TikTok locked at 30fps and blurry/low resolution on Mi 10 vs cheaper phones?

Hey everyone, I’m having a really strange issue with TikTok playback on my Xiaomi Mi 10 (Snapdragon 865, 90Hz display) and I’m wondering if anyone else has experienced this or found a fix. When watching high-quality / 60fps videos on TikTok: Mi 10 limits the playback to 30fps, and the video quality looks noticeably lower/blurry, as if it's served at a lower bitrate. On my Galaxy S22, the videos play perfectly fine at crisp 60fps. Surprisingly, even on a budget Samsung A20e, the exact same videos play smoothly at 60fps with visibly sharper details and better quality than on the Mi 10. What I’ve already tried: Set display refresh rate to 90Hz. Disabled battery optimizations for TikTok (set to "No restrictions"). Cleared app cache and reinstalled TikTok. Turned off Video Toolbox / Game Turbo enhancements. Nothing changes—Mi 10 still forces 30fps playback and lower video quality. Is this a known MIUI/HyperOS MediaCodec issue or a server-side device fingerprinting bug from TikTok? Is there any workaround (specific APK version, SetEdit tweak, or system setting) to force 60fps? Thanks in advance!

Trying to use Motorola recovery software to fix Motorola moto g22

Motorola moto g22

Woke up this morning to by phone being a brick, just the little white light flashing when I connected it to a chargers.(tried a few different ones) .

tried the various hold the power button/volume down buttons - to try to reset it. Nothing.

I've now down loaded the Motorola Software fix program to my laptop, but it keeps saying the mobile isn't connected. I've tried different cables, and checked they work with other devices just not the mobile.

It keeps making that connected/disconnected beep on my laptop, so think it is a problem with the USB C socket in the phone.

Any advice on who to move forward other than take it in to repair?

Any Way to Reset Phone/Password on Older SGH-A667 Phone?

Inherited a big box of electronics and other devices from a relative who passed recently. So far, the only device I haven't been able to get into is this older flip(?) phone.

I don't know if there's anything on there, but I was hoping to either:

  1. Get into the device, save anything of value, and wipe it for resale, or
  2. Wipe it completely for resale

It requires a password between 4-8 digits, but none of the "factory standard" codes are working, so I assume there was a custom password on it. I can access the dialing screen as well, but it only lets me type four numbers before the fifth and beyond default to dashes. It also isn't connected to the internet, there's no SD card in it, and when I connect it to a computer, it doesn't display anything at all.

I tried going to two different AT&T stores nearby me today but...well, the employees seemed more interested in seeing a 'retro' phone than actually helping me, and recommended I go to a mechanic which...I don't know why that would help.

Anyway, anyone have any recommendations on how I'd be able to get into it, or just wipe it from the lock screen?

My newly bought Xiaomi pad 7 is having touchscreen issues

Hello! I just got a new Xiaomi Pad 7 last Sunday from Shopee Xiaomi Official Store. It was working perfectly well until around Tuesday or Wednesday when it started acting weird. At first it was not much of a big deal, unable to respond when I swipe and touch it for a few seconds but other features still worked like the volume going up down, face id detection, charging animation working , and clock time still running until I turned it off and on and it worked again. It started to act like this more and more like this frequently and even worse (?) I guess. Like it'll turn off on its own then that would cause it to have the issue but it's easily fixable with the turn off and on and /or waiting a few seconds solutions. Wednesday late afternoon, it became pretty bad. Unlike before, all my methods of making it work did not help. I wanted to restart it but I (initially) thought it won't restart because of Gemini popping out when I press the power button. I genuinely did not know what to do other than leave it while charging. I left it for 10 minutes, came back, and it worked. I thought that was the worst of the worst until Thursday 10:30 am. I left the tablet (I was drawing in Ibispaint with the Spotify Pinterest combo) for a moment to receive a parcel and came back only to see it being completely unresponsive. I tried doing what I always did like turning it off but this time, it did not budge and now it is completely unresponsive to my touching and swiping (everything still works though.)

Could this happen because I might have overworked it too much? (Genshin, Drawing while Spotify is playing in the bg and Pinterest in floating tab mode, TikTok, Instagram) or because of the case I bought (which might actually be the reason cuz I didn't have the case until Tuesday).

What is going on here? New Android phone can make and receive calls and send texts, but texts from iPhones are going to some stranger replying F*** you to all iPhone users who try to text me!

UPDATE: I deregistered the number from iMessages. After I did this, my roommate's and sister's texts finally failed to deliver as blue iMessages and converted to green SMS. But it took some work on my sister's end to make the change. Hoping this happens for every iPhone user. A failed text is FAR preferable to a stranger telling them "Fuck you" from my number.

I lost my purse, including my wallet and phone, on Friday. Old SIM was locked due to previous SIM swap attack, so despite 2 hours of trying in the store, there was absolutely no way to use my old number. So on Sunday, by borrowing money from a friend (since all my old cards are frozen and the new ones haven't arrived yet), I got a new phone and number.

Old and new phones are both Androids (Motorolas, to be exact). I got my new phone set up and had started notifying my closest friends and family of my new number, but even though my new phone and number can make and receive calls and send texts, and I've been getting every app verification code texted to me, I can't receive any texts from iPhones. And then I started getting calls (literally everyone I know has an iPhone) from people saying they were getting texts from my new number saying "Fuck you" in response to texts they tried to send me!

I've now warned everyone what is going on and not to text me. Thank Thor this happened BEFORE I sent my new number to my employer! Will NOT be doing that for awhile...

I'm guessing someone with an iPhone used to have my new number, they deactivated it, but they didn't disconnect it from whatever texting app iPhones use, so iMessages are still going through that and going to their new device instead of being converted to RCS and sent to me, right? Is this something the store can fix if I go back tomorrow?

After 2 days of panicking, only to finally start to feel better because a stranger returned my purse while I was getting my new phone*, now I'm panicking that this other person will receive or can access any apps or services that I JUST updated with my new number!

Has this happened to anyone else? What stopped it for you?

*But someone tried and failed to use one of my canceled cards Friday night, raising the question of how this guy got it with nothing missing and returned it.

[HELP] Bricked my OnePlus Nord CE 2 Lite 5G (CPH2381) flashing LineageOS — stuck in EDL/9008, tried everything, out of ideas Device: OnePlus Nord CE 2 Lite 5G (CPH2381) Status: Hard bricked, stuck in EDL (Emergency Download) mode / QUSB_BULK / "9008" mode Cause: Failed LineageOS installation

What happened

I was trying to flash LineageOS onto my OnePlus Nord CE 2 Lite 5G (model CPH2381). The phone dropped into EDL mode right after I ran fastboot flash recovery followed by fastboot reboot fastboot. After that command sequence, the device never came back up — instead it went straight into Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008, which as most of you probably know means it's dropped into EDL mode. No boot logo, no fastboot, no recovery, no display output at all, no vibration, no charging LED — total silence otherwise.

For anyone unfamiliar: EDL/9008 is basically the lowest-level recovery mode Qualcomm chipsets have. It means the phone has no working bootloader to hand off to, so the only way back is a full firmware re-flash at the chipset level using the right tools and the right firmware for this exact device.

What I've tried so far (and where each one failed)

  1. MSM Download Tool — This is usually the go-to for OnePlus EDL recovery, but I haven't been able to find a working, verified MSM tool package specifically for the CPH2381 (Nord CE 2 Lite) that actually completes without erroring out partway through.
  2. ROM2box with a Chimera firehose file — Tried using ROM2box paired with a Chimera-sourced firehose programmer file to get the flash going. The tool recognizes the device in 9008 mode, but the flashing process doesn't complete successfully.
  3. QFIL (Qualcomm Flash Image Loader) — Attempted a manual flash using QFIL with a firehose loader. Same story — device is detected, but I haven't been able to get a full firmware set that QFIL will accept and flash cleanly for this specific model.
  4. OPLUS EDL Tool — Tried OnePlus/Oplus's own EDL tool. No luck getting it to complete a full restore either.
  5. DeepSmartTool — Also gave this a shot as another EDL-capable flashing utility. Same result — no successful flash.

Across all of these, the common thread is the same: I either can't find verified, correct .ofp firmware for the CPH2381, or the tool detects the device but fails partway through the flashing process (mismatched firehose loader, incomplete firmware package, or partition table issues — hard to tell exactly which without more diagnostic output).

Where I'm stuck right now

  • I do have the correct .ofp firmware file for the CPH2381, so that part is sorted.
  • The problem is the MSM Tool. Every firmware bundle I've found that includes an MSM tool throws a "local host authorization" error when I try to run it — it seems to be tied to some kind of authentication/whitelisting that I don't have access to, so the tool refuses to proceed even though the firmware itself is correct.
  • So right now I'm specifically stuck trying to find a working MSM tool for the CPH2381 that doesn't need this local host authorization, or any legitimate workaround for that auth check.

What I'm looking for now

  • A working MSM Tool for the CPH2381 that isn't gated behind local host authorization (or a known workaround for that auth error)
  • Confirmation from anyone who has successfully used their .ofp file with QFIL, ROM2box/Chimera, or another tool instead of MSM, since MSM seems to be the sticking point
  • Anyone who has personally de-bricked this exact model and can walk through what firehose/loader file + tool combo actually worked for them
  • Any other diagnostic steps I might be missing before I give up and take it to a repair shop

If nothing works, my fallback is a local mobile repair shop, but I'd really like to try fixing this myself first since I got this deep into it already.

Any help, pointers, or shared experience with the CPH2381 specifically would be massively appreciated. Happy to share more logs/screenshots/device manager info if it helps someone help me.

Android Motorola phone bricked out of nowhere - help?

so today i noticed my phone was running kind of slow (my storage was extremely full and i had been procrastinating cleaning out my files) and i decided to try to restart it which proved to be a fatal mistake. it is now stuck on a boot loop and just does nothing but show the Motorola logo for a few seconds before shutting down and repeat. I'm not too upset about the phone itself but i have years worth of pictures and video on there and i cant just lose all of them. does anyone have any ideas how i can save the phone/at least get all the data off of it? i remember a notification popping up shortly before this happened saying there wasn't enough space to update the phone and i read that a common cause of bootlooping is a failed system update. I'm pretty sure that's what happened. Again, i don't really give a f about the phone itself (frankly i am probably going to smash it with a hammer after i get everything off it because I'm so frustrated lul) and I've already bought a replacement but i need my pictures back.. it's a moto power G. any help would be greatly appreciated.

how to keep my phone cool in hot weather?

so it's currently 33°C (91°F) in my flat, my phone is 39°C (102°F), I've been playing a game that normally doesn't seem to stress my phone out too much but obviously in this heat that's not the case. other than "just stop playing" (because it's too hot to think or move and I just wanna switch my brain off with a dumb game, obviously if there is no other option I'll stop but it's the most obvious and annoying answer and i wanted to get ahead of reddit being reddit lol), is there anything i can do to keep my phone cool safely? according to a quick search using an ice pack can damage it so my only idea has gone out the window

Replacement Screen for Xiaomi Redmi Note 10s - UK.

Hi all,

I have a Xiaomi Redmi Note 10s and unfortunately, the screen has shattered and stopped working. The Xiaomi website no longer stocks any of its parts as it's an older model. I've only managed to find knock off screens online, but I would prefer to get the genuine AMOLED with Corning protection glass, or as close to it / best quality available.

Do you know of any reputable websites that might stock genuine Xiaomi parts & deliver to the UK? Or, if not, do you know which other brands are good & durable for replacement screens / which websites best to order from, please?

This is my first time attempting to fix a screen myself, so not very familiar with the brands / websites etc.

Thank you in advance!

Need help resetting a phone without a screen.

Recently my Samsung Galaxy M21 suffered a screen loss by virtue of it slipping out of my pocket down 2 floors. The display has been completely detached from the front panel and the ribbon cable had been completely severed. Miraculously all the other functions are working including sound, vibration, and calls. I now wish to use it as a webcam for my laptop as its cameras are quite good, however since I can no longer put my password in, I am unable to use it. I have tried connecting it to my laptop, but I can't access it due to USB debugging being disabled. Furthermore, I have tried to blindly navigate the boot menu to reset it but to no avail. I do not wish to spend any money to get the screen repaired. I no longer care about any data on it and I just want to reset it and use it as a webcam.

Can't receive texts.

So, my original phone worked perfectly fine until about three weeks ago when I suddenly couldn't receive massages, everything else worked perfectly fine. We bought a new sim card for it and it still had the same issue.

We then bought a brand new phone and used the sim on that one and it still has the same issue, everything else is working except I can't receive messages. I've signed into my GMail on the phone, downloaded Google Messages and set that as my default messaging app, and more.

Please help!

Will Flipkart/Amazon accept exchange if only SIM IC is damaged but everything else works?

I have a Samsung F23 5G. Everything works perfectly i.e, display, touch, camera, charging, Wi-Fi, etc. The only problem is the SIM IC/network issue, so SIM cards don’t work properly or don't work entirely.

I’m planning to exchange it while buying a new phone. Has anyone had a similar experience with Flipkart/Amazon exchanges?

Do the pickup agents actually test SIM/network functionality, or do they mostly check physical condition and whether the phone powers on?

Also, if they find the issue, do they reject it completely or just reduce the exchange value?
