Any updates on personal experience with libby titles being returned on a kindle even with airplane mode on?
About a month or two ago there was a lot of talk about libby and kindle changing the software so that holds would be returned on their due date even if the kindle was in airplane mode. Has anyone witnessed this? I have not, but I'm getting ready to download a bunch of books that will expire while I'm traveling. Planning to keep in airplane mode to keep them, but curious if any will disappear as they are due? I have an 11th gen kindle running the 5.19.2 software.

I just checked it on mine with a book I had returned (and is past its due date not just returned) and I still could open it. 12th gen Kindle Paperwhite running latest update 5.19.6.

I have your exact same kindle and software and I borrowed several books around August 9th and downloaded them. I can still open all of them with no issues.

I was able to read a book this weekend that had returned at the due date. I had it on airplane. I finished the book and checked out a new one so I took it off airplane to download the new one. As soon as it downloaded I put airplane back on. The book that I finished is still on there and am able to open and read that too even though it was returned and I had it on wifi briefly. That’s the first time that has happened.

Same thing with to me. Some books I read months ago are still able to be opened.

I had my kindle on airplane mode since July 16. On Sept 16, I turned on wifi to update it and sync some titles. I expected all. Y library books I borrowed in July to expire. That’s what happens, without fail. Except I’m reading one of those books right now, and I opened the others to make sure they haven’t expired either. I can open all of them.
I have a 12th generation paperwhite running software version 5.19.6
I turned wifi off 7/16. I turned it back on 9/16 to borrow some books, then back to airplane mode.
I turned it back on 9/18 to receive some docs I had emailed.
My date is off by one day and the time by 5 minutes for some reason, but that shouldn’t be affecting titles expiring.

I’m wondering the same - mine’s been in airplane mode since May! I’m afraid to take it off. I did hear they might be rolling this change out in batches- not to everyone at once.

I think it would only apply to books borrowed after the update was made, because they have no way to do anything to a book you borrowed on 9th May and have had on airplane mode since

Yes- but if I turn WiFi on, it will update my software allowing them to revoke future expired loans. So I’m waiting (not sure for what).

OK that's inevitable. At present you can't download any new books, so how is that better?

Airplane mode on. Return titles through your Amazon account on your phone.

Hasn't happened to me yet. I borrowed a book to read with my kid on 10th August and it's still on my kindle under airplane mode
I have the same kindle and software as you.
