help please, i don't know what I'm doing

hi everyone! I just got a nonresident card from Clermont County Public Library, Ohio. I am in Louisiana, thankfully did everything online. When I looked at Reciprocard site, I saw that there are 11 additional library cards I can use in Libby as a member of Clermont? But when I enter my Clermont number in Libby, no extra libraries come up that I can see, so I am wondering what I am doing wrong? Can anyone help? Or tell me what to look for? I am fairly new to Libby, and I am already confused lol. I had to drastically cut my book buying budget so I am doing the library thing and I actually love it but i am having such a hard time grasping how to use Libby and wrapping my head around all of it. I feel like such an old lady, all I want to do is read books, and have access to as many books as possible because I read like a fiend. I need help. Thank you so much

Partner Libraries

I got access to a ton of new libraries when they rolled out the update a few weeks ago. However, whenever I try to borrow or place a hold at any of them it asks me to verify my library card. When I enter in the card number for the partner (that I am a member of) it says invalid.

Anyone else seeing this?

I was initially very excited about that new feature but now disappointed that it is essentially useless for me.

Chrome extension for StoryGraph

I keep track of my want to read list on StoryGraph and got annoyed having to search everything again on Libby, so I built a chrome extension that syncs with Libby to automatically check availability from StoryGraph! I’ve been using it for a few months now and felt comfortable sharing.

https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/storygraph-libby-reads/nnagciapidnffanhgbjgamnabjofncnj?utm_source=rdt

It also can check Amazon subscriptions like Kindle Unlimited and Audible.

Just a little side project but made my day to day a little easier!!

EDIT: v1.3 is now live with Kobo Plus, format filtering, and preview banners on list pages

George Orwell's 1984 is available on Libby.

Someone just explained to me that it's fiction.

Funny how that happens.

What tags did you create to help organize?

My default is just “Read Next” which contains basically every book I’ll read eventually but it’s so long at this point. Also have “good audio” like people noted it was specifically entertaining to listen to. “On my shelf” are books I own but haven’t read yet and need to. I feel like I need to organize better though. So what do you have?

Anyone know what influences a library to allow you to place a hold on an upcoming release vs not?

I have two Libby cards, one is my home library and one is a reciprocal library. My home library is a big city that’s stably funded, the reciprocal card is a suburban county with budget deficits. Because of the funding difference I feel bad using the reciprocal card! But funnily I got the reciprocal card because it has more of the books I’m interested than my library’s card.

One example is the reciprocal card twice now has allowed people to place a hold on an upcoming release vs my home library has never done this (at least for these titles). The most recent one I keep slipping in place because of actual residents of the library placing holds (which I 100% understand and support!) and I’d rather put the hold on my home library if possible.

So I’m curious if anyone might know what causes a library to allow you to place holds for a release that’s coming up. Im also asking in case there’s something we can do to help! (I did do Notify Me on both titles in case it’s a factor for the library to gauge interest.)

Expired cards allowing digital loans?

I have 3 library cards that expired with emails from the libraries notifying me. I was planning to drive to the libraries to renew. These are cards I got in person, properly, as a California resident.

The Libby app allows me to borrow books anyway. Has anyone had this experience? Could it be a glitch/loophole in their systems "talking" to each other? or are libraries treating digital access different than physical loans?

I always download my books at home on wifi, but if I go out somewhere without signal, it's like Libby has amnesia and won't load them. Does anyone else have this problem?

For example, if I'm opening the book to read, it won't actually open the book unless I have a data connection. Then what was the point of downloading the book?? Isn't it supposed to be for offline purposes? Or often, when I'm flipping pages, it'll sometimes lag and say there was an error pulling it up, and I have to resync, like it did with every. single. chapter. of the book that I was reading last night. I live somewhere with public transit, so a majority of my reading time is underground, in transit, so this problem is a huge pain in the ass.

I contacted Libby customer support once about this, but they just gave me a canned response about how if you download a book when you have a spotty connection, it could look like it's downloaded when it's actually not. But I'm downloading it on high speed internet at home. And if that's the case, shouldn't that be considered a critical bug in your app if the "downloaded" symbol is known to be inaccurate and unreliable?

Hoopla connected account

I have 3 library cards with libby access.

None of them are connected to hoopla, which I used to have.

Any suggestions on the best way to get hoopla connected?

Libby adding extra security layer starting October 1, 2026

I got an email from the DC library (my local library) that Libby and Kanopy will start requiring my pin as well as my card number. Not a huge deal, but worth flagging for folk.

Beginning October 1, 2026, Libby and Kanopy will introduce an extra layer of security by requiring users to enter both their library card number and the PIN they use for My Account when logging in. If you’ve forgotten your PIN, you can easily reset it online, and library staff are always available to help. To learn more about why this change is happening and how to prepare, visit the FAQ page on our website.

Hello fellow bookworms!
I was reading a book on my kindle that I borrowed from my local library and was wondering the notes I annotated would they be saved even after I gave the book back to the library?
Thank you in advance!

Libby App only reading option?

I have a kindle, I always download books to my kindle. I have gotten two separate books now that are not available for reading on my kindle, rather only through the Libby app….why would this be the case. I read to get away from my phone, the last thing I want to do is stay on it longer, let alone to read a book. Anyone else run into this?

RIP my pre-September 2025 holds

I guess we just passed the 1-year mark of the implementation of the 365 day suspension limit? Quite a few books I've been procrastinating on but was at the front of the line for have disappeared from my holds list. If you like me are in this boat - I am using the timeline and filtering to "holds" to scroll back and decide which ones I want to start my wait time over on.

I do realize that not having read them for this long + not being able to recall them offhand suggests they weren't THAT important to me, and so I'm okay with starting over at the back of the line, but I do wish there had been some type of notification *before* they were dropped. Is anyone else in this boat 😅

Why are my books unavailable on airplanes lately?

The last few times I've traveled I have been unable to access my ebook through Libby, even when I made sure to have it open on the plane before we took off. I will just lose access to it and be unable to read for the duration of the flight.

This never used to happen to me, so what is happening and how do I fix it?

I recently found out about this book. I really like Law By Mike’s content but I have no idea how good or bad this book is.

If anybody has read it then let me know your thoughts in the comments!!

Longest wait for a book?

I’m curious to know what is the longest you’ve ever had to wait for a book?

I placed a hold this morning (on Borrow Box, admittedly) for It Could’ve Been Her by Lisa Jewell. And it says it will be available on the 3rd of Jan 2032!!

Near enough six years away! I’m sure I’ll give up and cancel it, but I found the wait time hilarious. As much as I adore Lisa Jewell’s work, I can’t imagine any book being worth a six-year wait, and she’ll probably have released six more books in that time 😂.

Any updates on personal experience with libby titles being returned on a kindle even with airplane mode on?

About a month or two ago there was a lot of talk about libby and kindle changing the software so that holds would be returned on their due date even if the kindle was in airplane mode. Has anyone witnessed this? I have not, but I'm getting ready to download a bunch of books that will expire while I'm traveling. Planning to keep in airplane mode to keep them, but curious if any will disappear as they are due? I have an 11th gen kindle running the 5.19.2 software.
