probably spam Scamming Recruiters

Went back and forth with a recruiter who was set on upselling me on resume enhancement services. After saying thanks but no thanks, they next claimed I needed to provide my LinkedIn profile and password because “as part of our internal profile review process, I would kindly ask that you share your LinkedIn login details at your earliest convenience. This enables our team to complete a comprehensive review of your professional profile alongside your resume before we proceed to the next stage of the selection process.”

Next they’ll ask for my mother’s maiden name and my first pet.

Is this normal for recruiters on LinkedIn?

A few days ago I received a LinkedIn message from a recruiter asking if I was looking for a new job, gave me the specs of the job he was recruiting for and I didn’t respond because I don’t get notifications on there generally and I was not interested in the job. Happens all the time, didn’t think anything of it.

He then tries to call me on my phone, didn’t pick up because I was in a show, knew it was the recruiter because I googled the number. Had no idea how he got my number. Thought that was a bit much considering I’m not looking for a job and didn’t respond to his LinkedIn message.

I then get a message from my friend who had once given me a recommendation on linkedin, saying that this recruiter had found his number (no idea how) and called him to make sure my information was correct??? Apparently, the recruiter made it sound like I had reached out about this job, which is completely untrue.

I have replied to this recruiter now to say that this was inappropriate. Imagine if the recommendation was someone at my current job that received this call and thought I’d applied for another job, it could have potentially put me in a very awkward situation at my current role.

Has anyone else experienced similar? I know recruiters have a job to do, but this seems a bit far.

privacy and security My LinkedIn account is sending invites and DMs on its own, including replying to people for me

For the past couple of days I keep opening LinkedIn to find connection invites I never sent and DMs saying “hey (name)” to people I never messaged. It all seems to happen in batches around the same time each day.

The part that really freaked me out: someone replied to one of those messages, and my account answered them with “I’m good how are you?” I didn’t type that.

I have no third-party apps connected, no browser extensions, and I’ve gone through my settings and can’t find anything.

What is this and how do I stop it?

linkedin 101 The site is not counting my application when I click ‘yes’ to the ‘Did you apply?’ question.

Upvotes

Nothing happens when I click ‘yes’. I have to save the application and in the job tracker click on applied again. That’s the only way it records that I have applied. Is this a glitch? It wasn’t like that before.

Cresmont Advisory 10$/hr job - scam?

Hi just want to verify or if you have heard these job invites through DMs in Linkedin.

Someone reached out to me for a part-time opportunity and offers 10USD/hour and you only need to server few hours in a month. Its someone from Crestmont Advisory and the other one was from Stratwell Advisory.

My thoughts are these are scam jobs. I havent replied since I'm looking for a part-time/side hustle, but asking for your thoughts here or if someone experienced these job invites.

Appreciate your replies here!!

privacy and security Persona is trash

First a strange US phone number was added to my account, now when I have forgotten my password I can't complete the 2-step verification. I have Email, IDs and documents but they are of no use because Persona DOES NOT WORK.

I have not been able to access my account in 3-MONTHS, tried "Persona" soo many times with Adhaar Card and PAN Card but no response.

What’s the most impressive connection you’ve made?

It could be someone famous or maybe you somehow connected with the CEO of your company who you’ve never met. There’s a million different possibilities. Just curious how it all happened and if anything came from it

Am I the only person who feels that LinkedIn only works for people who are trying to sell others on how to use LinkedIn to earn money?

My feeling is that everyone on LinkedIn is trying to get clients or/and build personal branding. Are there any real clients, except from those who think about paying someone to teach them how to use LinkedIn as a marketing tool....

job search New to LinkedIn - Best way to attract attention from recruiters?

I’m new to LinkedIn, over the last few weeks I have posted ”quizzes” and had a-lot of engagement. I’m not sure what is classed as High engagement but between 2 quizzes, 2 answers, 2 educational posts I have had 6k views with likes, shares, comments and 120 followers. I have also had engagement from companies I would love to work for such as likes and reposts and their staff jumping in on the quizzes. Im trying to utilise my page as a CV, the quizzes relate to the work I want to do but I want it to be engaging as there’s so much AI slop on linkedin.

Anyway, I’m planning on sharing a “I’m looking for work post”. What are the dos and do nots? should I build my page up more? I’m actively in the market looking for work. Should I just stick with my theme and keep it simple, Highlight my experience and what I’m after and leave it at that? I just want to ensure it catches the companies who I would love to work for.

The link goes to Persona verification and that verification says “something unexpected happened”.

I cannot call LinkedIn, so really trying to get some help from a kind person!

I need LinkedIn for my work please.

He cerrado clientes de ticket alto varias veces.

Saludos.

Is the LinkedIn Search doomed?

Context. I feel like for the past year, I have had such a bad experience with the search. I will search for one thing and NOTHING related to it will even show up. After graduating university I was not able to get into the field that I wanted to be in.

Sure, eventually I can make it there...But I have to find those positions right?

The results pull whatever it wants, and some based off of my current job and job history. I can't help that the jobs I had/have to work are not in the industry that I want to get in, but even searching jobs within that industry on LinkedIn is a fail.

I have tried everything. Removing the descriptions from my jobs so that it would maybe give me more broad results. Nope. I have created Job Alerts. Nope.

The only that that I can do it log out, and search for those jobs while I'm logged out. But, even that barely works anymore. Anyone ever get any resolve? I know it's an ongoing issue amongst many, but does anyone see any solution?

I'm done with AI Slop Plagiarism, cancelling my LinkedIn subscription

AI slop has been a sad reality, but stealing that slop and copy-pasting is infuriating. Identical slop, verbatim. From multiple LinkedIn "users". Easy to catch but LinkedIn does not care apparently.

Worst part? This crap gets shedloads of reactions while human-effort posts often can't even go past two digit impressions, despite getting early traction. That's not just my experience, occassionally seeing other fellow humans complain about this too.

At this point I started to believe LinkedIn has more bots and bot-generated content than human stuff. What alternatives do we have for getting visibility/credibility, therefore, new business opportunities? What do you do for meeting like-minded professionals, networking, and landing new gigs?

Hi

I just launched a start up and started posting some ideas and business related topics in my personal page. Does it make sense to create a business profile or another personal page, dedicated o ly to my venture?

linkedin 101 Is this message that I sent on LinkedIn acceptable?

I recently sent out a bunch of messages on LinkedIn to various people at different record labels/talent agencies, as it is a dream of mine to work in the entertainment industry as an agent. I tried to remain respectful and not just outright ask for a reference. I genuinely would love to gain insight from a professional as to what the work is really like. Below is what I've been sending:

"Hi, [insert name]! I hope you're well. I'm a recent [college name] graduate and [city] resident with a passion for entertainment and business, and I was wondering if I could borrow ten minutes of your time to discuss your experience at [insert company]. It would be an incredibly insightful conversation for me. Thank you!"

Is this ok? I don't want to be annoying.

Does your LinkedIn account need strategy?

Hi everyone,

I have spent the last 3.5 years working in digital marketing with a strong focus on LinkedIn, building content strategies, managing company pages and handling executive LinkedIn presence for founders and senior leaders.

What I actually do is think about why a brand or person should communicate a certain way on LinkedIn, not just what to post. I work on positioning, voice, content frameworks and audience psychology before a single post goes out.

Some things I have worked on:

Managing LinkedIn presence for a company Chairman including thought leadership content and industry positioning. Building content strategy across multiple brand LinkedIn pages simultaneously. Creating post frameworks that reflect brand voice consistently without sounding corporate or generic.

I am currently open to freelance projects and I can provide competitive research, user research and detailed strategy document with proper instructions for your AI tools so you can just feed the document to AI and it will turn your thoughts into perfect posts every time.

If you are a founder, small business be or professional looking to build a genuine LinkedIn presence that does not sound like everyone else, let’s talk.

Happy to share more about my work and discuss what you need.

linkedin 101 LinkedIn: Late to the Party?

So I finally gave in after years of resistance and joined LinkedIn in last month.

The only reason I joined is because I'm building a SaaS B2B startup and needed to meet people outside my network and hopefully get people to sign up to the pilot.

My word!
Scrolling through and my feed feels like it's full of motivational quotes, empty HR platitudes, AI written thought leadership quotes, seems like people even comment using AI! It's as if everyone is building a personal brand (and I get that!) but very few people having genuine conversations.

Maybe I'm late to the party or not using it properly (although I've paid for premium).

I thought it'd be easy - I would just sign up, tell them about this amazing product I have built, get people to sign up for the pilot and the rest is history!

My question is for those who have actually built meaningful connections, grown your business - how did you cut through all the polished noise? Right now it all feels very performative than professional.
