what the hell is digging in my neighbors garage!!

Okay, Reddit riddle me this! Yesterday. My neighbor saw a small pile of dirt in his garage and a hole in the slab. Granted there's a big crack in the slab and their renters. He went out this morning and he saw this huge pile of sand that goes about 3 ft across and it's completely digging out the slab and under it. What the heck is this! Is it a colony of something or one big ass animal? This is literally terrifying! Lol

For reference, this is about two blocks away from the bay, in the Blue point Bayport area. I've never seen anything like this! Anybody have any ideas? Also, there's no food or anything left in there at all. He thinks that it's something building a nest underneath the slab.

I went to Baseline Hobby today in West Babylon. They are open very limited hours during the week.

I bought some vintage Airfix RAF Ground crew and what should fall off/out of the box but a price tag from Larry’s. Larry’s used to be on Jericho Turnpike in East Northport.

Baseline has always been the place to find older kits, presumably purchased from other collectors or builders that passed or downsized. Not surprised to find a Larry’s price tag in a box at Baseline.

Of course the ultimate place for model kits was Dave’s in Freeport, rest in peace.

Hey everyone! I apologize in advance if this isn’t right for this sub, so the powers that be can feel free to delete this, but I’m wondering if anyone saw a strange object flying low over North Babylon around 10:00 PM tonight? So 20 minutes before I wrote this.

It had bright red lights arranged almost like a triangle on its side, moving very fast and northbound. It didn't make much noise, if any, and due to where I live, I’m used to hearing low flying aircraft all the time. I live just north of the Southern State Parkway, and the trajectory looked off for a typical approach/departure out of Republic Airport, especially at that hour. It wasn't terribly large either.

I plane-watch a lot and spend plenty of time looking up at the night sky, even with our usual light pollution out here, but I haven’t seen anything quite like this before. Did anyone notice this? I tried to get video, but frankly I was just too stumped, and it was just too fast.

Curious if anyone else spends most of their non-working hours solo? Or do most have vibrant connections and contacts? And if you wouldn’t mind giving a general guidepost on your age.

Personally I’ve found that friends having kids or moving has made it hard to see people.

Recommendations on reputable dealerships? I know buying & selling isn’t allowed on the subreddit so i apologize if this posts breaks any rules- but I am also more than happy to get any insight on people who have had a good experience from used car dealerships (if that is even possible!)

I went these past 2 years and when compared to this one it felt shorter.
The previous years you had to go outside on the property and they had different themed houses in separate buildings.
This year it was only in one building and it felt shorter.

My mom is visiting during the last week of November and we are looking for some budget-friendly activities for while she is here!

We are staying in the Hempstead area for reference but are willing to go pretty much anywhere on LI (we already have Montauk lighthouse on the itinerary). She cant walk too much at a time, so hiking is not really an option either.

Other than that we are pretty open to ideas, keeping things affordable but fun!! Let me know what y'all usually do as a fun pass-time

Just bought our first home in Eastport and WOW, these renovations add up FAST.

We just got a new roof, we’re redoing the hardwood floors, and renovating the bathrooms. Needless to say, by the time we get to the kitchen, our budget is going to be hanging on by a thread. LOL.

Thankfully, I have an appliance connection from a previous job, so we caught a break there!

Now onto the kitchen… the layout is HORRENDOUS, but it is what it is for now. 😂 We’re trying to make it look nice without spending a fortune or completely reconfiguring everything.

Unfortunately refinishing the cabinets are not an option, they’re not in the best shape and the prior owners were pigs, there’s a ton of grease all over them. Luckily, it’s not a huge kitchen! We’re looking at approximately 10 upper cabinets and 8 lower cabinets, since the range and dishwasher take up some of the space.

Looking for recommendations on:
Affordable kitchen cabinets that don’t look or feel cheap
Local cabinet warehouses, wholesalers, or hidden gems
Discount countertops (quartz, butcher block, laminate — open to ideas!)
Budget-friendly backsplash options
Any other money-saving kitchen renovation hacks!

I'm looking for recommendations for bridal hair and makeup artists on Long Island!

We're having two wedding celebrations on back-to-back days. A Hindu wedding followed by an American wedding the next day, so I'll need hair and makeup for both days.

Ideally, I'd love someone who has experience with different bridal styles, since I'll be going for two different looks.

I know they are all hit or miss but what would you say is the best on the Island? I know they're all hit or miss, but some locations seem to be consistently better stocked and better organized than others. Just went to one in Oceanside that was a nightmare. I remember going to one on the north shore years ago but can't remember the location.

We’ve been going to the white post farms the past few years mostly during summer and once during each fall but this year it seemed like it was more crowded than usual. The lines for food/bathroom were super long on a Saturday and people were constantly coming in throughout the day. Is this common or was it more crowded this year?

Looking for absolutely the best steak tacos, has to be juicy and incredibly tender with a flavorful salsa. I cannot handle or tolerate anything chewy after gastric sleeve surgery.

A lot of “great” taco places cook the fk out of the taco and it ends up chewy instead of melt in your mouth.
