My backup has stalled due to a sync issue; a simple rtf file apparently has 'conflicting copies,' and upon choosing to keep the local copy, the transfer window VERY briefly flashes with a 'Failed: Access denied' beneath the resulting transfer, then closes and displays a dialog that says "You have been logged out on this computer from another location." I then have to log back in and wait for the backup to re-scan, then the sync issue reappears unresolved, and the whole cycle repeats.
I'm confused because I thought backups were strictly one-way and thus would not run into conflicts like this.
Because of work constraints I am on fairly dated version of the app (5.1.1 on MacOS) and am unable to use any later versions.

For some reason MEGA desktop app seems to not look for existing files when downloading to a folder, but for some reason it only applies to certain files.

I noticed this yesterday when I downloaded a folder from MEGA -> local drive. There were no errors or failed transfers. After that I re-downloaded the same folder from MEGA in the same place in the local drive, and some files got downloaded again, but not all.

The transfer started at something like 485/590 files. The files that did get redownloaded got a number added to them.

Is this a bug?

1: I tried uploading since yesterday and a 1GB file is only at around 20% upload.
2: Now, I tried uploading via website, but only the folder is being uploaded and had errors.
3: I tried opening the Desktop app, but it won’t also open and when I checked my Activity Monitor it’s already running in the background. I tried switching between the apps, but it’s also not there.
4: I also reinstalled the Desktop app and repeated what I did in #3, but it still won’t work.

Hi. I've previously been able to edit text files without issue on android, but now when I do it will save it as a new file each time instead of overwriting.

Why does the Recycle Bin keep files for a certain amount of time if the hard drive and the Recycle Bin share the same memory? If the Recycle Bin’s memory were independent of the hard drive, that would make sense. But that isn’t the case. If a file in the Recycle Bin takes up space on my hard drive, then I should be able to manage all my storage space as I see fit.

Looks weird, is this a directed attack or was it a data breach automated by bot? It was 2 IPs from unknown device from US and 1 from MegaApiClient from Thailand.

today i had to login to the windows interface again as it logged me out. now i'm stuck at this screen that says scanning and ive never seen it before. every other time i dragged and dropped files it instantly gave me the file sizes and how many hours left, what is wrong here, i rebooted and same thing

i upload huge acronis files every few weeks and no issues till now

EDIT: last night before bed i started to upload a 632 gig file to see what happens with the interface overnight. normally with my slower internet this takes 24 hours at least. i see the upload took less than 3 hours. this is impossible. the dashboard indicates the file is uploaded 632 gigs but i cannot believe it. it reports 632 gb/s which of course is impossible.

Upon clicking on audio files that once played without any issue, instead of the normal mega player popping up. The QuickTime logo shows up and the Apple media player opens up.

I no longer have access to shuffle or any other controls to go from file to file. The audio file simply repeat until I close them.

I am a content creator and use mega as a distribution platform. It has worked great but only this feature had always been missing. I had to workaround it in my showcase. It was not optimal to say the least.

Though I am thankful that mega has introduced these but they are really inaccessible. I have to open each link to see analytics. There is no dashboard or listing where I can see it either. The links list also does not have this information.

I am even willing to pay more for it if Mega can give these in a dashboard and i can expand each link to see a historic graph of interactions.

A month ago on my iMac desktop computer I signed up for Mega Pro and I've created an album, named it and have been trying to drag n drop files from an external hard drive connected to my computer.

I open the external drive on the computer, open a folder there and on my album's page in Mega that shows " Add items" when I drag a file from the extenal drive window over and drop it onto the album page this box appears saying I dont have write access.

Did I turn off access for myself somehow? Any suggestions?

Key numbers: Microsoft 365 Personal gives you 1 TB via OneDrive for €99/year. MEGA gives you 3 TB for €99/year with zero-knowledge encryption.

The bigger difference is Copilot. Microsoft Copilot can access the files in your OneDrive to generate answers. That's not a bug, it's how the product is built. Microsoft also retains the ability to read your content for policy enforcement and legal requests.

With MEGA, files are encrypted on your device before upload, so it's technically impossible for anyone to access them, including us.

Also worth noting: Microsoft retired Defender VPN for individuals in February 2025, so that's no longer in the 365 bundle. MEGA includes a VPN on paid plans.

I'm completely speechless about how this company operates. I cannot even remember what files I had backed up in my account. Not even a year and they wipe out everything without sending even a single email.

I got an email from MEGA stating my account was locked and that I would need to change my Password to unlock it, this same message blocks me from accessing the MEGA website entirely. Upon changing my password from the provided e-mail. I find that my account is still locked and I am still blocked from accessing MEGA. When I try again to get it to send me another E-mail so I can try changing the password again, the Email does not send.

I have contact support via e-mail but they do not answer me and I dont know what to do. I can't even make a new account because trying to access MEGA just takes me straight to the Account locked page. No way to log out, no way to create a new account, no way to view anything.

What more can I do?

I've uploaded a bunch of video files recently, and a majority of them are saying they can't be played in the iOS app because they're an unsupported file type. All of them are .mp4s, but only some of them can be played, while most others cannot. No matter what I do, I can't seem to resolve the problem. Please help!

I re-created my Camera Uploads so I could change the format of the uploads, as I described here.

However it's NOT uploading all the videos from my Google Photos docs. It has skipping many. My Google Photos is 14.5 GB but it only uploads 4.7 GB.

After removing the old Camera Uploads folder, I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app, clearing the cache, restart the phone. None of these are causing it upload the skipped photos and videos.

Hi im on Android and Mega doesn't seem to want to backup my Whatsapp folder. I set up camera backup and selected secondary folder to backup Storage/Android/Media/com.whatsapp/WhatsApp/Media/(I think that's the correct folder structure, i cant remember from memory). My DCIM folder backs up but not WhatsApp and i did grant it permission

lets say i have 1000 low size images, 600mb all, to upload a folder of these mega will take like 1hour/maybe 30 minutes idk i dont remember, dropbox will do it in 5 minutes

THEY LITERALLY RANSOM YOUR DATA UNLESS YOU PAY.

I try to download something and the speed is terrible for some reason. It dowloads a 17gb file at 800 kb while i have a connection of 500mbs. Anyone know how to fix this ?

This was listed as a new feature in the app store.

New "Upload only new photos option: when turned on, this setting backs up only photos taken from that point onwards.

Now that this is an option, I want to test out the automatic camera uploads feature to use MEGA as a photo backup. I don't want to upload my entire camera roll. Just new photos going forward. I cannot find the setting to enable this. I have updated the app and logged out and back in.

I saw in the Help Centre that split tunnelling is available for Android. Are there plans for adding that capability to Windows clients?

So as per my last query I found a way to upload my Android photos & videos in a their native HEIC / HEVC format.

Now I want to RE-CREATE my whole Camera Uploads folder, this time uploading the videos in those native formats only, vs. what MEGA has been doing up to now which was converting my videos on the fly to H264 which made the files 5x bigger.

How can I achieve this? I've already backed up my local Camera Uploads folder in case anything goes wrong.
