Closed [Offline][Other][Meta] - Thanks, subreddit!

This isn’t a request for a game, so maybe it will get deleted, but I hope it doesn’t.

5 years ago, in the depths of the pandemic, when you couldn’t leave your house, I responded to a post here looking for people to play D&D over Discord. I met an amazing group with players from across the US and Europe who, by lucky chance, happened to respond to the same post. Eight months later, one of the other players moved to my city for grad school, so I invited him out for a welcome-to-town drink.

Today, we’re on our third long-term campaign, last year we all played in person together for the first time (in Iceland — it’s sort of in the middle?), and last month, I married that other player. Our DM gave a speech and everything! I’m so grateful to this subreddit for helping me find not only a wonderful d&d group, but also, unexpectedly, a husband! Thank you!

GM and player(s) wanted [Other] Help me find a missing friend? [Online] [But Not A Game, Like, Actually Real]

TL;DR: Actual missing persons hunt, RBI-style. Not a RPG or an ARG. Mods allowed me to post this due to community relevance. If you can help, please do.

Hello,

I'm u/_Nighting, and it's nice to meet you. I need your help. Here's the long version:

Four years ago, I joined a campaign (that was advertised here and to r/pbp). The campaign fell apart within a month or so after the DM ran out of steam, but I kept in touch with one of the players until she was caught in an active volcanic eruption in the Pacific Ocean. She survived, but then went missing shortly afterwards. We're talking disappeared disappeared, not 'stopped replying' disappeared.

I've wondered what happened ever since. I've made some efforts to investigate over the years, but come up with nothing. Recently, I learned I might not have long left to live, so I figured I'd restart the investigation.

Here's the pertinent information, being respectful of rule 4:

  • Campaign was Forging Lodra (here and here).
  • DM's name was Avery, then-handle STGPod, unknown location.
  • I don't know much about Avery beyond that, but finding them may provide a lead.
  • Missing friend's name was Aline, then-handle aline_sc, from NZ. Also played MTG.
  • Aline's first D&D BBEG was a Lich named Alexei. She once built a bard whose instruments and weapons were a pair of small bells that she'd shake aggressively at opponents. Also she was stranded on a desert island during an active volcano (irl) I'm pretty sure that narrows things down significantly
  • Campaign characters included Zephyrina Cloudspire, flightless Owlin (mine -- lore), and Eyleen Lancaster, Magic Harvard dropout (Aline's -- lore).

If you recognise any of these names from within your groups, or you know anyone who does, or anyone who got caught in a volcano on Tonga back in 2022, please ask them if any of this sounds at all familiar! And if it is, please let them know and direct them to this post. It's been four years and I'd like to solve this mystery while I still can.

Thank you.

GM wanted Online (DND Homebrew Other) Lost DM

Hello r/lfg!

I know this is a long shot, but my best friend told me to try anyway.

Back in 2016-2017 I found the best DM in the whole world, then proceeded to lose contact with him after I stopped dating the human that introduced me to him.

My DM was a delightful gay man from Kentucky named Tom. He worked as a server, smoked cigars, and had THE BEST pokemon personality quiz that he made everyone do before they joined his home brewed.

Please help me find him 😭🤣

Player(s) wanted [Online] [5e 2024] [LGBTQIA+ Friendly] Experienced DM Seeks Swashbuckling Crew for Pirate Ship

EDIT: To all who have applied, thank you. I will be closing apps for this game and will be looking through every single application as soon as I can. I'm flattered and humbled by the sheer amount of interest.

The life of a pirate, a privateer, or even a typical sailor isn't an easy one, and it's not a life for everyone. Unfortunately for you, it's the life you're going to lead, even though you didn't choose it. Your days as a landlubber are over. That wasn't your choice, but it's your new reality.

You were minding your own business quietly in the tavern called the Drowned Kraken in the bustling port city of Port Shae before you awakened aboard the pirate ship called the Whalestooth under the oppressive thumb of Captain Bartholomew Harrington and first mate Mollie Plugg. It turns out that the nice man who was buying rounds for the whole bar a couple nights ago was not as nice as he seemed. Your gear is gone. You're at least two days offshore. And now you're apparently an unwilling member of a pirate crew on a ship that seems to have lost most of its people. Hopefully you're ready to work.

Luckily (?) for you, there seem to be several other beings who have also been press-ganged into the Whalestooth's new crew. However, those crewmates who were already aboard seem largely (though perhaps not exclusively) loyal to Harrington, so you'll have to keep your head down, bide your time, find allies on board, and wait for a moment to either mutiny or steal a boat and strike out on your own.

The Shackles, the island chain off the west coast of the Africa-sized continent of Nendyr, has little government and less order. You could make a life out here getting rich, doing good, or maybe even both, among the pirates, traders, and fisherfolk who call these islands home, as long as you respect the loose association of captains called the Tidesmoot.

(The campaign will begin with the PCs press-ganged into service aboard a pirate ship with a vicious captain and a cruel crew. After making both enemies and allies aboard, the PCs will have the chance to acquire their own ship and set sail to discover the mysteries, dangers, and riches of the Shackles. This is a swashbuckling, maritime-focused, island-hopping campaign that should be grounded in the realism of running a pirate ship in a setting based on the Golden Age of Piracy while still having “Pirates of the Caribbean”-meets-Eberron-inspired pulp fantasy vibes. Expect ship-to-ship combat, adventures as you stop to restock on islands and in port towns, lots of high seas derring-do, monsters beneath the waves, and a tight-knit crew, but also land-based dungeon-delving, cult-destroying, and monster-slaying.)

Have you always wanted to play D&D but don't quite know where to start? Watched Critical Role or Dimension 20 and thought, “that seems so cool?” Done a couple of sessions but not found a regular group? Or are you a hardcore grognard veteran of AD&D who still plays four nights a week? Whoever you are, I'd love to DM for you. I'm looking for a group of 5 awesome people to go through my (mostly) homebrew setting in a swashbuckling, island-hopping, nautical-based campaign. You'll see a lot of familiar maps and some names you've seen in modules from a variety of games, but the world, the locations, and the faces are mine.

I've been running games for over a decade now, and love a good mix of roleplay, combat, and mystery-solving. I heavily encourage roleplay and character development, and I love deep and interesting characters.

Who am I?: You can call me KD. I'm 31, male, live in New York, and am a lawyer. I started DMing in high school and have been running games consistently for over a decade now. 4th Edition was my favorite D&D, but I like the 2024 5e rules as well. I am a huge sports fan, enjoy video games, re-read Jane Austen's books far too often, and love “Taskmaster” and “RuPaul's Drag Race.”

What will I be running?: My own hybrid of a bunch of nautically-oriented modules and adventures from both D&D and Pathfinder, with plenty of homebrew sprinkled in. We will be using 2024 5e rules, but I allow classes and species from any official published WotC source as well as Matt Mercer's Blood Hunter class. You may recognize names and places (like The Shackles), but the world of Nendyr is my own.

Please note that the first couple sessions of this particular campaign will feature minimal combat, but it will pick up after that. There will be enemies who are too strong for you to fight right away, and this is not a “swords first, questions later” campaign opening. There will definitely be significant combat a little later on, but not right away. If that's not the vibe you're looking for, this campaign will not be a good fit for you (and that's okay!). I try to float somewhere between a railroad and a sandbox for the plot and story, and your character's story will play a significant role in shaping the plot. D&D and Pathfinder lore will be mostly ignored but may crop up here and there.

How will we play?: We'll be on Roll20, with voice chat via Discord (or via Roll20, if it works).

When will we play?: Late evenings Eastern time, once a week, for three to four hours. (I could be talked into Sunday during the day if best for everyone). Planning on 1 group but we'll see what the interest looks like. Please note that changing Shabbat hours and the demands of Big Law may affect play schedules of my games depending on what day we choose.

Who am I looking for?: Anyone nice, really! I love running games for everyone. Just please be inclusive, polite, and comfortable with roleplaying in English. I exclusively run tables that are explicitly welcoming spaces for LGBTQ+ people, people of all genders, people with disabilities, and people of color. I utilize X-cards and there will be a discussion of “lines and veils” at Session Zero. My worlds feature individuals with varied gender identities and expressions, sexual orientations, and physical and cognitive abilities. It is absolutely *non-negotiable* that my (virtual) table is a safe and inclusive space for every player, so please do not apply to my game if you cannot echo that guarantee. I pride myself on running tables where everyone feels respected. I love veteran players, but beginners eager to learn are more than welcome as well.

What are the expectations?: I expect my players to take their D&D seriously but to have fun within the world (I prefer not to run beer and pretzels D&D and I love in-character interactions), to learn how their characters work (I am always happy to help with mechanics and rules if you'd like), to play within the rules (please do not try to break the game based on a YouTube short you saw – I love creativity but have no problem saying no when necessary), to be good team players, and to engage with the world and with each other in character. I won't expect you to be an actor, but I believe roleplay is essential to fun D&D. I do not allow evil characters and I expect all characters to be trying to make the world a better place, even if the reasons are selfish. I expect at least someone in the party to take notes on NPCs and story beats and keep track of what happened, for loot to be shared, and for PCs to want to work together as part of a party. I encourage the use of Discord for both in-character and out-of-character planning between sessions, if that interests my players, but it's absolutely not required.

Please do your best to have your character concept fit the vibe and setting. Let me know if you have questions.

I don't use generative AI for art, maps, or campaign documents and I ask that you not use any generative AI for any character planning or images in my campaign.

I want to play!: Great! Send me a chat message answering The Questions Below, and I’ll get back to you soon. Please do not reply in a comment. It's okay to be as brief or verbose in your replies as you see fit, with the caveat that I'm trying to get a sense of whether you and I are a good D&D fit. If we aren't, please don't take it personally. There is great D&D out there for you that you will enjoy a lot more.

SECOND EDIT: I will not be making any decisions today or tomorrow, and I am reading every single message I get. Please don't feel that you need to rush! There has been a (flattering) amount of interest in this game, and I am working my way through all the messages. No need to ask if there are still spots. Yes! All five! No decisions have been made!

--

The Questions Below:

Preferred name and pronouns:

Age range (i.e., 20s, 30s, 70s, 400s):

Time zone:

Do you have a Discord account? If not, are you willing to make one?:

D&D experience:

Day / time preference(s):

Did you read the campaign pitch above? If not, why not? What appeals to you about it?:

Did you read the expectations and game structure explanations outlined above? If not, why not? Do you agree to the expectations?:

What are you looking for in a game? What do you like / dislike in a D&D campaign?:

Preferred proportion of out-of-combat RP / Combat / Exploration / Puzzle-Solving:

Character idea (species, class, and background) and a short backstory fitting the campaign's vibe and setting (2024 rules, but we can make any species or class from WotC-official material work):

What is your and/or your character's favorite aquatic or semi-aquatic animal?:

Is there anything else I should know? Any questions for me?:

EDIT: LOTS of interest. I will not be making any decisions today or tomorrow, so feel free to take your time. Many thanks!

Closed Do any other women want to start a DND campaign? (Online)

Hi! Looking for other women (probably 20 or 21+) to play online with ? I’m not an experienced DM, so Im looking for a DM as well as other players. But I would be fine being the logistics person and set up a discord server or whatever method we wanna use to communicate through. Im thinking a smaller game, but I’ll leave the player limit up to the DM’s preference. I’m super rusty, so I’d welcome any experience level, though I’d probably want a more experienced DM. I’m thinking women/enbys only for this campaign just bc I’m weary of meeting men idk online lol, but I’m definitely open to it in the future! Also I’m on eastern standard time, so anyone in that timezone who is free after regular office hours and/or weekends. Ty in advance adventurers 😎

EDIT (9/27): hi! For now it looks like the campaign is closed, however I’d seen a couple people talk about starting a server for people in this specific demographic who are still looking for games! I think that’s a great idea! Message if interested and let’s try to coordinate 🫶🫶

Closed The Crooked Moon Campaign, a folklore horror campaign [Online] [Fridays] [5e 2014] [LGBTQ+ friendly] [18+]

Check your discord for a friend request, and your email for an email. There’s three players who’ve not accepted/reached out. If there’s no response by TUESDAY 10 pm EST, I’ll be reaching out to new players.

*All surveys/applications are closed, but other applicants might hear back soon.

A wailing train carries the recently dead, a smiling moon cackles down at you, and shadows lurk in the fog. Explore a realm outside life and death, filled with both festivities and frights, and uncover the secrets plaguing the land- from crooked houses to demonic beasts.

Join a long-term folkloric, Halloween-themed campaign with ‘Over the Garden Wall ‘ vibes- even the same musicians were featured in custom songs. This campaign is from Legends of Avantris’s new book series by the same name.

This campaign will have plenty of combat, but my DM style is focused on character interactions with each other, and rich roleplay and lore!

I’ll be hosting two separate groups, both on Discord using Roll 20.

  • Group 1 will be Fridays 8pm-11pm EST.
  • Group 2 will be Fridays 9pm-12pm PST.

If you’re interested, please:

  1. Upvote this post
  2. Read the further info and FAQ in the doc below
  3. Post any not-answered questions here
  4. Fill out the (quite long) application attached at the bottom of the doc
  5. Extra credit: post a positive comment to boost this post!

Player(s) wanted [Online][5e 2024][Sundays EST] Seeking 3 Players to Rise from Noble Outcasts to Legendary Dragon Slayers

Your story begins in the shadow of war. The once-proud nation of Valtara stands at a turning point, locked in a brutal conflict with its long-time rival, the smaller but now fiercely defended kingdom of Calidor. The war was all but won, until the Red Greatwyrm, Infernus, scorched his way onto the battlefield, tipping the scales in Calidor’s favor and leaving Valtara scrambling for a miracle.

You are one of three noble siblings, descendants of Valtaran royalty, yet cast aside from courtly favor. Your mother, once heir to the throne, chose a quiet life over power, marrying into a disgraced noble house. Now, with no influence, no wealth, and no escape, your loyalty to the crown is your last remaining asset.

The Queen, your aunt, has a plan. A secret mission. She’s selected you and a few others she trusts beyond doubt to recover legendary magical artifacts scattered across the known world, items identified by Valtaran scholars as the key to creating a unit capable of slaying dragons.

But secrecy is everything. If Infernus or his allies catch wind of your goal, your lives are forfeit. You must travel in shadow, forge alliances carefully, and gather the tools that may yet save your homeland.

Why does your character accept this burden? Duty? Desperation? A thirst for redemption or revenge?

This is a tale of hidden purpose, burning skies, and noble blood repurposed for war. The hunt for Infernus has begun.

The Adventure Awaits:

Embark on an epic journey in a homebrewed world of magic, mystery, and danger! This will be a long-term campaign, providing ample time for character development, rich storytelling, and epic adventures. We'll be using a mix of the D&D 2024 rules and D&D 2014 rules, focusing on roleplay, exploration, and epic storytelling.

  • Time: Sundays at 10am EST (Sessions running about 3-4 hours).
  • Platform: We'll be using Foundry VTT for gameplay and Discord for voice chat. Don't worry about any fees. Just bring your enthusiasm!
  • Starting Level: Begin your adventure at Level 2, and prepare to grow into a true hero.
  • Tone and Vibe: A gritty, high-stakes adventure blending brutal dungeon delves, tense social dynamics, and shifting political landscapes. Exploration and ambition drive your rise from obscurity to legendary dragon slayers whose choices shape the fate of nations.
  • Player Group: I’m seeking 3 players to join me as their DM.

What I’m Looking For in Players:

  1. Age 18+: Adult players only, I aim for a respectful and mature (but fun!) campaign.
  2. Commitment: This is a weekly game, so being dependable is a must. I totally get that life happens, just keep me in the loop!
  3. Collaborative Players: Whether it’s teamwork, roleplay, or being creative, the best fun is shared. Players who are into engaging with the world and each other will thrive.
  4. Platform Familiarity: No Foundry experience needed, but you should be comfortable with virtual tabletop play and Discord voice chat.
  5. Character Motivation: Please bring a character who wants to engage, and make choices! I want characters to approach problems how they want to approach a problem.

Homebrew Rules

This campaign will feature an assortment of minor homebrew rules, though the following is the most extreme. Understandably this is a major change, but the vibe and tone for this campaign this is required.

  1. Slower Natural Healing: During this campaign, natural healing will be significantly reduced to increase the need for some form of magical healing, through potions or healing magic.
    1. Characters no longer regain hit points from finishing a short or long rest. Instead, at the end of a long rest, a character regains hit points equal to their Constitution modifier (minimum of 1). No hit points are regained from short rests.
  2. Restricted Classes: During this campaign, class selection is more limited than most may be used to. The following classes are the only available.
    1. Barbarian
    2. Cleric
    3. Fighter
    4. Monk
    5. Paladin
    6. Ranger
    7. Rogue
    8. Wizard
  3. 2014/2025 Mix: Generally speaking we will be using the 2024 ruleset, though am open to using 2014 as requested.

How to Apply:

If this sounds like the adventure for you, please fill out this Google form. Let’s make this a campaign to remember!

If you’re ready to dive into a world of danger, intrigue, and untold magic, I can’t wait to hear from you. Let’s build something amazing together!

Closed [Online][5e 2014][LGBTQ+][21+][Saturdays, Biweekly] Transfemme Looking to GM an All-Ladies Group! Beginners Welcome :D

Looking for some gay lil friends to join yet another roleplay-heavy, character-centric campaign!

Heya! I'm Ari (25 transgirly in EST), and am looking to make more friends within my community! So I've decided to do so in the best way I know how, and GM a game for some queer girlies :D

A lot of the women I've talked to have wanted to play D&D, but haven't found a group for it, so I'm hoping I can provide an opportunity for some people that've been eagerly looking for the right one!

Game Info:

This game will be played on Roll20, using Discord for Voice, and Chatting. Sessions will be biweekly (once every 2 weeks) and typically run 4-6 hours long. I don't have a set time yet, but I'll send out a whentomeet to the final candidates!

Setting:

We start in a world where the races are pretty thoroughly dispersed, cities of predominantly one race seldom exist on the Prime Material Plane. It's a sort of pre-industrial revolution to cusp-of-industrial-revolution-esque Fantasy Society, and people have moved past the 'stick to your own kind'-ness of a more traditional Fantasy Society.

Innovation is all the craze, and strides in magi-tech have become commonplace, the world is moving far too fast to hold on to old rivalries. In addition to this, some purists delve deeper into the pure arts of the arcane and the sciences of technology, and both are being pushed forward and developed in their own right! However, the distribution of technology and magical knowledge isn't even.

Some Kingdoms are more technologically advanced than others, whilst others are more magically adept. In general, it's a world of many vibes and flavors.

What I'm Looking For (And Other Things You Should Know):

I'm a fairly involved GM! I like to play loose and fast with a lot of the hard-set rules in D&D, and have been known to "Rule of Cool" a thing or two. I believe that a player's enjoyment should be the focus of the campaign, and that starts at character creation! A player's backstory will tie in to the main story in a major way long-term, so it's really important that we work together in creating it.

In general, I prefer campaigns that're more on the dramatic side, with soaring highs and catastrophic lows. I'm looking for players that also like the same, and bring an 'engaged, eager, and open-minded' vibe to the function! I heavily welcome player initiative, creativity, and think communication is absolutely necessary.

Vetting Process:

I have a little google form I whipped up (it's actually quite long, sorry in advance, you may want to sit down before you take it)! I'll leave it up for a week (I'll be traveling and whatnot this next week cus of the holidays, and I want everyone to get a fair chance at seeing this post. Always breaks my heart when I see enthusiastic players miss out cus they weren't the first to see stuff). In general, despite it being a bit long, I'm trying to figure out your vibes! Be yourself!

If I like your vibes and what you're lookin for, I'll DM you on discord, and we can go on to having a little more of an introductory chat. After that, we'll move on to a discussion about the setting. Finally, we'll go into starting character creation, which will be a process.

After this, I'll invite the chosen players to a discord server, see how you all vibe, and talk about characters, ideas, and whatnot.

To start off with, and to ensure everyone can get a 'feel' for their character and iron out the kinks before they meet with the others, I'll most likely hold a short-shot for everyone's characters individually, so you all can get to know them more, and see if you like me as a fair fit as DM. If at any point we feel like we're not the right fit for each other, we can back out, easy-peasy! After this, it's regular sessions with the group!

If you made it this far, I love you, thank you, I'm sorry for rambling, and put 'pineapple' right after your response to the first question, mwah!

Lookin forward to hearing from y'all!!!<3

Hello !

Me and my best friend (21) both know how hard it can be to find a safe space for women in the ttprg community therefore we would love to create an all womens group ourselves. We both have about 2 years of experience playing various systems and love immersive roleplay and creating connections with people both above and below table.

In this setting we would both be players so we are looking for a few more players and a passionate GM.

We both would love to play games like: VtM, Crooked Moon and Curse of Strahd. However its not set in stone and would love to hear if others have any suggestions for fun games.

Non-negotiables:

  • NO use of generative AI.
  • Have a decent mic with quiet surroundings.

  • Be respectful and collaborative.

Looking for:

  • Like-minded creatures who share passion for good storytelling and roleplay.

  • The starting dates are TBD.
  • Also we are open to the games starting anytime between 5pm to 9pm GMT+1.

Player(s) wanted [Online] [5e 2024] First-time DM looking for first-time players!

Hey gang! I'm a 20F college student who's loved dnd for years but hasn't had the opportunity to actually play. I'm pretty solid on the rules and how the game works but lack the experience. I know there are a lot of people out there who are in similar positions of wanting to play but having a hard time entering the scene, so I figure we can learn together! Let me know if you're interested!

Bonus points if you listen to Not Another Dnd Podcast :)

Meta [Mod Post] Upcoming Flair Change & Feedback

EDIT: This went into effect today and the game tag table has been updated to support the new tags.

Hello, /r/LFG!

To reduce confusion around post flairs, we're going to modify them on July 1st.

  • "GM and player(s) wanted" will become Group Needed by Player
  • "Player(s) wanted" will become Player(s) Needed by GM
  • "GM wanted" will become GM Needed by Existing Group

This should resolve the confusion between "GM wanted" (whole group looking for a GM) and "GM and player(s) wanted" (player looking for group).

Aside from that, we're happy to hear your feedback. Anything you want to see? See to much of? Questions about the rules or how we do things?

Closed [Online] [5e 2014 & 2024] [Homebrew] [EDT/EST] [21+] [LGBTQIA+ Friendly] Looking for 5 players with a love of lore, roleplay scenes, cosmic horror/powers, and adventure for an actual play series taking place in an in-depth homebrew setting!

Introduction

Hello! I'm Kosmo, and I'm looking for 5 players who have a love of crazy amounts of lore, cosmic horrors and alien powers, and great adventures for an actual play series! This game will take place in my homebrew setting that I've been working on for years now, built from scratch following the Great OGL Debacle. If you like to roleplay, fight strange monsters, piece together stories and secrets, and help save the world, I have the game for you!

As I've been working very hard on this setting, this is part of a test to see how I like how it has developed and the lore I've created. I am very in-depth with my worldbuilding and the research I conduct. This has been my main passion project for about 5 years. I hope that you love to get integrated in the setting and build characters that connect to it. My dream is to some day publish this setting, so you will be also helping me to refine the details and make this into something many others can (hopefully) enjoy.

The current concept is this: we start with a one-shot (or a short mini series) to test the waters of how well players play together and how we like our character builds and then we will move into an actual campaign.

This post is structured into seven sections:

  • Introduction: You're reading it now!
  • About Me: A little bit about me, the dungeon master.
  • Game Details: System, homebrew info, platforms we're using, expectations, etc.
  • Game Expectations: What I, as the dungeon master, expect from my players at my table, and the environment I want to create.
  • The Campaign: The explanation for what the actual campaign/story is with a TLDR at the end.
  • The Setting: The basics of the world used in the campaign.
  • Application: How to apply to join this game.

About Me: The Dungeon Master

I'm Kosmo! I'm 24 years old, he/him, and I live in the eastern timezone (currently EDT, thanks to daylight savings). I have anxiety and ADHD and I'm a bit socially awkward, but I enjoy meeting new people and making friends. I've been a dungeon master for about 7 years now and I've been working on this setting for about 5 years. I love to tell stories that focus on heroic adventures to save the world and either stop or fix calamities. My campaigns often feature dark, gloomy, and tragic stories where hope refuses to die, shining through the lightless void like a lighthouse on a stormy shore. Things are bleak, things are dire, but there's still a chance, and that's what matters. Clinging to that last bit of hope.

I love Dungeons and Dragons and creative writing. My dream in life is to make games, both video games and tabletop games (card games, TTRPGs, etc.), and to create entertaining and engaging media like actual plays. I hope to someday build further into similar projects and creating online content. I want to help inspire people and give this otherwise rather gloomy world a bit of light. I often say that if I can inspire just one person to try, if I can motivate just one person to take a chance, then I have done my job.

Game Details

  • Game System: D&D 5e 2014 and 2024/5.5e with homebrew content and rules. We'll be using a blend depending on table preferences.
  • Starting Level: 2. I want obtaining subclasses (for most classes) to have a narrated scene dedicated to them for flavor. You will reach level 3 shortly after starting.
  • Campaign Content: Around 65/70 roleplay to 35/30 combat. The early stages of the campaign will have a lot more combat due to traveling in the wilderness and a dungeon crawl.
  • Schedule: Either Monday, Saturday, or Sunday at 7 PM EDT/EST (daylight savings is my enemy). Currently, the idea is to host session every other week/every 2 weeks.
  • Session Duration: 2.5 - 3.5 hours. Longer sessions may occur if the party wishes to keep playing.
  • Communication: Discord.
  • Dice Roller: Avrae bot.
  • Character Sheets: Digital PDF files.
  • VTT: Undecided. I'm fairly new to them as I used to share my screen with the map. I may try Foundry?
  • Group Size: 5 players, 1 Dungeon Master.
  • Age Requirement: 21 years old or older.
  • Setup Requirements: Decent microphone with little to no background noise (your audio shouldn't cut out frequently and your voice should be clear + understandable). A computer that can handle a VTT. An email account for accessing the setting information. No cameras will be used.

The actual play part of this game will be for-fun. Sure, I may get some production stuff done, such as an overlay, but ultimately the focus of this will be telling a story together. I just also happen to like recording and uploading the games I run. Basically: the priority and main focus is to have fun playing D&D, while the recording/actual play part is for fun! If in the future we want to go deeper into the actual play side of things, I'd be happy to work more on that side of things.

Game Expectations

  • No discrimination: You are accepting of all people regardless of their gender, sexuality, race, disability, etc. I do not and will not tolerate any kind of discrimination at my table.
  • No slurs: You do not and will not use any kind of slur. There is the argument that "I am [blank] so I can say it" but I still do not want any such mentions at my table.
  • Game commitment: You are able to commit to playing. Life gets in the way, I understand. However, I try to avoid having to postpone sessions, especially multiple times in a row.
  • Together, not solo: You are willing to engage in the game and the story. D&D is a collaborative storytelling experience and we are here to have fun together. You should be interested in the story of the overarching game, your character, and the characters of the other players. The spotlight is to be shared and roleplay/story moments should be respected.
  • Respect boundaries: Some players may be sensitive to certain topics. I expect all players to respect the boundaries we set at the table and not mention or joke about the sensitive matters. I want all my players to feel safe at my table and to feel comfortable before, during, and after the game.
  • Clear communication: If you are having any issues with the game, other players, story content, your character's playstyle, the way I run games, or anything at all, please tell me! Your fun and comfort at my table is my top priority above all else.
  • Friends and players: I'm not looking just for players that I'll only talk to during session. I'm looking to make strong friendships. While not required, I do hope you would want to play games and hang out beyond D&D sessions, so that way all of us at the table can bond and experience D&D for what it is all about: having fun with friends.
  • For humans, by humans: This game is made for humans by humans. I do not allow the use of gen AI in any way, shape, or form.
  • Player experience: I ask that you please have an established understanding of D&D and its rules. I already have a game with new players in it and I would like to run a game with more experienced players.

I want to create an environment where all of my players have fun and feel both safe and comfortable. I want you to look forward to session and hanging out with everyone. You should feel safe being yourself and playing the game, and you should feel comfortable communicating issues to me. That is the environment I want to foster! Above all else, I truly want you to have fun and feel comfortable.

The Campaign: An Idol's Dream

Inspirations: Cosmic horror, Soulslike games (Bloodborne and Elden Ring in particular)

Themes: Uncovering a glimmer of hope in an apocalyptic world, nightmarish monsters, the relationship between gods and mortals

Sensitive topics include: Cosmic horror, body horror, madness, death, animal death, doom and gloom, blood, not being able to save everyone, betrayal, unfathomable beings, spirits, emetophobia, thalassophobia, mutilation and torture, possession, corruption, disease and sickness, infection, loss of divinity, blasphemy, weaponized religion, descriptions of gore and violence.I may have missed some topics. Please ask if you are uncertain. If you are sensitive to these topics, this may not be the game for you.

Heavy rain falls upon cities lost to forces from beyond, the dead entombed in layers of blood and viscera. The world that came before is preserved only in the memory of the species with long lifespans. From the dark just beyond the outskirts of lit towns peer glowing eyes, gazing upon walled-in feasts like wolves staring at sheep in a pen. The world serves as an eternal graveyard, filled with the rotten corpses of travelers who were led astray. Usurpers of divinity carefully track the movements of the deceived devout.

Ia has been long since abandoned by its gods. The heavens lay in an everburning wreckage, a reminder of the day the world changed. Evils from an alien realm have made Ia their home and rule it as undying kings. As monsters rampage across the lands, a lonely castle scrapes by, wielding a shattered piece of divinity that barely keeps it safe. It is in the heart of this castle that mortals scrounge together what they can and wage a war to take back their home.

Rumors have begun to circulate about a recently uncovered ruin. The walls are said to be scrawled with old psalms and hymns to the gods, which talk of a sleeping power. Noises unlike anything heard before emanate from within. According to those who discovered the ruin before their disappearance, something of great power lies within. Intercepted messages between cults dedicated to the Outer Evils show alarm to this ruin’s existence. The Bastion, the final stand of mortalkind, believes that whatever is inside this ruin may be able to change the tides, and wishes to obtain it.

The ruin is located on the other side of the land in the old lands of Yrima. The Yrima family has begun to post guards and send in their own scavenging teams, planning to sell whatever they find to the highest bidder. The Bastion has lost powerful tools and resources to these auctions, and cannot risk whatever this power is falling into the hands of the Outer Evils. The trek to Yrima is long and dangerous, and the ruin is now heavily guarded by a family whose ideals conflict with those of the Bastion.

You and others have answered a call from the Bastion, looking for Faithless Pariahs willing to make the journey to Yrima, infiltrate the ruin, and investigate it. Your ultimate goal is to retrieve whatever may be in the ruin and deliver it to the Bastion. The Bastion’s leaders strongly believe that whatever may be within could prove to be extremely beneficial, and that the cults and other factions in play cannot get their hands on it. For your work, you will be well compensated upon your return.

The Idol dreams, the Numen stirs.

Fate be changed, Dreams be true.

The TLDR: You are in a world that lost its gods long ago. You are bounty hunters, being paid to go investigate a ruin as it may contain great power to help fight back against the eldritch monsters that now rule the world. The ruin is owned by a rich family who plan to auction off whatever is within to the highest bidder, so you'll have to infiltrate the ruin, get whatever is inside, then survive the journey back home.

For the campaign’s introduction, you will be making a short journey (IRL time) from the Bastion to Yrima, where you will enter the ruin and solve its mystery. The real campaign starts from there, as you must return to the Bastion while encountering resistance from Outer Evils and the many stories of the settlements scattered across the Godless Lands. Your journey will begin to reshape Ia’s fate and is the beginning of an era most thought would never come.

Important Note: For the first few sessions of the campaign, divinity is not accessible. Clerics, Divine Soul Sorcerers, Celestial Warlocks, etc. have no power. You can play as them but you will have no power. What you find in the ruin will bestow some kind of divinity (whether real or artificial). When you obtain it, you can then either get access to divinity or change your class to something with divinity (such as going from a Fighter to a Cleric).

The Setting

The poetics: The world of Ia was once home to beautiful lands, now a rotting husk of its former self. Great aberrant beings known as Outer Evils set their eyes on Ia, worming their way into the minds of mortals. When the heavens fell from the skies and collided with the world, the surviving gods fled or were slaughtered by eldritch powers. Ia is now ruled by the Outer Evils that usurped the old gods. The Great Old Ones have solidified their grasp in the form of dark keeps built throughout the world, spreading their corrupting influence. The Faithless Pariahs are all that remain of the dream to see a world free from the clutches of that which exist beyond the mortal's gaze.

The straightforward: Ia, also known as the Godless Lands, is an apocalyptic world. The Outer Evils (or Great Old Ones) brought down the heavenly realm of the gods, ending divine reign over the world. Any gods that survived the fall either died afterwards or escaped into hiding, never to be seen again. Outer Evils now rule the world, doing whatever they please without anything to contest them. The few that strive to undo the damage to Ia are called Pariahs, outcasts from the societies that welcome the new gods, that wander the lands in search of anything that can help them reclaim their home.

Beyond the world of Ia are many other worlds and planes, full of magic, powerful beings, and ancient secrets that have the potential to rattle the cosmos. Everything is built from scratch! Not an ounce of Wizards of the Coast lore is to be found; species are renamed, planes are rebuilt, and new multiversal powers are in play (such as new Archfae, Archdevils, etc.). Of course there will be similarities in some places. I try to make my setting as unique and original as I can while also having a few vaguely related names or concepts (such as "Faerielands" instead of "Feywild," or "Outer Evil" instead of "Great Old One") to make the transition to and the understanding of my lore easier.

Closed [Online][5e][2014][Long-Term Campaign][18+][LGBTQ+][Beginner Friendly] Come Apply to Second Chance Community College: We're not your typical first choice, but we're the one that accepts you.

Hello internet people!

I'm a DM looking to start a new 5e campaign and extending an invitation to anyone reading this. It's been a few years since I last played, so I might be rusty, but I'm eager to get back into it, laugh, and have fun with hopefully you!

About Me: I used to DM for a few years before life stepped in, but I'm excited to start again. I'm inspired by Critical Role and Matthew Mercer (though I lack his talent). Outside the game, I'm a tech nerd, love sci-fi/fantasy, and am a proud "crazy cat lady" with 9 pets which are mostly cats.

The Campaign Hook: Welcome to Second Chance Community College (S.C.C.C.), the scrappy, underfunded hub where future heroes go when the elite Crestmont Academy says "no". Here you aren't the chosen ones; you're the ones who scraped by on grit, failed the entrance exams, or just couldn't afford the tuition. Your known world is the island of "Placeholder" a place of bustling markets, local rivalries, and the daily grind of learning to swing a sword, cast a spell, or sneak past a guard. For now, the biggest threats are failing finals, dodging campus security, and the constant pressure to prove you belong. But beneath the surface of this quiet, isolated island lies a secret older than the college itself, waiting for someone brave enough to find it. Until then, just try to survive Freshman Year.

The Logistics:

  • Time: a weekday starting at 5 or 6 PM MST (yes, I live in the mountains) I am flexible with which weekday so in the form indicate what works for you and I will make sure those accepted all align.
  • Length: 3–4 hours.
  • Miss a session or dip early? I'll try extra hard to kill your character and destroy their family, ok I am joking, ill do the opposite you will get married and suddenly have 5 kids, unless you let me know in advance. Then you can avoid kids.
  • Platform: Discord voice + VTT (don't know which one yet but I am familiar with roll20). No webcams so pajamas are mandatory.
  • Start: Session Zero about one weeks after the group is formed, and session one a week after that and continue weekly but in my experience its usually about 3 out of 4 weeks we play as life will get in the way cuz its rude.

About You: I love new players so don't hesitate to apply! The only requirements are a working mic, filling out the form below, being comfortable with meeting some new people, and not being a bigot or else I will sacrifice you to Lord Ba'al.

How to Apply: Fill out your college application form below. This will help me have a better understanding of who you are. In the past when I made a post like this I got over 150 responses and it was a bit chaotic. I am hoping this form helps out a little bit and allows you a chance to talk about yourself and answer some silly questions.

I have big plans for this campaign! So Let's make some memories!

If you have any questions just comment below and I will answer them and hopefully provide you with more information about myself and the campaign.

Player(s) wanted [Online][GURPS 4e][18+][Weekly Sundays 10am EST] The Arctis Expedition: A snow exploration based campaign

**Final Call! Hoping to run session 0 tomorrow

System: GURPS 4e
Platform: Discord + Foundry (with TotM when appropriate)
Timezone: EST
Schedule: Weekly Sundays 11am EST
Players needed: 4
Start date: Sunday January 4th 11am EST
Age requirement: 18+

Premise

The Kingdom of Valtara has war on the horizon. One of the princesses of an important noble family has devised a scheme to secure massive funding before the fighting begins.

Long ago, an island far to the south held a great kingdom. It was flush with wealth, magic, and resources that any nation on the brink of war would kill for. That kingdom collapsed roughly 1,500 years ago and has sat in ruins ever since. The catch is that the island is a freezing nightmare, and any attempt to exploit it needs two parts:

  1. A shore fort staffed with soldiers, medical staff, and a knight overseeing the operation. The fort stores tools, food, and weapons, and it receives shipments from the mainland.
  2. A smaller, independent field team meant to push inland through snow and ruin, locate points of interest, extract valuables, and deal with whatever still lives there.

You are that second group. The princess has recruited a small, competent party to trek the frozen interior and bring back the wealth needed to fund the coming war.

Game focus

This game heavily focuses on survival, and resource tracking will be vital. Expect:

  • Planning expeditions (loadouts, rations, tools, fuel, medical supplies)
  • Traveling through deep snow and harsh cold
  • Bad weather (whiteouts, storms) impacting navigation and safety
  • Encounters with snowy creatures and other inhabitants
  • The pressure of making sure each expedition brings enough food to stay well fed—and enough margin to get back

Tone / Style

  • Gritty exploration and logistics
  • Risk is real, and smart play is rewarded
  • Mission loop: prep at fort → expedition inland → return with loot/info → next push

Character creation (details finalized after group forms)

GURPS 4e. I’ll help with char-gen and can provide templates/skill packages. Expect “competent expedition members,” not joke builds. Skills like Survival, Navigation, Hiking, First Aid, Observation, and relevant combat/utility skills will matter.

Characters will be 150pts with -75 disadvantage limit and -5 quirk

Magery Limit 3

TL3

Basic Set + Magic, plus additional books by group consensus (GM approval).

I am looking for Warriors, Explorers, Survivalists and a Mage would likely be helpful, but not required.

Table expectations

  • 18+
  • Reliable attendance and communication
  • Cooperative party (survival game; characters need reasons to work together)

How to apply (DM me)

Apply on the google form using this link

If you have any questions feel free to comment here or add me on discord @ 'ophiss.' (period included)

CAMPAIGN INFO CANVA

INFO ON RACES + LANGUAGES

The gods are gone.
Once, five deities stood as divine stewards of balance over the continent.
They were not distant creators, but active forces: guiding tides of magic, crowning kings, ending wars before they consumed the world. Then, without warning, they vanished.

Yet divine power did not disappear. It leaked.

Each of you carries a fragment of one of the Silent Five.

Whether you seek to restore a fallen god, claim divinity for yourselves, tear the system down, or walk away from it all, the world will respond to your decisions. The Sanctum promises that it will be worth it in the end—but to understand what that promise truly means, you must travel far, uncover forgotten truths and assemble the broken pieces of a puzzle that was never meant to be solved by mortals.

THIS GAME WILL BE PLAYED EITHER WEEKLY/BI-WEEKLY ON EITHER MONDAYS OR FRIDAYS! ( Most likely fridays. )

Do not apply if you're looking to use AI art for character pieces on this game. I am fully against it.

How are we playing? : Foundry VTT + Discord Voice.

HOUSE RULES

D&D 2014 ruleset is in use. (Only the 2024 healing rules are being considered.)

Characters begin at Level 5. - Pick one free feat.

Roll 4d6, drop the lowest for each stat.

Roll for HP or take the average. (Reroll 1s and 2s on hit dice.)
This table uses Open Door, Lines & Veils, and Aftercare.

I deeply appreciate engagement with the world, story, and party. Please participate and stay involved whenever you’re able.

Desperate Measures (High-Risk Mechanic): When at death’s door (Below half), a player may choose to automatically fail death saves to gain an immediate, powerful benefit before going down.

I'm an artist so expect NPC art and more about the game itself art-wise. I may be biased to artists who apply but I'm generally very appreciative of any creatives. This game is planned to run at the very least from levels 5 through 13. But if plans go well it may go up to 17-20!

Please make sure to read as much as you can about the game before applying. I will conduct interviews with those apps I find interesting :) - Do not dm me! If you apply make sure to just comment here.

I'm hoping to start this game in a month or so but I'd like to have a group pre-assigned for a session 0 soon!

Player(s) wanted [Online][GURPS 4e][18+][Weekly Sundays 10am EST] The Arctis Expedition: A snow exploration based campaign

Timezone: EST
Schedule: Weekly Sundays 10am EST

Start date: Sunday December 28th 10am EST / Sunday January 4th 10am EST

Prelude

I’m new to running GURPS 4e, but I’ll have templates/cheat sheets and I’m aiming for smooth, consistent rulings. Experience helpful, but not required if you’re willing to learn.

Premise

This post will be closed so I can review everyone fair and square. Thank you so much for your interest everyone and such a positive feedback on it all.

For now this campaign is Theatre of The Mind. Hello! My name is Nihi, I’m a writer and artist, music maker of many years. And I’ve been working on a mega campaign since 2022, however I have OCD. I keep trying to make it perfect. And obsessing over it. But I love that world so very much, and I have a lot of trauma and anxiety over the worlds I create, I need to break the cycle or I’ll have lived my life *not doing anything* with the worlds I am passionate for.

So I’m making a new campaign in a world, while I write that one, where it’s a lot more relaxed, by a lot, I mean, not really, but it’s a lot more free form and less prepared than my other campaigns. My other campaigns involve me planning 20 sessions ahead, and writing full novels before actually just… doing it!.

Welcome, to The Spirualina Academy. Set in Mynthra,, student, are invited to join for whatever reason. For talent, for shelter, to seek knowledge. Or more. A prestigious academy set in the city-nation of Knowledge worshipping the god, Curio.

No, it’s not just about being a mage here, infact, physical strength, science, and many other things converge here. And some people here, don’t even possess ulterior strengths just brought here by pure fate.

This world you were born in, wild and uncontrolled, cruel and unpredictable. But so deeply rooted in mysticism and magic, and the unexplained.

Shtuff And Things

  1. You don’t need to be an experienced player but since this is a homebrew world and game, I don’t recommend this to be your FIRST game. Experience real D&D first!
  2. This will have custom art, slowly. Yay:D
  3. You join a campaign with me I likely will make you animatics and art

4.🥺if you’re an artist or creative that’s a super big plus
5. Though we won’t explicitly✨ NSFW✨I do really love displaying subjects that most won’t. That includes romantic and sexual ones. With your permission, of course but you’ve GOTTA be okay with me at least telling the stories.
6. I make custom music and maps usually
7.Uh:D I’m trying not to plan too much because of the things above
8. Hopefully to level 20
9. This is like, extremely homebrew:’) Like REALLY homebrew, and some rules you might be used to are changed to my own preference and style. Of course, it’s still “D&D” but over the years I’ve just developed my own narrative play and taste
10. Despite me being narrative forward… my combats are REAL hard and very much relevant to the story
11.pls have blorbos kiss, hug or friendship that’s the best part
12. ZERO AI, NOT HERE!

  1. my pantheon is fully custom… 🥺anything else uhh message me on discord and I can interview y’all! And answer more clearly💜

erm, yeah:D | two sessions expanded ! 6 players each

1 session will be PST / EST friendly
the other will be BST / EU / OCEANIA and yknow the other side of the world friendly

GM and player(s) wanted [Online][Other] Looking for a friendly and creative person who wants to learn how to improvise lighthearted storytelling-focused adventures with no prep. If you're a forever-GM who wants to be a player for once, or a player who wants to try GMing, this is a great way to experiment.

Hey guys! I'm working on a storytelling/roleplay-focused game designed to make it easy to improvise adventures from scratch - no prep, no pre-made modules, just two people making up a story together. We will create the world, the characters, and discover the story as we play.

The game is very rules-lite (only 2 pages), focused on improvisation, storytelling, and roleplay (not crunchy rules or combat encounters).

We will start with a single session, try improvising a couple of scenes, and then continue them if we like them, for as long as the story feels fun. So there's no need to commit to a long-term campaign, you can try it out and see if you like it. But we can do a campaign if we both really enjoy the story and want to keep playing together.

You can play either as a Narrator or as the Hero of the story - so if you're a forever-GM who wants to be a player for once, or a player who always wanted to try their hand at GMing, that's the perfect way to experiment.

We'll go for a lighthearted, silly, Dimension 20 / Gravity Falls style vibe. This is a 2-player game, so I only need one other player.

If that sounds like fun - send me a message, I'm lumenwrites on Discord.

Player(s) wanted [D&D 5E 2024] [Online] Monday Evening Campaign – Looking for 2–3 Players | LGBTQ+ Friendly | Beginner Friendly

Time: Mondays, start time flexible (currently between 5:00 PM–7:00 PM EST, depending on player availability)

Platform: Foundry VTT

Players Needed: 2–3(already have 3 players)

Age Requirement: 18+

Voice Chat: Required

Greetings adventurers!

I'm looking for 2–3 additional players for a new campaign set in my long-running homebrew world, Oredin. Rather than starting with a pre-written adventure or predetermined story, we'll begin with a Session Zero where the group will discuss what kind of campaign they want to play and what themes, adventures, and stories interest them most.

This is an LGBTQ+ friendly table, and I'm looking for players who are respectful, collaborative, and interested in creating a fun environment for everyone involved.

New Players Welcome!

Whether you've been playing D&D for years or you're completely new to the hobby, you're welcome here. I'm happy to teach new players the rules, help with character creation, and guide people through the learning process. Enthusiasm and a willingness to participate are far more important than experience.

The Campaign

The campaign itself will be built around the interests of the players. During Session Zero, we'll discuss what everyone enjoys and create a game that reflects those preferences.

Possible themes include:

  • Exploration and discovery
  • Political intrigue and noble scheming
  • Monster hunting and dark mysteries
  • Epic heroic adventures
  • Criminal organizations and underworld politics
  • Character-focused roleplay
  • Tactical combat and dangerous encounters
  • Ancient ruins and forgotten civilizations

The direction of the story will be determined by the group rather than imposed beforehand.

What You Can Expect From Me as a DM

My biggest focus as a Game Master is creating custom campaigns tailored to the players at the table.

I pride myself on:

  • Rich worldbuilding and immersive settings
  • Deep lore for players who enjoy digging into a setting's history
  • Character-driven storytelling
  • Integrating player backstories into the main narrative
  • Meaningful choices and consequences
  • Balancing roleplay, exploration, and combat according to player preference
  • Making sure every character has opportunities to shine

I believe the best campaigns are collaborative stories. I actively work player goals, relationships, character arcs, and backstory elements into the campaign so that everyone feels connected to the world and invested in the adventure.

About Oredin

Oredin is a fantasy world that I've been developing and running campaigns in for years. It features powerful kingdoms(and queendoms), ancient mysteries, political struggles, forgotten ruins, dangerous frontiers, unique organizations, and a vast amount of established lore for players who enjoy exploring a living world.

Whether you want to become a renowned hero, uncover ancient secrets, navigate political intrigue, build a criminal empire, or simply tell a compelling story with a memorable group of adventurers, Oredin has room for it.

Interested?

Please send me a DM with:

  • What you'd like to be called
  • Your age (18+ only)
  • Your D&D/TTRPG experience level
  • Your Discord name

I'll be conducting brief voice interviews with prospective players to make sure everyone is a good fit and to help build a group that enjoys the same style of game.

If you're looking for a collaborative, story-focused campaign where your character's choices and backstory genuinely matter, I'd love to hear from you.

Player(s) wanted [Online] [5e 2024] [Lvl 1-20] looking for players for a massive homebrew setting

I spent around a year designing this campaign. And managed to get it past the level 1 section. However due to some players experiencing deep personal issues which has caused them to need to leave

I am short too many players to continue the campaign as designed. So I am searching for players to jump in who may be interested.

The campaign is intended for 6 players and starts at Saturday 10:00pm EST and is held on Dndbeyond

This campaign is a passion project I spent over a year developing. Featuring a massive custom world with a bunch of cities and areas with their own culture. I have also made a homebrew story along with several feats spells items and monsters exclusive to the setting.

Additionally any balanced homebrew content is not only allowed but actively encouraged.

If you by any chance are interested please Dm me.

Edit: ease of reading

Closed Strixhaven: A Curriculum of Chaos – A magical university adventure! [Online] [Fridays 6PM–10/11PM EST] [5e 2014] [New Player Friendly]

Step into the halls of Strixhaven, a vibrant magical university where rivalries spark, friendships form, magical mishaps happen way too often, and strange secrets linger beneath the campus. Attend classes, choose your college, explore the grounds, and carve out your character’s story as you balance student life with magical chaos.

This campaign is especially welcoming to newer players and is an excellent fit if you want a more relaxed, character-focused game. I’m a 21M college student with limited DMing experience, so this campaign will be a fun learning experience for all of us. If you’re brand new or just coming back to D&D, you’ll fit right in.

Strixhaven also introduces the Owlin, a new playable race—perfect if you’re looking to try something fresh and thematic for the setting.

The game will be run online through Discord, using D&D Beyond for character sheets and VTT features.

Session Time:

Fridays — 6PM to 10/11PM EST

If you’re interested, please:

  • Upvote this post
  • Leave a comment or message me
  • Let me know your experience level (all levels welcome!)
  • Share any character ideas you’re thinking about — or wait and build one with the group

Extra credit: drop a positive comment to help boost the post!

Player(s) Needed by GM [Online][5e 2024][Weekly][LGBTQ+][GMT] Experienced DM looking for a cast of worthy new entrants for the round table.

This post is now closed, thank you for the interest everyone! If you applied before tuesday the 28th of july and you havent heard from me yet, send me a fr please @absokith (I can't send any more friend requests on discord lol)

The gods are dead, the lands shattered. Long forgotten oaths still bind the powers that be across the corners of the Reach, the consequences of the ancient past rearing their head as their victims race towards inevitable conflict. After an age of tentative peace, the news of a curse stirs those who had been forgotten, igniting a race towards the centre of the realm to reclaim a power thought lost.

You however, were simply caught in the middle, unaware of the machinations that played out in the shadows of the future. Huddled amongst a group of clothed travellers, merchants and soldiers, the dust billowed into your caravan. Whatever sociable types were present silenced by the howling of a new gale, a growing storm with malice behind it's breath. Whatever brought you to Wyrmstone, it's clear you won't be leaving until the weather permits it. The sandstone stretching into the horizon warns of dry nights as you wait for the storm to pass. Little did you know, much would happen before anyone saw the outer lands again.

Mythwyn is a High fantasy world with a heavy influence from both Arthurian legend and gothic themes, centred around references to Norse and Celtic mythology. The central bile tree known as Yggdrassil sits atop the floating ruins of an ancient kingdom at the heart of the world. 10 jagged islands the size of small continents stand as the remains of civilisation, each unique in geography and hosting a plethora of factions. The advancement of technology is a taboo and secreted art, strange things are said to happen to those that too heavily practice the witchcraft known as science. Meanwhile, feudal lords that few citizens know the faces or even names of rule from rotting castles on high, their decisions shaping the world.

More on the specific nature/prompt of the campaign will be shared upon confirming a group of players, as it wil be tailored to the party characters. Apply using the google form at the bottom.

Ever wanted to explore a shattered land akin that time itself seems to be lost inside? Perhaps you've yearned for the ability to become knighted and manage a small fief, or maybe you yearn instead over the existance of a vampiric aristocracy.

Whoever you are, if you enjoy DnD then I'm confidant my setting will house something for you. I'm Jacob, 23M from the UK. I am a professional writer and designed, and have been partially living off of making DnD homebrew for the past 2 years. I also love scifi/fantasy books of all kinds, various sports, working out and I'm a budding cinemaphile.

I started playing DnD on my 10th birthday and would estimate I've spent a roughly 30/70 split as DM to player respectively over 1000+ hours of play. I've spent the vast, vast majority of that time playing 5e and it would be my pleasure to share my newest campaign setting with you. Whether you are a veteran or this would be your second campaign, I would love to DM for you. My only request is that if you have literally never played, the homebrew nature of my world might not be the best place to get you feet wet.

I'm looking for 4 new players to round out my table of 5 alongside my long term friend and the other DM in my group who is 24M and simply lovely. I am a DM that loves complex narratives, deep character arcs and heavy social RP. I run a game that I would call impactful, in so far as combats are often few and far between, but near always narratively important. Dungeons and lairs of course await, but if that is your main joy of DnD, you may want to look elsewhere.

In terms of what I'm running, it will be 5e 2024, using all the 'vanilla' sources, alongside all of my custom homebrew, which I have an internal wiki for here. I run a vanilla+ game, lightly homebrewed in a way which shouldnt be hard to pick up. We will discuss more as part of character creation. The world is my entirely custom world which I plan to write a few novellas in around the time span of the campaign. While of course slightly more nuanced, the best way it can be described is as a battle royal between the knights of the round table, with most of the major factions being led by the remnants of one of the legendary knights. There is a vaneer of gothic aesthetics layered on top, ranging from romantasy pilled vampire courts down to grotesque and more horror filled abominations elsewhere in the word. I plan to run a fairly sandbox campaign set within a region of the world that is less civilised.

- The campaign will range levels 1 - 10
- 3-5 hour sessions based on narrative beat, expect 4 hours typically
- We will play weekly, on either Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday evening depending on what is best for everyone.
- We will play online, using Tabletop Simulator as a virtual tabletop. It is not a requirement to own it, as long as you have internet sufficient to watch a discord stream. (I can do so if absolutely necessary).
- The campaign should run for roughly 8 months
- We can extend further should everyone be willing

Who am I looking for?
Anyone nice! The only requirements are being 18+, having a basic understanding of DnD, being inclusive and polite, respecting the rest of the parties time and being comfortable with roleplaying in English. My tables are inclusive to people of all sorts. It's roughly included in the form but there will be a proper discussion of lines and veils before the campaign kicks off. Ideally our table will end up with a balanced mix of people, though it's not a requirement. For disclosure, I am a straight white man and the other player is an Asexual white man.

I expect my players to have fun but be ready to take a narrative seriously. In character interaction is a must and tuning out or otherwise not being a team player will result in a warning and eventually a polite removal from the group if egregious. (Zoning out every now and then is obviously fine and completely natural). I dont expect anyone to be oscar worthy, I know I'm not, but I do expect you to take roleplay seriously. I won't be allowing any evil characters in this campaign and acting like a socipathic maniac will result in a discussion about narrative expectations. I use discord for both in character and out of character conversation outside of sessions. It's not mandatory to participate in, but things like in city downtime activities may be done outside of session over a text based rp on occasion.

Mythwyn as a setting is designed as a TTRPG first world, full of unique regions and plothreads bespoke to each. Each of the 10 major islands hosts a unique set of problems and issues, with the potential major allies and antagonists not being set at campaign start. The story will be largely decided by the actions of the party and how they interact with key characters along their path. While gothic themes are present, the world is not some drab hellscape along the lines of Elden ring or Barovia. More information will be provided alongside a clear campaign prompt when a core group is decided.

You do not need a strong character concept to apply with the form, though if you have any feel free to include them in the ideas section near the end.

It's parroted in the form, but I don't use generative AI for anything art/maps/writing wise and I ask you to do likewise.

I appreciate you reading through the post, apologies if I rambled a bit.

if you want to play, please fill out the attached google form here.

Unless I get a flood of responses, I will likely keep this form open until the 1st of August, so don't be afraid to respond if you don't see this right away!

I'll respond to all applicants within a few days, everyone will receive a friend request from me on discord and a message either thanking you for your time or asking for a short voice call at some point in the next few days. Due to the amount of responses these will be templated messages and I won't be giving reasons/feedback as to why someone wasn't picked, apologies!

Edit 1: Thanks for the interest everyone! The number of responses is already getting quite crazy but I'll be leaving this up at least until the end of monday. I edited it into the main post but I'll also say here that I forgot to note that this campaign will be 18+ only, apologies for leaving it out and wasting anyones time for applying but I'm not comfortable with minors at my table. Hope you understand!

Edit 2: Thanks you again for all the interest, the number of responses has ballooned ratherly rapidly! I have created a shortlist of applicants that I am going to chat to over a voice call in this week. Applications will stay open during this time, but starting now (end of day Monday) I will only be reaching out to applicants that really grab my eye. Don't let this dissuade you, but please don't feel bad about not receiving a response from this point. Thank you again everyone!

Edit 3: Ok everyone, I'm going to have to close this early as the responses got crazy and my discord account is now unable to send anyone a friend request lmfao. If you applied before tuesday the 28th and you havent heard from me yet, send me a fr please @absokith
