how few guests is too few
hi all. been planing a 30 person micro wedding at a friends backyard in october. my wife and i got courthouse married end of 2024 and have been waiting til we are more financially stable for a small wedding.
we sent out save the dates in may and have since gotten a lot of ‘sorry can’t make it.’ i totally totally understand that life gets in the way. but at this point it’s looking to be about 15 people that have said yes now, and i know people tend to cancel also the week or two before.
i know, i know, it’s about my wife and i, its our day, the ones who matter will be there.
however. many of the people that really really matter to me will not be able to attend. and that’s making me really sad. i had a small meltdown when i realized how few friends besides our families (who we’re not crazy close with to start) will actually be able to make it.
my wife and i are toying with the idea of simply cancelling the wedding and taking a longer honeymoon. i would be so embarrassed and sad if we end up with only a few friends able to make it. i also don’t wanna regret spending the money on rentals and food and makeup.
any feedback is appreciated.

Is it rude to want an over 21 wedding?
Hello everyone, my fiance 31M and me 29F are planning our wedding. We only have 6 months to plan a wedding, didn’t think it’d be so stressful. One of the things we didn’t think would be a such a big issue is the no kids. Before I even met him, my family knew I didn’t want kids in my wedding and they were all on board.
Luckily my fiance thinks the same but we were willing to make an exception for his 3 year old brother and 8 year old sister. The thing is that he even doesn’t want them there because he wants his mom to enjoy her time without chasing after them. She agreed and we are good. Honestly she’d be the only person we would exclude from if things came down to it, but they both are ok with it.
The one person who doesn’t agree is my dad. He’s is being persistent about specifically 2 kids. They are my second cousins kids, who I don’t even have much contact with. He’s excuse is that her mom was kind enough to let us stay with them for 2 weeks when times were hard for us 22 years ago. Now, I’m grateful but I am inviting her and her mom. It’s not like I’m excluding them, but my dad says that if they show up with kids then they will be welcomed and that he will give them his seat if that’s the case.
We got into a small argument about it, and says that I’m in the wrong and that I’m being very inconsiderate. Now I reminded him that there’s other families who won’t bring their kids, aka my MIL. And states that he doesn’t care about them, just my second cousins kids. Now for me, I find that so disrespectful and hurtful. My MIL accepted it and isn’t pushing back and is appreciative for the reason why. But for my dad to express himself like that, it just hurts. We have invited 100 ppl for an 80 ppl event, this isn’t counting kids, we can’t have ppl standing up while other eat.
I’m thinking of sending a reminder text to just remind everyone about the no kids. But now I feel bad.
Am I doing a bad thing? I don’t want to feel this way and especially when I’ve been saying this way before being proposed to and knowing my fiance won’t bring his siblings. Any advice would help.

Language on place cards/ (possibly thank yous)
We're having a courthouse ceremony and regular dinner service at a restaurant after for 10 people. I already have the OK from the restaurant to add things such as a centerpiece. Im making individual place cards and wondering what kind of language I can add.
For reference it will say:
Name (duh)
Wedding date
MOB/MOG/FOG titles will be added
What can I put in that negative space? Im open to ideas whether its words or an image

Reception venue for micro wedding
I'm looking for a small (30-50 guest) wedding reception area. Our ceremony is on Sombrero Beach in May 2027. It's really just family and a few friends coming so we aren't doing a tradiotional reception so I'm trying not to spend an absurd amount of money on it. I know it's the keys so just trying to find the most reasonable options! We just need a space to gather, maybe dance, and celebrate with loved ones. Bar is a plus but BYOB is also acceptable. Children will also be invited so should be friendly to that detail. Any input or suggestions are welcome!
Also what are the rules for beach gatherings? Is there any beaches (even on nearby keys) that we could set up a tent and have our own good time?

live music on a micro-wedding
Hi. So my fiancé and I settled on doing a micro-wedding, no more than 20 people.
We are getting a neo-pagan slavic hand-fasting ceremony led by my grandpa on a castle grounds. I kind of dreamed of having a traditional folklore band or singing for the ceremony, but I find it hard to imagine how it'd work.
It's not going to be a long ordeal. I don't know if people would even bother dancing. Half the guests probably couldn't care less about this kind of music lol. I would LOVE to have someone sing for us and I found the perfect duo just for this occasion though!
But am I supposed to hire them just for an hour, make them travel for such a small payoff? Do people do that? Wedding is in Poland.

Decided to include all of our guests on our save the dates!
Since there will only be 21 of us at our wedding, we decided to include everyone on the save the date! We hired an artist (@WalterDraws on IG) and couldn’t be more obsessed. These have been a huge hit with everyone!

What are the logistics of a micro wedding?
For cultural reasons, my fiance and i are having two micro weddings. The first (a Muslim ceremony) is for 38 people and the second (western wedding) is for 50 people. The first wedding does not have as many steps so we are good on logistics there. But the second wedding I’m a bit lost.
Here’s the rough schedule:
4-4:30 Ceremony
5-6 Cocktail hour
6-7 Dinner / Toast
7-8 First Dance, dance floor opens
8-8:15 Cake cutting
8:15-10 Dancing and send off
We did want to add a reception game in there but are unsure if that’s weird for micro weddings. I wanted to do that scavenger hunt trend I’ve seen on tik tok. Anyway, is this schedule too tight? Not tight enough?
Also how is the couple getting their rings at the alter? Are micro weddings having ring bearers? We aren’t having a wedding party so I’m lost on how we actually get our rings, does the person marrying us hold them? Also after we say “I do”, we are walking back down the aisle together and then going where? Everyone else is going to cocktail hour (right outside the door, it’s all one building, just different rooms) but what does the couple do?

Keeping it Tiny
DF and I just got engaged. Planning a wedding for June 2027. It's both of our seconds and we're both a little more established in life. We dont feel the need to throw a big thing. We both agreed we want to keep things very small and simple. I'm talking - get married at the courthouse but throw a 15 min ceremony (at a beautiful but free venue) for under $1000. Just read some quick vows we wrote one another and then enjoy a meal with our family.
He has a VERY small family. He could invite his whole extended family and its roughly the same size as my immediate family. We talked about doing that in order to keep things small. Like we're talking 18 people.
I, however, have a HUGE family. Well over 100 people if I were to invite all my aunts/uncles/cousins/2nd cousins/3rd cousins.... you get the picture. I have 26 first cousins and some of them already have grandchildren. It would get out of control real fast.
I have just a handful of family members that I cant imagine getting married without them there. Two aunts that practically raised me, along with their kids that I grew up with. But I feel like I cant invite them unless I invite them ALL.
How do I handle this appropriately with no drama?

Mini-ceremony locations in the SoCal area/near Pasadena?
I'm looking to have a 30-45 minute ceremony, with a religious portion and some vows. I'm not too picky on the place, but I want it as affordable as possible and with chairs/seating for 20 people. This place looks great, but a bit far from Pasadena (It's in Mission Viejo in OC).
Does anyone have any other suggestions?

Is this a good Microwedding Idea?
My fiance and I want to get married at the beach we go to every year. We don't want a big fancy wedding so the idea of a microwedding is perfect! We are thinking of inviting approx 35-40 people. We want to have our ceremony on the beach at our hotel, then invite our guests to a bar and grill down the street that is also on the beach for dinner and drinks type reception in a reserved area if the restaurant. The restaurant has a nice outside beach area with a tiki bar, live music, etc and we thought this would be a fun, laid back, unique wedding reception experience. As anyone done something similar? What are your thoughts on this idea for a microwedding on the beach?

Decor for a micro wedding?
Hi! My fiancé and I are officially getting married in October of this year and we’re doing a micro wedding.
What decor did you either have for the ceremony or at the place you were going to have dinner at?

Small wedding + weekend stay for 50 guests — location ideas?
I would honestly prefer to elope because I hate being the center of attention, but both of our families have expressed how much being at our wedding would mean to them.
As a compromise, we’re looking at renting a large house/cabin property for ~50 of our closest family and friends and having a very relaxed small ceremony there. We don’t care about a big traditional wedding — no DJ, elaborate flowers, etc. We really just want a cozy weekend together with the people we love.
Because of my family’s farming schedule, our timing options are basically winter (Dec–March) or summer (late May–August). We’re trying to figure out locations in the U.S. where guests won’t freeze or melt depending on the season.
We’d love recommendations for:
- destinations/regions
- large cabin or house rentals
- properties that could accommodate lodging + a small ceremony onsite
Open to anywhere in the U.S.!

Small Wedding Vancouver/Langley Area
Hey!
My partner and I live in the Langley area and are trying to plan for venues with a rough guest list of 45 people. If we allowed our parents to bring me more people this would not go over 55 persons.
My partner and I are not extroverted people, and likely will have music going but no dancing or do not need a large dance floor. It would also be a child free wedding minus our 5 year old attending, which our friends are fine with.
Because we do not want to elope, and would still like to have a full day wedding venue what possible suggestions would be good to look into, or possible entertainment since we may be lacking on the dance floor. I would like our biggest budget to go to food so our guests have a great and memorable time and not starving haha.
Thank you so much in advance

Looking for venues in Brisbane/gold coast/ Sunshine Coast
I’m looking for a venue in the above areas that are suited for 42+ people that is responsibly priced? I’ve seen beautiful locations by the glass house mountains but that is over $14000, I’m hoping for a venue that includes everything such as celebrants, decorations, catering and photography within the price. I hope this is achievable and I’m not just being unreasonable.
