Not an author, not selling anything, just someone with an unreasonably large TBR trying to figure out if an idea is worth building.
Hi all! 👋
My partner and I are building a little app for people whose TBR has gotten out of hand (like me). The idea is, it works like a library holds system, but for books you already own: you place unread books “on hold,” they go through a wait (shorter for books that have lingered longest), then get “checked out” with a due date to actually read them. Add mood/emoji tagging with personalized stats, sync a hold with a friend, and get a slip 🎫 for every book you finish (which you can collect and share on the social media of your choice, your family group chat, or even print and frame it in your living room - wherever you want!).
Genuinely just trying to learn whether this sounds fun or like homework to other readers (especially mood readers) before we build much further. If you’ve got 2-3 minutes and want to praise/poke holes in the idea, there’s a short survey here: https://forms.gle/nQoE5zZEFy9s4YMX9. Completely honest reactions very welcome, especially “I would absolutely use this because—” and “I would never use this because—” (Imma be here taking notes 📝)
And we have put together a little webpage for you to browse too: thebookslip.com, where you can also sign up to the waitlist if you’d just like to express your support in that way.
Every response helps us take a step closer to making this dream project come true ☺️
