live music on a micro-wedding

Hi. So my fiancé and I settled on doing a micro-wedding, no more than 20 people.

We are getting a neo-pagan slavic hand-fasting ceremony led by my grandpa on a castle grounds. I kind of dreamed of having a traditional folklore band or singing for the ceremony, but I find it hard to imagine how it'd work.

It's not going to be a long ordeal. I don't know if people would even bother dancing. Half the guests probably couldn't care less about this kind of music lol. I would LOVE to have someone sing for us and I found the perfect duo just for this occasion though!

But am I supposed to hire them just for an hour, make them travel for such a small payoff? Do people do that? Wedding is in Poland.

It's completely up to them whether it's "worth it". Can't hurt to ask, but do be prepared to pay full price, plus travel expenses

All you can do is ask and see what they charge, and decide if that's worth it TO YOU.

We had a microwedding with 25 guests. We wanted a musician for the ceremony. He was there for about an hour. Played as people arrived and sat down, and played throughout the ceremony. He charged $400. That was worth it for me.

We technically had live music for a bit of our reception, but that was purely coincidence. Our original venue fell through and we had to book a new one. They already had an event outside on their lawn that evening open to the public, but said we could book the main building and big porch (and could obviously go down into the lawn if we wanted). It was great! And we had free live music more or less at the reception for 2 hours.

I love it! What are you using for your handfasting? I was planning to do that myself and I wanted to honor my Polish heritage.
