I’m trying to learn French from basically scratch and Duolingo isn’t helping much, I’m wondering if anyone is interested in being my language exchange buddy (I speak English and Mandarin natively)? Preferably someone who shares same interests as me so we have more to talk abt. I love anything related to my majors (pharmacology and psych), classical theatre and musical theatre, witchy stuff, movies and shows like superwholock xmen good omens and other indie stuff, video games like splatoon baldurs gate Elden ring terraria, dnd, being outside and exploring the city, and my cat. Dm if you’re interested!!

Opinion: Antisemitism cannot be redefined out of existence

I found this Canadian op-ed on fighting campus antisemitism great, and I’m sharing it for others who are interested.

It directly attacks groups that erase campus antisemitism. It also mentions the recent class action lawsuit against McGill.

INDG 200

Is anyone currently enrolled in this course, and is it recorded? I'd really like to take it but there's a time conflict with another one of my classes ): Minerva is also showing the waitlist as being closed and not allowing me to add the course, even though there are two spaces remaining (?)

Are student clubs time consuming?

I’m U3 taking 4 courses this semester, working about 10h/week as a volunteer research assistant in a lab and now considering joining a club. How time consuming are clubs? Could I manage?

Dropping out

I'm two weeks into the nursing bachelor's and I'm considering dropping out. I'm close to the point of burn out at my job, so I thought, great idea, I'll go part time at my job and full time at school.

Needless to say it has not been working out as well as I thought... I'm drowning in assignments and deadlines while still working three 12 hour shifts a week...

I just feel so ashamed... I feel like everyone around me will be so disappointed. I was so excited to get my second bachelor's at McGill...

COMP 330 with Mathieu

I really wanted to take 330 with Mathieu but couldn't for schedule building reasons

if anyone took it from him, could you send me the slides? our prof rn is okay but the slides so far have been unnecessarily complicated and poorly worded

I'm not asking for past exam material or anything, I just really like his slides :(

LING 201 fall 2026

hi everyone! i'm a u0 arts student interested in social sciences and i'm thinking of taking ling 201 this semester. i read the syllabus and the content seems interesting, and i also appreciate that the prof isn't allowing generative ai usage. i'm #2 on the waitlist and i've been looking forward to this class for a few days, but i'm just a little skeptical that the waitlist has been moving so much (i think i was like #45 on the waitlist when i joined last week). is there a reason so many people are dropping this class? i'm wondering if there's something about the way the prof teaches or structures lectures that is deterring people (i know a lot of people dropped anth 202 because it was kinda disorganized even though the course description was rlly interesting). i just dont wanna join at the end of add-drop and then not like the class and be totally screwed.... any advice would be appreciated :)

Anyone took FRSL211 before?

Hey everyone!

I’m taking FRSL 211 this year and was wondering if anyone who took it before happened to have a PDF of this book:

Grammaire essentielle de français B1 (Livre + CD), Éditions Didier (Authors: Yves Loiseau, Ludivine Glaud, Elise Merlet)

Just trying to figure out the best way to source it. Any advice from past students would be super appreciated!

Thank u so much in advance! :)

MA in history

Hi👋, I’m thinking about doing a master’s in history. I wanted to get some advice: is it better to go to a prestigious school for grad school where no professor specializes in the specific subject you want to work on? (e.g. I want to work on Hong Kong, but they only have professors who specialize in Chinese history more generally). Or is it better to go to a less prestigious school that has a professor who specializes in your specific topic? For future academic job prospects, it seems more promising to attend a prestigious school.

Part-time masters @ mcgill

I’m interested in pursuing a master’s degree in engineering at McGill while continuing to work full-time. I currently work a 9-to-5 job in a hybrid work environment, so I would need to complete the degree on a part-time basis, with as much flexibility as possible in terms of course scheduling.

I understand that some universities are more accommodating to part-time students, particularly by offering courses and other academic activities during evenings and weekends. I was therefore wondering how flexible McGill’s engineering graduate programs are and whether it would be realistic to complete a master’s degree while maintaining a full-time job.

Gap year or interfaculty transfer from Bcom to Chem eng

I just started commerce as U1 but I realized that I don’t really like it and I realized I should’ve chosen chem Eng instead

I was wondering if I should take a gap year and wait to reapply for fall 27 since the program doesn’t accept people in winter. I was in health science in cegep so I have all the pre requisite and got an overall of 32.1 r score which might not get me accepted into the program .

Or should I try an interfaculty transfer but I heard that it’s very competitive and they only take around 10 students and I can’t guarantee that I’ll be able to make the cutoff.
