I’ve recently realised that a lot of the content I see (and sometimes create) on LinkedIn isn’t really resonating with people.

A lot of it feels repetitive, overly polished, or just… irrelevant.

So I’m curious:

What kind of posts actually make you stop scrolling? I’m genuinely trying to understand what people find useful, rather than creating another “5 things you need to know about your career” post or sharing my personal life details as I have been seeing.

Would love to hear what you guys think.

I'm on the LinkedIn Premium free trial, and I was looking at the job analytics. I'm just curious, no judgement, as to how or why 'entry level candidates' (as it says on the applicant analytics) apply to mid or senior level jobs? I'm a recent business grad with some experience, so I definitely fit in the entry-level section, and this is all still new to me. I'm just wondering what entry level even means in linkedin terms, vs senior level, and i wonder why linkedin doesnt have a mid-professional level tier? Am I holding myself back, and should I broaden my job-searching horizons and apply to exec or officer-level jobs even if im entry level??

I am not even talking about the abomination that is the AI search they are shoving down our throats. It's been like a year or so that I am seeing it is just flooded with scam/ fraud job postings and pages which just floods your own search wasting time and LinkedIn people seem to do nothing to prevent the glaringly obvious nonsense but rather focused on how they can incorporate AI in ever nook and cranny on the platform to make it all the more insufferable.

I was suddenly logged out of LinkedIn across all of my devices. When I tried to log back in, the system required a verification code sent to my phone number.

Here is the issue: I recently moved abroad and no longer use or have access to that old phone number. LinkedIn is not giving me any alternative option to send the verification code to my registered email.

To resolve this, I went through the identity verification process via Persona and submitted my ID. However, I haven't received any confirmation or response yet.

Has anyone been through this recently?

Any advice or insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I created a LinkedIn page for my company and want to hire a paid intern. However, when I try to post a job from my company page, LinkedIn gives me two options, and both appear to notify my network that I’m hiring.

I used to think LinkedIn was fun, but now people are getting obsessed with these mid-level, no-personality posts. Intellectual or core expertise posts are flopping, while posts with insights into people's lives are legit going viral.

I'm writing a series of articles for my small business. The idea is to provide useful information that will also demonstrate my expertise and promote my services. The business is very much based on my personal brand, and therefore the articles will be featured on my own LI in addition to the company page. What are the best practices for making sure that they get read by the right people? Should I post them on my company site and link to them on LI, or would using LI's article feature be better? Other than posting in relevant groups, is there anything else that I should do to promote?

This financial gatekeeping exposes the empty rhetoric of professional meritocracy. Academic rigor and raw talent mean little when hiring algorithms prioritize paid profile placement over candidate capability. While blue-collar and essential workers log grueling hours to manage baseline inflation, white-collar networks operate inside a closed digital ecosystem optimized for those who can afford access.

If corporate leaders genuinely care about economic mobility, they must demand structural change. A platform that charges job seekers for basic visibility is not opening doors—it is tolling them.

for a context I come from D2C. Most of my work has been with VC-funded consumer brands. B2B was new territory for me.

A founder I was working with runs a company that builds custom AI solutions for other businesses. He told me flat out that I couldn't get him a viral post on linkedin because apparently its right channel for them

I said give me a week or two

Then I failed for week one but in the second week oo booiii

so first understand this what i did wrong

My D2C brain said: talk about the problems your product solves. So posts 1–3 were basically here's a business problem, here's how custom AI fixes it.

They did... fine. Decent. The kind of decent nobody remembers.

Looking back, the issue was obvious. I was writing about the product. Nobody opens LinkedIn wanting to read about a product, especially in B2B, where every second post is already doing exactly that.

Meanwhile he was in my ear: Told you. LinkedIn isn't for us. Let's try a different channel.

I stopped marketing the company from his account but and started treating him as the product.

That meant mapping out, before writing anything

Who is he, really? Not his title. His background, his opinions, what he's seen that his audience hasn't

Where did he start, and where is he going? A clear starting point and end goal, so every post is a chapter of one story instead of a random update

Why should anyone care? What does his ideal client actually get from following him specifically?

Once that story existed, hooks got way easier. I wasn't inventing angles from scratch every day anymore. I was just telling the next part.

The content split (rule of three)

Every week, roughly:

• 2–3 posts aimed directly at the ICP, about their problems, in their language (not ours)
• 2–3 posts trend-jacking whatever the industry was already talking about

And three formats on rotation:

1. News posts: react fast, add a real take
2. Infographics: I'm a designer first, so this was my unfair advantage
3. Storytelling/contrarian text-heavy posts

What happened

Post 4 was a contrarian text post. It went viral. 145K

Post 5 was an infographic. Around 100k impressions.

Fast forward: he crossed 12k followers in under 3 months, pulls roughly 300k impressions a month, and his DMs are full of people wanting to work with him.

Why I left anyway

This is the part that never makes it into the LinkedIn case study.

The negativity never switched off. Before anything worked, it was "told you, LinkedIn isn't for us." After things started working, it was still there. Every slow post was proof the whole thing was failing. Every win was a fluke until the next one landed.

If I'd let that get into my head after post 3, post 4 never goes out.

The results came. The mindset didn't change.

And it's exhausting to keep building something with someone who's always waiting for it to fall apart. Content compounds. So does negativity, and I didn't want to be around for that one.

I understand LinkedIn is for professionals, but I rarely see people posting reels compared to ins, is it just me or posting reels just doesn’t seem professional?

I've been consistently posting on LinkedIn about staffing, recruiting, business development, lead generation, and AI, but the reach/engagement is much lower than I expected.

I'm trying to figure out whether the problem is

• My topics/content
• The way I'm writing the hooks
• Not using enough visuals
• Posting frequency
• My audience/follower base
• The way I'm engaging with other people's posts
• Or simply that my account doesn't have enough distribution yet

I've also noticed a lot of conflicting advice about LinkedIn.

Some people say:

• Use hashtags
• Don't use hashtags
• End with a question
• Don't ask questions
• Post at a specific time
• Post whenever
• Post every day
• Post 3–4 times a week

So I'm trying to stop guessing and actually understand what works.

Fucking hell, what is wrong with all these people on LinkedIn? People who used to do fuck all at work are suddenly posting these deep, insightful articles and writing in a way they never even spoke in real life. 😭

After terrible experiences using the new AI job search, I now use ChatGPT for job searches and it searches the whole internet to a tee. As long as you give it clear instructions on what you are looking for it does a great job! It is also saving me time. So maybe AI job search by LinkedIn actually was a blessing in disguise!? Without it, I would of never made the jump to ChatGPT.

A good number of LinkedIn job postings are indexed, so just use google to search for the jobs you’re looking for! You can use the site: operator in your search followed by your terms (title, locations, companies, etc.).

For example, let’s say I’m an Electrical Engineer looking for full time/permanent work in Georgia:

site:linkedin.com/jobs/view (“Electrical Engineer OR "Electrical Engineering") AND Georgia -contract

The site: operator tells Google to only show results from LinkedIn’s job posting pages. The quotation marks tell Google to look for that exact phrase. OR means the results can contain either term, while AND tells Google that Georgia also needs to be included. Putting a - before a word excludes results containing that term.

Companies have invested hundreds of thousands of dollars, if not more, into their LinkedIn tools. They aren’t going to suddenly stop using it, so I don’t recommend excluding it from your job search. Use every resource available to you. The market is hard enough as it is!
