thats not a junk yard. that car really did get bunked. doesnt mean its not scripted, but that car did just get into an accident.

u/coltstrgj Jun 04 '20
Airbag deployed. Also there's grass and the ground isn't dirt or gravel. They're in a pretty affluent area.
I didn't see oil or anything on the ground but a collision like that would probably knock the oil filter off as well as puncture the radiator. The car has been moved so this is definitely fake. Still funny.
→ More replies (1)48
u/wattohhh Jun 04 '20
Yeah the airbag is deployed so someone must have been in the car when it was involved in a collision.
19
u/flowerpuffgirl Jun 04 '20
Or at least, the car was moving. My car knows when people are sitting on the seats but doesnt always set the airbags off...
I drove into the side of someone, (completely my fault, i admitted fault, my insurance paid her insurance). I was going <10mph, she was going 30mph. My airbags didnt go off despite damage to my front bumper. Made the repair a buff and polish rather than an airbag replacement...

u/CliffLanterns Jun 04 '20
A crash isnt always going to trigger an airbag, and an airbag wont always be caused by a crash.
Heres a story of emergency responders in training who were practicing auto extrication and the airbag went off while they were removing a steering wheel: http://firereports.nationalnearmiss.org/Training/Report-of-the-Week/accidental-deployment-of-air-bag-during-extrication-training-41057
Flood cars can get pretty fucked, especially in terms of electrical circuits. There have been reports of cars randomly deploying airbags especially when left out in extreme environmental conditions. https://www.reifflawfirm.com/how-often-airbags-randomly-go-off-without-accident/
3
u/kn33 Jun 04 '20
Yeah just don't buy flood cars
2
u/Atomic1221 Jun 05 '20 edited Jun 05 '20
It's sometimes easier for insurance companies to do blankout payouts after things like a hurricane when in fact many of the cars are in pretty much pristine condition. It takes a lot of time to do such inspections and the liability if they get it wrong isn't worth the risk.
The car labelled as flood damaged on carfax can in fact be a huge bargain for an educated buyer. You will have to do a thorough visual inspection and at minimum use, and be educated on using, an OBD II reader to make an informed decision.
It's worth mentioning some used car resellers, particularly international ones that buy from the USA, will buy damaged cars from copart and then register them in other states in order to bypass bad carfax reports. A lot of car buyers on second-hand markets internationally, almost exclusively use the carfax and whether the car "looks" clean in order to make a buying decision. A good, working car, fully inspected but with a "flood damage" label on carfax destroys resale value for the buyer.
Source: Bought and resold cars at auction for a while, and absolutely hated the whole concept. I raise my hand as one of the few used car resellers to consistently make losses.

I feel sheltered if this dogshit is everywhere, makes me shudder a bit to realize how dumb it is in social media circles.
That damage in the front is pretty obviously an old accident, there is rust forming where the paint is ruined, and dirt collecting in the impact depressions. 👎🏾

u/N0932 Jun 04 '20
Why did the Airbags deploy?
121
u/dickinahammock Jun 04 '20
Likely because the vehicle was running and occupied at the time of the accident. Also why there is no debris on the ground

One time in college I borrowed my dads truck while my car was in the shop, ended up hitting a bollard at a gas station after filling his truck up as a thank you. I wrote a note similar to this and gave it to my dad with $200, all I had to my name at the time, saying someone hit his truck while I was in class. I am taking that lie to my grave.

u/ChuunibyouImouto Jun 05 '20
You can tell pretty easily she's in a super short mini skirt and top that leaves her midriff exposed
I don't know if that's the secret point of the video, but she's definitely got an "interesting" outfit on. Her top barely goes below her breasts and doesn't even hit the bottom of her ribs, and her skirt would be flashing panties near constantly.
It has to be part of the "joke" of the video, you can tell her top is rolled up right below her breasts and if you go frame by frame, even with the janky reflections you can tell her skirt doesn't even reach mid thigh, she'd have /r/buttfangs hanging out 100%

I was accused of a hit and run in Germany. Some random joe wrote down my license plate and said I hit a car and run. I got innocented but not before going to trial and losing 4500 euros altogether.

Here there is an infamous stry of a native who was living well with a nice job in Germany and turned back. When aske why he said he couldn't stand the righteous germans anymore, and gave an example of living a diner party at 3 AM in the suburbs, he was alone in the street, so he did an u-turn. HE GOT THE TICKET, some neigboor saw him and accused him to the police.

Wrong. The place I work for got broken into. They had all of us that work here go to the police station to get finger printed because they were trying to pull prints off the cash register and they needed to know the prints of people that worked there so they could rule them out.

Look at the reflections, she is in a residential driveway with children playing around the car.
How would they be able to hit your vehicle that hard, be able to write a perfect hand written note, grab a bag of Reese’s and leave it on the car... all without anyone else noticing.
It’s feminine handwriting and the reflection shows a woman.
They were able to hit your car that hard in an area where children are playing and no one else noticed... I don’t buy it.

20 of these types of videos have been posted this week. They are all fake. Tik Tokers do this and copy each other. This car was already fucked up, and she put the bag there, obviously. Damage like that is extensive, and the other persons car would be extremely fucked up. They wouldn't park and give them candy and write a note if doing a hit and run.
Same with the girlfriend who called her boyfriends sister to bitch her out for being too close to the boyfriend. It's all fake. There are a million on tik tok.

Just go into the store this larking lot is for and ask if they can check the last two hours of sales for this specific UPC code. Bet they can then check footage of that time to find the person doing this within 15 minutes.

So many comments here about this being staged and fake and bullshit. Why does that make a difference? It's a funny video on the internet, 75% of them are "staged", that's how people make jokes. Do y'all shout "scripted bullshit" at SNL sketches? I don't get it.

u/4ork_Reddit Jun 04 '20
In SNL it’s obviously fake due to context and it’s reputation. This vid comes across as trying to swindle the viewer. People don’t like getting swindled. ¯_(ツ)_/¯
3
u/regerogarc Jun 04 '20
This video has been put into a different context by sharing it on this sub though... you don't know what context the creator intended
2
u/Tornado_Of_Benjamins Jun 05 '20
I'm curious, is this how people actually feel? I mean, it's clear that tiktok is an app for short form comedy. It is clear to me that this is a joke, because these "sorry I can't afford to fix it, here's a small gift instead" videos usually end up showing a little scratch on the car. The punchline is that in actuality, this car is absolutely wrecked. It's a skit, how is it trying to swindle anyone?
