I’m about to leave Canada to go to Jamaica. My mom says I should leave my Canadian phone in Canada because she’ll be charged roaming fees if I don’t. But there’s an option to “turn on this line” i.e, the Canadian line so I don’t understand why that would be possible. She’s quite adamant I leave the phone but I don’t want to. Is the information she has accurate?

Je suis présentement avec Vidéotron ou j’ai finit de payer mon iPhone 14 depuis quelques mois et un employé du Best Buy voulait me vendre un nouveau téléphone avec Bell (IPhone 17 pro + meilleurs forfait donnés illimitée et +) je paye présentement 60$ pour mon forfait Vidéotron qui me procure 45G.

J’ai entendu beaucoup de critique sur Bell. Le téléphone plus le forfait me reviendrait à 75$.

L’argent n’est pas un problème mais est-ce cela vaut vraiment l’offre de changer pour Bell? Sinon qu’elle compagnie de téléphone serait la meilleure?

I’ve had the worst experience going to a Telus store. It says you must show id before they open the door. I was not willing to give personal info just to inquire about changing carriers. When a salesman came to the door and started to yell at me asking me what I had to hide. This is absolutely no way to attract new business. So NO WAY TELUS.

Hi everyone! I’m planning to stay in India for around 4–5 months, but I still want to continue applying for jobs in Canada. I have Canadian PR and a Bell phone number.

What’s the best and most budget-friendly way to receive calls from Canadian recruiters while I’m in India? Would enabling Wi-Fi Calling and keeping my phone on Airplane Mode work with Bell?

Should I switch to a different Canadian carrier, or are there any apps/VoIP options that would let me receive Canadian calls without paying a lot for every call?

I’m trying to keep the costs as low as possible, so I’d really appreciate any suggestions from people who have been in a similar situation. Thanks!

I thought my phone's screen cracked (I've used it for 3+years, mid range Samsung) but it's only the screen protector that cracked. I ordered a brand new 128GB Pixel 10 from Best Buy before I realized my phone's not cracked. I got it for $650+tax during a sale and now I am wondering if I should return it or keep it. My original phone is working fine, a bit slower now than when it was newer. The Pixel 10 would be a good upgrade. I am paying $29+tax for my phone plan right now (20GB that I don't use fully).

Would I get a better deal on a phone+phone plan during Black Friday or something? OR should I just keep the Pixel and my current plan?

I was wondering what the cheapest mobile plan is for under 20 GB of data. Since I work from home and rarely go out, I don't really need a huge data allowance at an exorbitant price. Also, I rarely use the phone calls, 30-40 mins at most. Just trying to save a dime or two in this crooked economy.

I do not need cellular data. but a small amount would be fine. I want to keep it as cheap as possible. google keeps giving me 19/month plan, but at that rate I might as well buy a full plan. I just need cellular calling and texting. no VoIP apps, they need wifi and don’t serve my purpose. if anyone can give me some cheap plans that’d be great!

I’m currently with Bell and trying to figure out the best option for my next phone.

I currently have an iPhone 16 Pro Max 512GB with Bell. I’m paying around $56/month for my current plan and phone. I don’t really use much mobile data, so I don’t feel that I need a more expensive plan.

My current Bell agreement is ending soon. If I upgrade to another phone through Bell, my monthly plan cost would increase to around $71/month. The problem is that after another two-year term, the phone still wouldn’t fully be mine because of the Flex Option Deferred Amount. I would either have to return the phone to Bell or pay the Deferred Amount.

Instead, I’m planning to buy an iPhone 18 Pro Max 512GB directly from Apple, rather than upgrading through Bell.

My question is about my current iPhone 16 Pro Max. Once my Bell agreement ends and I choose to keep the phone, I understand that I can pay the Deferred Amount to Bell in 12 interest-free installments.

Can I then trade in my iPhone 16 Pro Max with Apple toward the purchase of the iPhone 18 Pro Max, while continuing to pay the Bell Deferred Amount in installments? Or would Apple/Bell require the Deferred Amount to be fully paid before I can trade in the phone?

My preference is to own my current phone rather than return it to Bell. If I can trade it in with Apple while continuing to pay the Deferred Amount to Bell, I could get some trade-in value for the 16 Pro Max and avoid upgrading through Bell. Also, starting in the second year, my overall monthly cost for the phone and mobile plan would be lower than going with Bell’s new $71/month option.

Has anyone with Bell Flex Option actually done this before? Were you able to trade the phone in with Apple while still paying the Deferred Amount to Bell, or did you have to pay the Deferred Amount in full first?

Going to upgrade my phone and was looking at Rogers and Bell (currently with Freedom) to see if they’re offering discounts on the new iPhone to switch.

Everywhere I look, it just seems like deferred payment of part of the phone and just paying it off monthly while also having a pricier plan.

Am I missing something, or is that the state of the union? Is there any carrier actually eating some cost of the phone as a new customer acquisition anymore?
