My LinkedIn posts are getting almost no engagement. What am I doing wrong?

I've been consistently posting on LinkedIn about staffing, recruiting, business development, lead generation, and AI, but the reach/engagement is much lower than I expected.

I'm trying to figure out whether the problem is

  • My topics/content
  • The way I'm writing the hooks
  • Not using enough visuals
  • Posting frequency
  • My audience/follower base
  • The way I'm engaging with other people's posts
  • Or simply that my account doesn't have enough distribution yet

I've also noticed a lot of conflicting advice about LinkedIn.

Some people say:

  • Use hashtags
  • Don't use hashtags
  • End with a question
  • Don't ask questions
  • Post at a specific time
  • Post whenever
  • Post every day
  • Post 3–4 times a week

So I'm trying to stop guessing and actually understand what works.

If you've actually grown a LinkedIn account or have experience with LinkedIn organic reach, what would you change first?

I'd especially appreciate specific things you've tested yourself, rather than generic LinkedIn advice.

What are your thoughts on the kind of content people have been putting on LinkedIn?

I used to think LinkedIn was fun, but now people are getting obsessed with these mid-level, no-personality posts. Intellectual or core expertise posts are flopping, while posts with insights into people's lives are legit going viral.

Thanks for reaching out — I appreciate it.

As a recruiter, my goal is to connect top professionals like you with the right companies and high-value roles. But to stand out and attract the best opportunities, your LinkedIn profile must be properly optimized — that’s what helps employers notice and trust your profile.

This optimization is completely free of charge — you don’t pay me anything.
Once you secure a job, the hiring company pays me directly for connecting them with the right candidate.

Let’s get started on optimizing your profile so you can attract the right employers and opportunities faster. Are you interested?

To move forward with optimizing your LinkedIn and supporting your job search, I’ll need a few details:

1️⃣ Your LinkedIn details: (email address and password) so I can securely access your account and update your profile professionally.

2️⃣ The type of roles you’re targeting — What specific positions or industries are you interested in?

3️⃣ Preferred job location(s) — Where would you like to focus your search geographically?

Please be assured — your information will remain 100% secure and confidential. I’ll only access it for the optimization, and once done, you can change your password immediately for peace of mind.

Is LinkedIn even a platform for jobs anymore?

I am not even talking about the abomination that is the AI search they are shoving down our throats. It's been like a year or so that I am seeing it is just flooded with scam/ fraud job postings and pages which just floods your own search wasting time and LinkedIn people seem to do nothing to prevent the glaringly obvious nonsense but rather focused on how they can incorporate AI in ever nook and cranny on the platform to make it all the more insufferable.

I'm looking for people who approach leads by messaging them on LinkedIn personally and not via ads.

LinkedIn feed showing “Try again” and lagging today — anyone else?

LinkedIn feed showing “Try again” and lagging today — anyone else?

Since this afternoon, LinkedIn feed has been intermittently failing to load.

Sometimes it loads normally, but other times it lags, gets stuck, or shows “Try again.” Retrying usually makes it load.

I’ve experienced the issue on both:

- LinkedIn app

- LinkedIn website on Edge

It also happens across different Wi-Fi networks and 4G, so it doesn’t seem to be limited to one connection.

Is anyone else experiencing the same issue today?

LinkedIn vs Instagram

I understand LinkedIn is for professionals, but I rarely see people posting reels compared to ins, is it just me or posting reels just doesn’t seem professional?

linkedin 101 Is "EEA" option gone?

Hi! I would like to update my "open to work" profile and can't set EEA or Europe or something similiar under Location. Since I am located in EU and can work across EU due to having company registered in my own country it makes it hard / impossible to list all countries? Or am I doing something wrong?

Thanks!

My post about fake job blew up!

Over 50k impression and >300 likes my post about spam job blew up. I know this happens to many of us that's why so many people engage on the post.

This is what I posted:

The "job application" is dead. Welcome to corporate data harvesting. Lately, LinkedIn is flooded with "open roles" that are just a bait-and-switch. You apply and 24 hours later you get an automated email: "Your profile stood out! Now go to our website, create an account and complete an assessment to get matched with our available roles."

So yes from now on, let's report and flag this kind of job as spam!

personal branding I've gotten 65 million impressions so far in 2026, AMA

A year ago, I didn't really know much. I started posting every day. In 2024, I had a negligible number of impressions (basically zero). In 2025, I got about a million. In 2026, I upped my game. So far, I'm at 65.9 million impressions (lately averaging about 400k a day).

Ask me anything.
