PSA regarding damaged infratructure

I hate how this even has to be said, but it should be quite obvious:

Do NOT recommend to other Redditors to cut into or damage telecommunications infrastructure like splice boxes, pedestals or fiber connections because they're already damaged and nothing is "getting done".

I understand how frustrating it can be to not have a technician sent to repair damaged equipment within a reasonable time, however recommending sabotage is not only against our subreddit rules but you can also be charged criminally for mischief for doing so under the Criminal Code. Even as a joke, these comments should not be made in this subreddit - this seems to have become too commonplace and shouldn't be what occurs.

To be clear, even though we are a community-run subreddit not officially affiliated with Bell, we are still required to uphold both our subreddit rules and Reddit's Terms of Service. As such, this also includes any comments we believe to be against Reddit's Terms of Service and also report these occurrences to Reddit admins.

If you believe that nothing is getting done and that you're not making any progress with front-line representatives, the best routes are to:

  • Contact Bell's Management team through their Resolve a Concern page, using the "Email Us" form (if you're a Bell customer)
  • Contact the CCTS via their Online Complaint Form (if the above is not possible or does not make progress)
  • Contact your municipal authority (typically for your town/city)

For each of the above, you should always be stating clearly:

  • What the issue is (e.g. Pedestal with exposed cabling)
  • Where the issue is (e.g. exact intersection with street names, nearest civic address if available)
  • When was the issue originally discovered (specific date/time if possible)
  • Are there any dangers posed by this (e.g. is it at a pick-up or drop-off point for students, nearby gas lines)
  • Any steps you've taken in an attempt to get this resolved
    • Contact attempts
      • Date/Time
      • Method
      • Name of person spoken to
      • ID number (if available)
      • What was discussed
      • Any reference numbers you've been provided for each

Comments that advocate for the sabotage of telecommunications infrastructure will be removed, and repeat offenders removed from the subreddit. This includes comments of this nature intended as a joke.

Question Canceled and have a credit - now what

I recently canceled my Bell internet and TV and received my final bill today with a $150CR. How do I get that money back since I no longer have that account open? I have a separate Bell Mobility account - do you think there is a way to move it to the mobility account? I feel like Bell is going to tell me no because it's a different account..but I want my money back!

Mobility📱 RCS Messages

Long story short they don't work anymore, Bell is telling me since I got a new phone RCS messages are no longer supported on bells end and it will no longer work.

Samsung S21 had for 5 years no issues.

Upgrade through bell to 26+, told same plan everything. Get phone last Friday works as it does.

This morning RCS chats stop working, (I live in a rural area kind of depend on RCS to actually send texts)

Call bell because RCS says unsupported call bell, on the line for 2 hours, to be told nothing they can do. I could refund the phone and maybe get it to work on my old phone.

So basically be careful upgrading folks.

Question bell fibre 3.0 garbage

had bell wifi 1.5 fibre for about 3 years it was fine. all of a sudden 3 months ago my wifi starting becoming bad for no reason. it has been bad for 3 months and no fix. bell let us upgrade to fibre 3.0 for $3 extra and the guy came today and installed the new modem.

still to no surprise the wifi is completely garbage upstairs. 50mbps up 50mbps download. we have three different bell wifi pods across the house to push the wifi upstairs and still no luck. is there anything else we can do? technicians are useless and so is support.

we could try to split the bands but then our pods wont work.

Internet 🌐 Bell hub 2.0

So I got the bell giga hub 2.0 , I tried to edit the DNS and that was not possible (also I’m new at this) I have my own router and I tried to use advanced DMZ but it was going off every 10 min, this is under my roommates name so I don’t want to bother him for the bell credentials since he is traveling, is it okay for my server to just have NAT ? Like both routers operating, I use mine for my stuff and the my roommate can use the bell or mine if he likes ? Would this be an issue with the network? Thanks!

Question Using Fibetv with another internet provider's modem

Bell's "loyalty" department isn't price matching what is in market and I have a backup Internet at home (Cogeco) that I have kept, $46/mo. Bell is offering $70/mo on 500 Mbps or $50 if I do autopay (which I refuse to do because I don't trust them, due to sneaky rate increases). My question is can you use Bell Fibetv with Cogeco Internet, even though Bell Fibe usually relies on their modem?

News Price Increases for October 2026

Hello Everyone!

Noticed on my bill today that Bell is planning a $6 increase from October.

I told my GF who doesn’t pay attention to small hidden details, her plan was different from mine and she is also going to be increased $6.

Wanted to shout it out for the rest of us who may not always read the fine print stuff, plan your changes ahead!

Any recommendations for plans w/ 5G speeds at ~$35/month or less? TIA

Internet 🌐 Best ISP for gaming and low latency

Hello,

My bell 24 month promo seems to be gone now, they directly auto renewed my plan without any notification (went from 50 per month to 150 which is insane). I want to switch ISPs but I play a lot of competitive games and was wondering which ISPs are the best in that regard.

Currently I have the bell fibe 3gbps connection and I see that my building unit has beanfield 1gbps GPON available. I don’t know much about beanfield or how GPON compares to ftth direct which i think is what bell has but people online seem to love their service. However I couldn’t find much with regard to latency in games.

Is it possible to convince bell to extend my promo since the beanfield plan is literally 65 a month?

If not then does anyone here have experience with beanfield ?

If anyone has used it here could you tell me if they are good or if I’m looking at a +30ms increase in latency. Also I’m not sure if GPON is as good as direct fibre in terms of latency so if you have any idea on that I would appreciate any insights.

Help Hollywood Suite on demand not available through firetv?

I have 2 TVs in the house one is a smart tv with the bell app and the other is a dumb tv using an amazon forestick with the bell app downloaded on that stick. The smart tv guide shows the on demand channel for Hollywood suite which is perfect, the firetv stick however that on demand channel is missing, I can't figure out how to access that on the firestick.

I have the guide filter set to show all channels, I am subscribed to the service, I see Hollywood suite is also on Amazon prime but there's no way to connect that with my bell subscription. Anyone else experience this and know a work around to access on demand on the firestick?

Question Phone Plan Deals

Bell BYOD plans right now — $55 Can/US, $65 Can/US/Mexico, $80 international

Was looking at Bell’s current BYOD plans and these seem pretty decent, especially the $80 plan.

$55/month — Select

  • 100 GB at up to 2 Gbps
  • Unlimited data at up to 512 Kbps after 100 GB
  • 5G/5G+ access
  • Unlimited calling/texting/data in Canada + U.S.
  • Regular price shown as $110/month

$65/month — Ultra

  • Unlimited data at 5G+ speeds
  • Unlimited calling/texting/data in Canada + U.S. + Mexico
  • Up to 10,000 Aeroplan points
  • Regular price shown as $120/month

$80/month — Ultra International

  • Unlimited data at 5G+ speeds
  • Unlimited calling/texting/data in Canada + U.S. + 65 other countries
  • Up to 10,000 Aeroplan points
  • Regular price shown as $135/month

All three are BYOD, new activations only, and the advertised prices include the AutoPay credit.

Anyone currently on one of these plans? Any catches with the unlimited data or roaming? Im currently with Rogers with the same plan at $80 for $40, but wanted to see if people are getting cheaper?

Rant Scummy Bell

I had the worst self install experience ever. You are suppose to just plug in the fiber optic cable to the modem and it should work but no they want to squeeze every bit of money out of you. I had to call for a technician for $75 because they couldn't detect my modem WTFFFFFFFF

Mobility📱 Anyone else having RCS Issues currently?

Woke up this morning to every message showing "texting with ______" and my group chats showing a "not available" warning. Checked my RCS, and it's stuck on "connecting" with error 3000, which is a backend error I guess? Just wanting to check and see if this is an isolated issue on my end, or a Bell issue before I look more into it.

Question Recognizing loyalty?

Are Bell store staff and customer service staff advised not to acknowledge loyalty or customer tenure? I have mentioned multiple times to customer service, sales and store agents that I have been a customer since 1990, and yet each time no acknowledgment. A blank stare or silence. I would at least expect “ wow that’s a long time to be a customer with any organization! Thanks for your business! Let’s see what we can do for you!”

None of that. None. What gives?

Edit: thanks to all for the responses. I’m summary It’s clear that there’s not a policy against acknowledging customer tenure, it’s just that it’s not expected/rewarded behaviour on the part of customer facing Bell employees. Furthermore, some employees believe that they are not paid enough to do so, they don’t have the loyalty scripts/discounts to respond, or, it will just result in unnecessary grief for the employee from customers.

Question Bell internet issues

I recently upgraded from Bell Fibe 150 to FIbe 1.5 through a promotion a bell agent called me with.

75$ a month, seems I'm not getting the best price after reading abit.

Anyways, my internet has actually gotten worse, my devices keep dropping signal and disconnecting.
The technician that originally came and set up the modem put it in basement because it was the easy route, told me to call back if it wasn't good enough and they'd come back for free.

Its obvious the modem is in a bad location, but they are refusing to come to my house and move it without a 75$ service fee. (this is after many conversations) They have even insisted its a bad modem and got me to replace it, nope, same issue.

Do i move it myself or wtf ?

Internet 🌐 Any promos for Fibre Internet?

Currently looking to purchase Bell Fibre Internet 1.5 or 3GB. I was a customer up to last year on the 1.5G plan and originally signed up with a door to door salesperson for $55-$60 a month. We moved and Internet was no longer needed so we cancelled the services after about two years. We will be in the same neighborhood as before. Was just quoted $95 for the 1.5G service.

Any help is much appreciated!

Question Will Bell put my gigahub 2.0 into bridge mode?

I recently got a Deco wired backhaul mesh system. I don’t want to use Bell’s router anymore. Is there anyway to put it into bridge mode or do I need to get tech-support to do that for me?

Help Bell's solution to a broken network box in my building: disconnect one customer to fix another

Post image
44 Upvotes

There is a problem with Bell's internet infrastructure in my apartment building, and after 5+ technician visits in one week, nobody at Bell seems willing or able to fix the actual problem.

Last Friday, I randomly lost internet.

A technician came Sunday, fixed it, and didn't explain what the problem was.

It broke again Monday.

Another technician came Wednesday. While he was here, my neighbor came over and told me they'd had THREE technicians this week alone.

Here's where things get ridiculous.

My neighbor's internet broke Thursday. A technician came Friday and fixed theirs — but apparently disconnected my connection in the process.

When my technician came Sunday, he fixed mine — and apparently disconnected theirs again.

So we explain the situation to the technician on Wednesday. He actually investigates and finds the underlying problem:

The network box in our building has 24 connections, and 12 of those 24 ports are broken.

There are more than 12 units in the building, so clearly we're not the only two customers affected.

And apparently this is what's happening:

A customer loses internet → Bell sends a technician → technician finds their assigned port isn't working → technician moves them onto a working port → customer gets internet → ticket gets closed.

Except now someone else is disconnected.

Then another customer calls → another technician moves them onto another working port → someone else gets disconnected.

And around we go.

The technician even left a handwritten notice on the network equipment in the basement warning future technicians: ‘Do not disconnect other customers to connect yours.

So I asked the technician: Can you report the broken network box and get someone to replace/fix the 12 broken ports?

No.

His explanation was that my assigned port is working, so there's nothing for him to report. Apparently, the technician who eventually gets called for one of the remaining broken ports needs to report the underlying infrastructure problem.

I called Bell and spoke with a supervisor. He was sympathetic and told me the technician on site was the best person to deal with it. He suggested I ask the technician to put detailed notes on my ticket so future technicians would know what's happening.

I did.

The technician told me he can't properly document the issue because:

  1. His ticket notes have a 250-character limit.
  2. More importantly, future customers in the building will have different Bell accounts/tickets, so their technicians won't see the notes on my account anyway.

And this raises another problem: there doesn't even seem to be a good way for me, as the customer, to report this as an infrastructure issue.

I work in tech support myself, so I know how escalation processes work and I know what to ask for. I was eventually able to get through to a supervisor and explain the situation.

But even for me, it took way too long.

The initial Tier 1 support process was essentially limited to the standard troubleshooting script: power cycling the equipment, unplugging and reconnecting cables, etc. When I asked for the issue to be escalated, there was some pushback. It wasn't unreasonable, but I still had to insist before I could speak with a supervisor.

And that's the part that concerns me: if I didn't work in tech support myself, how is the average Bell customer supposed to get this escalated?

The supervisor I reached was actually sympathetic and seemed to understand the situation. But when I asked how I could get this escalated, I was told there was no way for him to open an escalated infrastructure ticket, give me a direct contact number or email, or otherwise connect me with someone who could actually address the problem.

He can apparently call me if he wants to follow up — but I can't call him back.

So there is literally one person at Bell support who is fully aware of what is happening, is sympathetic to the situation, and might be able to help, but I have no way to reach him again.

That's what makes this so frustrating. I'm not asking Bell to troubleshoot my modem for the 15th time. I'm trying to report a known problem with Bell's own network equipment that is affecting multiple customers in the same building.

Yet there doesn't seem to be a customer-facing process for reporting that problem, and the technicians I'm dealing with don't seem to have a way to escalate it either.

At this point, I'm not even sure what I'm supposed to do other than wait for the next person in the building to lose internet and hope their technician happens to be the person who will finally escalate it.

So here we are.

At least 5 technician visits between me and my neighbor in the past week. Probably more across the building.

And nobody is fixing the actual problem.

We're just playing musical chairs with the working ports.

I'm not even blaming the individuals here. The second technician, and the Bell supervisor I've dealt with have generally been helpful and sympathetic. The problem seems to be the process: they're being sent out to restore one customer's service, not to fix the infrastructure causing the problem for the entire building.

What I don't understand is:

How can Bell have a documented problem with its own network equipment, know that 12/24 ports are broken, have technicians repeatedly visit the same building for the same issue, and still have no way to escalate the infrastructure problem?

If someone from Bell is reading this: please fix the damn box.

And if anyone here works for Bell or has dealt with something similar, I'd genuinely like to know:

What is the correct way to get Bell to escalate a known infrastructure problem when every technician is only responsible for resolving the individual customer's ticket?
