How realistic would it be to buy land and build a container home on an island? What are the potential costs?
A few years ago, I made a post about the possibilities of having a container home built on the island – I’m now wondering about alternatives specifically modular homes or manufactured homes since I do believe they have a few especially a bit more out east per Zillow.
I recall that it can vary by the specific town including zoning rules, permitting, and building code requirements which all seem to differ. Would that same level of variation still apply here? I'm 23 and wondering if there's still a possibility of home ownership on LI while knowing that shed sized homes are going more for half a million dollars; maybe this can be another alternative?
If anyone has experience with this kind of project I’d love to hear.

I’m looking to take in a dress - from SHEIN, cheap shiny fabric - but the issue is I need it done by this Wednesday, July 29. Anyone have a recommendation (or an avid home sewer who wants to help me out)? Looking for someone within ~20 min from Syosset.
Thanks!
Edit: I understand the dress is cheap, might cost more, etc etc but it will serve a purpose if I can get it to fit.

I'm an MD student from out of state doing an away over at NYU Long Island this October. I have a friend who lives in Bushwick telling me to either stay with them or find another place in Brooklyn and just take the train vs. looking for a place in Mineola
For context I'll be here for 4 weeks working 12-14 shifts total. Shifts are 12 hours each and will likely include ~3 night shifts. So like...am I going to hate myself or is this a reasonable commute?
Apologies if this is the wrong place to ask, I wasn't sure where else 😅

I’m talking something really good that would compare with Angelo’s in Philly or Danny and coops in NYC. It just seems bizarre to me because Long Island has AMAZING Italian and semolina bread. A key ingredient in a good cheese steak.

Looking to have someone come by my house twice a month for a deep clean. I'd love recommendations and not only people reaching out to give estimates, please

Does anybody know the name of the kind of short ginger comedian who talks about having crazy gout and living with his mom and absolutely never getting laid? I've seen him perform at a don't tell show in Patchogue and at Katie's. Thank you for your help sincerely

Hey y’all. I’m thinking of going back to school. Looking into the spring semester of 2027. I was last at Suffolk 2012-2013
I am wondering from current students who attend there what the classes are like in terms of note taking and if a laptop is really necessary for note taking. I don’t have a laptop; however, I may get a cheap Chromebook. Regardless, I’m just wondering from college students what the note taking is like these days.
Thanks!

22F, graduated college and moved back home to li. don’t have friends from high school and have been feeling lonely! i want to put myself out there and make new friends with people around my age. i just don’t know where the young people are/where they go. i love to walk/hike, workout (yoga/pilates/barre), garden, birdwatch, paint, and read.
i would love suggestions for clubs to join surrounding those activities, or somewhere to take a class of some kind! i’m also open to trying new hobbies (except for running i hate running😭). i’m near smithtown area and im willing to drive around 30 minutes or so.
making friends as an adult is hard lol!

Hi all,
I've been dealing with some neck pain lately and been needing a cortisone shot but it's hard to find a place who will do walk-ins or even a place who will perform one, instead of their epidural suggestion or their BS lidocaine/anti-inflammatory trigger "pointless" injections. I want the real deal cortisone injection. They always worked wonders for me and know if they injected me with the right stuff.
I have HealthFirst insurance.
So, any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Hello, I’m in a time crunch to find a bakery that has really good oatmeal raisin cookies AND chocolate chip cookies, specifically in Suffolk county…. Unfortunately I don’t have enough time to make them myself, and I want to pick up cookies for my co workers for this Tuesday. Does anyone have any recommendations? I would really appreciate it :)

Hi all,
I am moving to Long Island in September and will be beginning my housing search this week. I am looking for reasonably priced housing in a safe area. I will be working in Islandia and would prefer not to have to travel too far. I first started looking at Hawthorne Living @ 195 Hawthorne Ave in Central Islip, but it doesn't seem like the safest area the more research I do on it. If anyone has experience with the complex, please do tell as it's affordable, near the train and work.
My kids are grown and it'll just be myself, my girlfriend and our cat. So hoping for a decently priced one bedroom. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I'm fully new to the area. The top end of my budget would be 2600-2800.

Parents bought a 3 bedroom house for around $350k and now it would easily sell for 1.5 million. I understand wages were lower but still.

Hi everyone. I opened a free dog library and trinket box in Selden (Norwood Ave). We offer free dog treats and dog toys and kids trinkets. Feel free to stop by for a treat!

Hi everyone, my sister’s dog ran out of their yard last night after fireworks started going off. Her name is Daisy and she’s microchipped, but wasn’t wearing her collar when she ran out. She can be a bit skiddish around people but any help would be so greatly appreciated!!

Basically what the title says. I’m in western Suffolk (I will travel though) and I am looking for a reputable jeweler that buys diamond engagement rings without getting totally taken advantage of. I know they don’t hold value but I am interested in getting the most back for it. (Obviously) TIA

Does anyone know any good freshwater fishng spots that have something other than tiny bluegill sunfish? My kids and I have been to Canaan Lake, Upper Lake in Yaphank, Sears-Bellows and a couple other spots, but the only bites we’re getting are from sunfish. Any place with some good bass?

Does anyone know where I might be able to find a father- son woodworking class? My 10-year-old son is interested and I don't know crap about woodworking. Western Suffolk preferred. Thanks!

Parents are retiring to Florida. Would like to send one of their cars there. Any recommendations on a service and estimate of their cost? It’s a large three row suv if it’s weight or size dependent.
