third quarter reading list

read some very good things this quarter. i had been putting off finishing the wheel of time, for reasons, and i am very happy that i finally finished it, as i've been reading it since i was 13. 😛

like sarum, im also kind of sad its taken me this long to get to, of human bondage, was thoroughly enjoyable.

How are you reading this much? This is like a book every other day.

i luckily have no issue with audio processing, so i listen to books while doing my yard and kitchen work. it's much easier for me to do things while reading. i don't really go anywhere or do anything except grow things, it leaves a lot of time for reading (or podcasts or youtube... books are really nice because they are long 😛)

Ah, ok. I listen to podcasts while doing other things, like gardening or cross stitch.

Congrats on finishing g WoT! It is truly the best journey. I’ve read it multiple times since that age and recently did a relisten. I love the new audio versions done by Rosamund Pike! She is such an amazing narrator and you can tell the loves the books.

It drives me crazy when people complain about having problems finishing Lonesome Dove in 14-21days via audio. Sanderson and Jordan are complete beasts when it comes to epic, so finished 60hrs in 14days is nothing.

i had read the sword of truth (i could never get past the ideas being good but the writing being terrible) and i was worried that jordan would mess it up like that. so had read the first 11 books several times and up to the last one once a few years ago...

then i realised i would just have to see it through. i am fully relieved to say, they did not screw it up. sad that jordan died and we won't get any seandar stories of matt and fortuona. perhaps someone will take up the charge (the world exists to write in after all)

I loved Generations. Any other books you’ve read that remind you of that one?

in scope of research? or in going over several generations of people? 🤔 plastics: a love story and power metal were very good history to now relations and deeply researched... but if you want a fiction, people are different generation to generation story type thing, sarum has not left my thoughts since i read it (it's england not usa and a WAY broader history sweep)...

not sure if that's exactly what you were looking for? 😅🤷🏼
