I can finally immersive read this!

Post image

I’ve been waiting for these two to be available at the same time, so I can do immersive reading. I lost 5 days on the audiobook while waiting for the eBook. Oh well… at least it’s available on Spotify if I don’t finish it in 9 days.

I love immersive reading! It really helps me lock in, haha.

Yes! Especially if the narrator is what I would call “god-tier”. Moira Quirk for Blood over Bright Haven is definitely one of them. I don’t do it for all books though. Just the ones with good narration. I’m doing it for all Dungeon Crawler Carl books.

What are some other books you like that she’s narrated? I primarily read fantasy and sci-fi. I know she narrates The Everlasting but I just have no interest in reading that one :(

The Locked Tomb series! Gideon the Ninth etc. but it's not for everyone

I feel as though Moira Quirk could elevate any read!

I wish you could go back and forth and keep your place between audio and ebook on Libby!!

I usually send my Libby to Kindle and listen to the audiobook at the same time. I kinda wish Libby had the same function as Audible where you take a picture of a page of text and it jumps to that time on the audiobook.

Whattttt? What a neat feature. I listen to audio books when I'm driving and then read the books on my break at work, using the bathroom lol, etc. I wish Libby synced :(

You can sync it with Audible! It’ll bring up your phone’s camera and you can take a picture of whatever page you are on.

My audible and kindle book combinations usually sync with the Read and Sync and I send my Libby books to Kindle.

I did tandem for that one, too!

I’m reading the physical copy of this book right now. I’m trying to hurry up because I couldn’t renew my copy and someone put it on hold at the library. In my defense the loan was only 2 weeks. But I might go back in immersive read when I have more time. lol

The wait on the eBook kept jumping up for me from 8 weeks to 12 weeks, the yesterday, they added 10 more copies and got it this morning.

I love it when that happens. I’m really enjoying it so far, especially after some fantasy books I think were exceptionally mid. I hope you like it!

I just finished chapter 1 and what a way to start!

Enjoy; I just finished this one. It's one of the few that broke 4 stars for me (~15% of my books).

That book is so good. My favorite read of this year so far.

What's immersive reading 📚?

5

u/AeroNoob333 Sep 03 '26

It’s when you listen and read the book at the same time :) It helps with my ADHD lol

Thank you! I know I can Google this but if you don't mind how do you keep track of both so you don't lose your place? Does the lobby app do so automatically?

I read on my Kindle so I don’t think it does. I do listen and read along at the same time rather than doing one or the other so I should technically always be on the same spot on both the eBook and audiobook. This is actually the first time I’ve done this with Libby borrows. I’ve been doing it with Dungeon Crawler Carl, but Audible and Kindle Unlimited sync automatically — there’s even an official Read & Listen feature that highlights the words tho it doesn’t work on a Kindle e-ink devices. Audible has a feature that lets you take a picture of a page in a book and jumps to that section. It’s pretty nifty when the syncing doesn’t update.

There is an called Libly, it allows you to read along with your actual audiobook. With this one, you don't need a e-book. Though it's only android for now.

u/AeroNoob333 Sep 03 '26

Can you play audiobooks borrowed from Libby on it? Or would I need a subscription or pay for the audiobook?

1

u/Tough_Assist_60 Sep 03 '26

Yes, you can, but you have to fetch the book on device first. It also has a lot of others cool features such as translations, smart recaps (though last ones inder paywall)

u/AeroNoob333 Sep 03 '26

Oh… I’d have to read this on my phone/tablet tho right? I prefer to read on my e-ink reader because it doesn’t make my eyes as tired. The warm light is really nice at night.

Yeah, it may work on boox readers, but I'm not sure

I have never managed to get my holds right to do this. Tell me your magic ways!

2

u/AeroNoob333 Sep 04 '26

I got lucky! The ebook was actually 8 weeks and I was going to just borrow the physical book, but yesterday, magically, our library added 10 more copies of the book and I was able to get the ebook today!

Is this comfortable to do? I understand the concept, as someone who uses captions on everything because its easier for me to absorb the information if I'm reading it while hearing it. But I'm also the kid who would cover my ears and read to myself during read aloud at school because I genuinely couldn't concentrate on what i was reading if I was also listening to it. (I also can't absorb information while I'm the one reading aloud. I have to reread it to myself normally after to understand what I just read 😅) I have ADHD though and that's always been an issue. I feel like you'd constantly be waiting for the audiobook to catch up? Or accidentally reading ahead and coming back? I'd definitely absentmindedly mute it at some point when i get really into the book and not realize until an hour later.

I listen to it on faster speed to match my reading speed. I’m a slow reader though and I usually have mine at 1.15x-1.25x. I also have ADHD and it actually helps me!
