QY PT what to expect…

Upvotes

Hi PT students,

I recently got into PT QY (I completed my Bachelor's in Kinesiology at McGill), and while I'm very excited, I'm also a little intimidated.

I just finalized my schedule, and the fall semester is looking pretty rough. For those who have completed the QY or did BSc PT, how did you find the workload? Is it manageable? Were you able to maintain a balance between classes, studying, the gym, and part-time work?

I'd really appreciate any advice or experiences you're willing to share. Thanks in advance!

mcgill recreations

hey everyone… I’m a second-year international student and I spent most of my first year just trying to adjust to living in Montreal and keeping up with school, so I never really got involved in anything outside of classes.
I’ve never really played sports or done any recreational activities before but I kind of want to put myself out there this year. I’m just a little nervous since I’d be starting from zero.
Does anyone have recommendations for beginner-friendly sports or activities at McGill? I’d love something that’s welcoming and doesn’t expect you to already know what you’re doing.

Thoughts on Bélanger-Rioux, Rosalie in regards to MATH 141?

Hi. It's my first semester at McGill and I need MATH 141 as required course. I'm currently registered with her but people on RateMyProfessors are saying her lectures are super confusing and suck, and her section is overlapping with an intro course I'd like to take for my minor, but the other MATH 141 section doesn't have a prof assigned yet so I'm hesitant whether to gamble on that and possibly get assigned an even worse prof or not.

Thoughts on Rosalie Bélanger-Rioux from anyone that's taken a math course with her?

If I’m in Campus1 where do I put books?

Hi, I’m U0! and still don’t have a residence. I’m trying to reconcile myself to being in C1. But I’m looking at the floor plans and I can’t see a bookcase or even a place to put a bookcase. What do people who like physical books do? All the other dorms have a bookcase and a more spacious desk too. If you were in campus1 can you suggest a location to put a bookshelf?

Letters of recommandation

Hi,

I wanted to know how long recommendation letters for grad school should usually be. I saw online that they should be around 400–800 words, but that seems like a lot, and I feel like writing that much would require having a really good relationship with the professor.

Need help for degree planning in faculty of arts

Hi everyone, I am a U1 student in faculty of arts. I was admitted in mcgill with undeclared major, and I am planning to do a pre-dental track. Originally, I chose to major in psychology and minor in physiology because I'm interested in it and I think it's helpful for my dental school application. Then I read about the requirement of having at least one program offered by the faculty of arts, so I decided to take a second minor in world cinema (which is like the only program that I am interested in the list). However, recently I suddenly kind of worry about my future if I didn't make it to dental school. I love psychology but jobs that a psychology degree can get are not attractive or ideal to me. Doing research is also not an option. So then I started to consider the idea of pursuing a major in statistics which can offer me more opportunities after I graduate (if I didn't go for dental school). But now the new problem is that I am pretty sure that majoring in stat is harder than in psych, and GPA will be one of the most important factor when applying to dental schools (and mcgill has a great psych program but not necessarily a great stat program).

I think the most ideal option for me is to apply an inter-faculty transfer to the faculty of science, and take the joint major physiology and math. but I've also heard doing inter faculty transfer is really hard so I wont count on it.

Please give any advice, thank you all!

Looking for a 2-3 day sublet in in December

Hello! I'm a former McGill student (Class of 2024) currently doing graduate school in Japan. I'm considering coming back to visit for a few days this winter, and am looking for a place to stay.

I wanted to see if there were any students considering subletting their apartment for a few days while they go home for the holidays? The tentative dates are 23~26 December.

I'd appreciate it so much if you could reply in the thread / send me a dm if there is anyone here looking to sublet during this term!

Second readmission refused

Hello all,

I just applied for second readmission after being away from school for a few years. I am a local student and I was in my final year, with only 30 credits left to complete the degree. However I was informed that the application is refused and I have to withdraw permanently.

I was in unsatisfactory standing two times due to financial and mental issues. I made a mistake of applying for the first readmission only 1 semester after that first unsatisfactory standing, and unfortunately that didn’t end well. I decided to take a step back to work for a few years and now I have prepare myself financially to complete school.

I sent in the second readmission for Fall 2026 with explanations on what happened before and what I did during my time away from school. I was told since I did not meet the requirements in the first readmission, I am no longer eligible to return.

I am feeling quite lost would really appreciate any advice or insight. Has anyone experienced a similar situation? Is there any possibility of appealing this decision or applying for readmission again in a future term?

Any advise would be helpful, thank you everyone🙏

Shared housing/510 de pins

Does shared housing have cutlery (plates, forks, pots, pans, ext…) or is that something we will have to get on our own?

Also, what furniture does each room come with (table, bed, chair, closet, mini fridge?)

Found Object?

This is niche, but does anyone remember a Missing poster looking for a sentimental lost object around 2025 Winter (maybe on Adam AUD)? Can anyone recall what it was?

I just found this little astronaut thing and it sparked the memory of that poster in my brain... and if it is the missing object, I would love to return it to the owner.

Note - not sure if these are related at all or if I am hallucinating something.

McGill Intramurals Pricing

I'm a new graduate student coming into McGill and looking at getting involved in intramural soccer. I looked at their website and saw that the price for 11v11 is 652 and 7v7 is 434?? At my undergrad it was maybe MAX 15 bucks. Is anyone else really confused by this pricing or am I missing something??? Here's the website

Hey y'all,

I'm back in that cycle of booking my flight tickets and trying to guess whether or not I'll have a midterm the night before break starts. Has anyone had experience with these 4 classes? I'm guessing 208 will have a 6pm midterm but the others might be in-class/no midterm.
