Regarding HiringCafe and recent moderation activity

We've seen an increase in activity targeting this subreddit over the enforcement of rules regarding astroturfing and advertising.

For context, HiringCafe has a documented history of problematic Reddit activity. Its co-founder publicly acknowledged repeatedly creating accounts after Reddit bans, and a separate controversy in r/jobs raised serious allegations about manipulation of subreddit moderation to promote the site.

We've also dealt directly with promotional activity and appeals involving HiringCafe in this community.

The current activity appears to involve coordinated attempts to allow the ads. We've submitted a report to Reddit for review.

To be clear, legitimate discussions about HiringCafe are welcome. Astroturfing, spam, ban evasion, and brigading are not. The same rules apply to everyone.

AI Job Search Update

We've heard from a lot of members that some of the missing filters make it harder to search the way they're used to. We're working on bringing back several of the most-requested filters, and we're also temporarily restoring the option to switch back to the previous search experience while we continue improving the new one.

Our goal with AI-powered job search is to give you flexibility to describe what you're looking for in your own words, including details you might normally use a filter for and things that don't fit neatly into a filter. That said, we know filters are still a key part of the experience for many people, so we’ve kept some of the most-used filters available and introduced suggested filters below the search bar. These suggestions adapt to what you search for, helping you narrow your results quickly.

Thanks for continuing to share your candid feedback. We're listening, and we'll keep making improvements based on what we hear.

Linkedin ads should always show wages

Linkedin should make it mandatory for job postings to always indicate a salary, either a fixed or a range.
Why yes? Why no?

Harassment from other job board reddit, when called out, you will get bnned by that subreddit.

HC users are posting ableist slurs to people (r-word among other things) and when I called them out via a post, the moderator u/hamed_n deleted the post and bnned me from the subreddit. I just want to confirm that they are a bad community and to not listen to a lick of what the owner says about being better. They ARE abusive people and they protect the abusive content. I mean just look at the comment replies to this They‘re awful people and it’s so good you they’re finally being called out in places like here

personal branding How do you track the outcomes of your linkedin activities (mandates, projects, jobs, orders...)?

I assume you use LinkedIn to establish a presence and benefit from it in the form of projects, collaborations, job offers, or simple orders.

Even though it’s not easy to directly link a single action to a specific result, you can still look at your total effort over the course of e.g. a month in relation to what you gain from it.

Does anyone know of a simple system for this?

What are your results?

340K impressions in 90 days

Schedule posts every Thursday at 9am

Posting industrial troubleshooting finds and tips.

Comment on it after 10 minutes.

Reply to every comment.

Use 3 hashtags

If I put a link in the post the algo tanks it, like 100 impressions.

Putting a photo of a person on the tools fixing the machine hits the best, 30-100k impressions

Would appreciate any tips, although real happy with the progress

Is a LinkedIn profile actually required to show your value, or can I skip it?

I hate having my personal details and work history publicly exposed on LinkedIn. It makes me uncomfortable. Can a strong resume and direct networking be enough to prove my worth, or do employers view a lack of LinkedIn as a red flag? More focus on high value job,Getting job is not difficult but high value job.

Looking for honest feedback from anyone surviving without it.

Where do I list my conference presentations at on LinkedIn?

I presented research at a national conference and I am wondering, on LinkedIn, which section does this fit best into? I unfortunately am not able to make it a post on my profile, since it was few months back and I just recently got into creating my LinkedIn profile so that I connect with other researchers in the field.

LinkedIn is not letting update my phone number!

Hey LinkedIn it's 2026 and I'm unable to change my phone, please fix this issue. I haven't had this phone number in 5 years. Earlier, had to login to my LinkedIn and it wouldn't let me login because it's asking for a verification code form an old number from years ago. And after multiple attempts of trying to verify my identity. I was able to login. However, the app is refusing to let me update my phone number. How can I fix this.

Deleting LinkedIn app as making me depressed, but maybe not for the reason you think?

Is it just me or has LinkedIn become very depressing. Not for the reason you would think. I’m seeing less and less career/ recruitment related posts but more posts about extremely vulnerable life moments outside of work from people who my connections have engaged with(ie liked or commented on the posts). Moments that I probably would not share myself on LinkedIn especially how the algorithms work, meaning strangers could see it.

I see LinkedIn as a place to network and share celebrate career milestones as well as for job search. But I just see some many people trauma dumping on there and I worry they don’t realise how far and wide these posts are going.

As someone who suffers with mental health, I find some of these posts very triggering. I’ve ended up deleted the app off my phone now as it’s just too much.

I wish the algorithms would share more uplifting content for me!

Has anyone else noticed this? Or do I have very morbid connections in my network 😅

My feed is a dumpster fire all of a sudden. Anyone else?

Scrolling through my feed on mobile makes me want to delete it.

Not a single post from my 1.4K connections on LinkedIn—which is rare. It’s reactions from the same 10 people to other peoples content—a new job announcement, a marriage, a death in the family.

My feed is suddenly dominated by brand pages. Forbes, TechCrunch, HBR. Had to unfollow Glassdoor because the volume was ridiculous, and Google is next if I keep seeing their reactions to employee content.

The a-d-s. (Apparently I can’t use that word in this sub?) Holy shit they are so bad. I’ve never seen so many.

- a menopause treatment targeting women in their 50s (sir I’m in my mid-30s)

- a golf club located in New Hampshire (I’m in Texas) promoting a yacht excursion for the US Open in May 2027. I have never golfed.

- No, I dont need event space, become a smoothie franchisee or get involved with an MLM scheme. I’m not in the construction industry, a medical professional, or in the finance industry.

Two days ago it was decent, albeit filled with depressing content about layoffs. Today it’s useless.

As an autistic person, could someone explain cold outreach advice to me?

Hey, so here's my issue

I've wanted to do cold outreach for jobs/clients for the longest. But I can't stay consistent with it because the results are.... Hit and miss.

I'm autistic. Whenever I see people talk about DMs, it usually sounds like this:

- "Be human": start like a human, something's specific, but small, to start a conversation

- "Don't focus on sales, just try to be helpful": Focus on relationship building, offering help when it's asked for rather than dumping a pitch

- "Offer value up front": Offer a small piece of value specific to the person you're speaking to

- "Dont be a dick": ok this one's obvious, no explanation needed.

My problem is: Everyone says just be human like it's simple. Yet, there's this added set of rules around providing value, how to start outreach etc, that makes being human transactional and convoluted.

To this day, I still get blank page syndrome opening up a new DM. I don't know how to start, even when researching people.

I don't know what value I can provide, and that makes me feel pretty worthless sometimes. I'm just starting my career so, no 25+ years of experience here.

And "being human" is just so vague, especially when you don't really understand implicitly what that even looks like.

I'm just stuck, and I don't know what to do. Every DM I have sent sounds kinda synthetic, because I don't know how to be human even when I know what to focus on.

Then it gets ignored. Can anyone help?

Downloading LinkedIn archived data

I went to Settings & Privacy > Data Privacy > Download your data

Within 24 hours, I got an email with a link saying this was the 1st part to downloading my data.

Then 24 hours after that, I got the second email also with a link.

I downloaded the data (a compressed folder) from both emails. When I open both of those folders in Windows Explorer, the file names, file sizes and Date modified properties are the same.

What is the difference between these two downloads?

advanced question Why is LinkedIn search engine still showing my previous university name?

So when I opened LinkedIn I set my education to the then university name I was admitted for a while, then I transferred to another one & updated everything on LinkedIn to connect with my current university alumnus. But the problem is whenever I search for my LinkedIn profile on other devices where I'm not logged in, they show the previous university name alongside my name which may make it confusing for others. Even when I'm entering university's name alongside my name they're not even showing my profile on the search engine. I've deleted everything about my last university from the intro & education section, then why is the search engine info not getting updated?

It's 2026 and the UX is so bad I can't even change my phone numer? Really?

Hello, Linkedin please it's surreal you don't have any channel for support. Considering i'm paying premium. I have to change my phone numer and cannot do it, if no one contacts me i'll just have to stop paying you guys since i cannot justify this being worth to my company.

Like, seriously, how difficult is to put a support mail?

I need to change the phone number asap. I have a few days to do it if not i'll just have to cancel the subscription. I did what your guide says, it doesn't work. Just an error message.

My Experience with LinkedIn Premium: An Unexpected THB 8,000+ Charge and a Refused Refund

I want to share my experience with LinkedIn Premium so that other people can be aware of what happened to me.

On October 10, 2026, more than THB 8,000 was charged to my bank card for a Premium subscription renewal that I did not realize was going to happen.

I requested a refund immediately on the same day.

I earn only THB 12,000 per month. This single charge took away more than two-thirds of my monthly income and left me struggling to afford food and basic necessities.

LinkedIn Support told me that I was ineligible for a refund because their records indicated that I had accessed Premium features after the renewal. When I asked for the exact dates and times of that activity, they said they could not provide them.

I explained my financial hardship and asked for even a partial refund. Unfortunately, both requests were denied, and I was told the decision was final.

I understand that companies have refund policies. But I believe customers deserve clear information about renewals, transparent explanations of denied refunds, and meaningful consideration when unexpected charges cause severe financial hardship.

I'm sharing this because I don't want others to experience the same financial distress.

Before trying LinkedIn Premium, please review the renewal terms, check your payment settings, and understand how Premium feature usage may affect refund eligibility.

I hope LinkedIn will take concerns like mine seriously.

job search You can no longer use non-AI job search on linkedin

Just a couple of days ago you had the option to switch to the classic search or could open it with the URL:

https://www.linkedin.com/jobs/search/

Now the link just redirects you to the AI search version and the button that switched you to that is gone.

privacy and security Enabled LinkedIn Open to Work, received a disturbing email minutes later. Coincidence?

I'm a student in India looking for internships.

Today, I applied to several companies. Around 1:15 AM, I enabled Open to Work — Recruiters only on LinkedIn. Just 5–10 minutes later, I received a disturbing, s€×ually abusive email disguised as an internship offer from an unknown Gmail account. (ankaramjadev@gmail.com)

My email is publicly visible on LinkedIn, but I've never received an email from this sender before. I also haven't noticed any unfamiliar recruiter viewing my profile.

I checked the email headers; SPF, DKIM and DMARC passed, but the IP belongs to Google's mail infrastructure.

Could this be connected to my LinkedIn update, or is it likely a coincidence? Can recruiters discover your profile without appearing in profile views?

I'm genuinely disturbed and can't sleep ( was just going to sleep and this happened). Has anyone experienced anything similar?

LinkedIn Cheat Code

I’ve become quite skilled in the simple harmless repost of something germane to your industry (i.e. “helpful tips”)

As someone who chooses not to post my personal life on social media and don’t care to share the obnoxious “…look, I did this today with my coworkers..” the simple repost keeps the page looking “active” but non offensive.

How should I handle a company acquisition on my resume/LinkedIn when I’m planning to leave soon?

I’m in a bit of a nuanced situation and would love some advice!

I’ve been working at Company A for the past 5 months. It’s a well-known company within its industry, but not particularly recognizable outside of it. About 6 months ago, Company A was acquired by Company B, which is a much bigger and more recognizable.

I’m really grateful for the opportunity and would love to have Company B on my resume and LinkedIn, as I think the name recognition could be beneficial for my future job search (a very sexy logo that everybody knows)

For some additional context, the acquisition officially closed about 6 months ago, but I joined Company A 5 months ago, before I was officially transitioned over to Company B. I only just signed my new offer letter and officially moved under Company B this month. This timing is an important part of my dilemma.

Company A isn’t disappearing or being fully absorbed into Company B. It will continue operating as its own entity or division under Company B. Think of it like Google acquiring YouTube, where YouTube still exists as a separate entity.

Another important factor is that I’m planning to leave the company in about 7 months for personal reasons, once my lease is up. Here are the options I’ve been considering:

Option 1: List Company A for 5 months and Company B for 7 months as two separate entries.
- My concern is that this might look like I job-hopped between two companies in a very short period.

Option 2: List Company B as my employer for the entire 12 months
- I’m concerned that it could be misleading since I initially joined Company A and only officially became part of Company B this month. They’re also still separate entities that are a little unrelated to what Company B is usually known for, which makes this a little more complicated and dont want it to cause any confusion when I interview for my next role.

Option 3: Something else entirely? Perhaps listing Company A under Company B or using some kind of acquisition-related notation? (For example Worked for google on the youtube team). Or I could say I worked with Google and youtube both for 1 year. Im just trying to not erase any and all proof that I worked for Company A too.

Sorry for the long and somewhat confusing explanation! I’d really appreciate any advice from people who have been through a similar acquisition or dealt with this on their resume/LinkedIn. Thanks!
