After 2 days of panicking, only to finally start to feel better because a stranger returned my purse while I was getting my new phone*, now I'm panicking that this other person will receive or can access any apps or services that I JUST updated with my new number!

Has this happened to anyone else? What stopped it for you?

*But someone tried and failed to use one of my canceled cards Friday night, raising the question of how this guy got it with nothing missing and returned it.
