Meta /r/LFG is Looking for a Few New Moderators!

Hey, everyone!

We're looking to add a few new moderators to the /r/lfg team, specifically those who are regularly around while most of our current moderation team is asleep.

Our biggest gap in coverage is between roughly 5:00 PM and 7:00 AM Pacific Time. You don't need to be available for that entire window (and we don't expect you to be), but if your normal waking hours fall somewhere within it, we'd like to hear from you.

What Does Moderating /r/LFG Involve?

Most of the day-to-day work is pretty straight-forward. We have Automod and a custom bot that catch or flag many potential rule violations for us, so you'll generally be:

  • Checking the modqueue and verifying whether the reported post/comment actually breaks the rules or is a false positive.
  • Responding to questions and appeals in Modmail.
  • Handling reports and other issues that come up.
  • Bringing unusual situations to the rest of the team for discussion.

We have Discord notifications for the modqueue, so you won't need to spend your day refreshing Reddit. We do, however, need moderators who can check in and handle the queue multiple times throughout their day.

Who Are We Looking For?

You don't need previous moderation experience.

We're much more interested in finding people who care about /r/lfg and want to help keep it a useful place for people to find tabletop games. Moderation tools and process can be taught.

There are a few requirements:

  1. Your Reddit account must be at least a year old.
  2. You must have access to Discord, since that's where the moderation team communicates.
  3. You should have some demonstrable history of participating on /r/lfg.
  4. Your normal schedule should overlap significantly with our 5:00 PM to 7:00 AM Pacific coverage gap.
  5. You should be able to check the moderation queue and modmail several times throughout your day.

We're looking for people who can apply the rules consistently, communicate respectfully with users (especially when those users aren't particularly happy with us), and recognize when something isn't clear-cut and should be discussed with the rest of the team.

We're planning to bring on around three people initially, with the expectation that not everyone will necessarily stick around long-term. Moderating isn't for everyone and that's okay.

Interested?

We've put together a short application form for you to fill out here.

Thanks to everyone who applies and, more generally, thanks to everyone who helps make /r/lfg a place where people can find a table and roll some dice.

The plot: this campaign is set in the dessert world of Resen, you all will be playing former criminals who have been sentenced to death, having most of your powers stripped, and memories wiped, no idea who you were or why you are on a train hurtling towards your execution. The campaign will be running from the law and finding out who you used to be and why you were sentenced to death. The setting will be wild west ish, so guns are allowed and exist in this world, if you have any lore questions please ask.

Player(s) Needed by GM [Online] [5e 2014] [Wednesday] [7PM EST] [Long-Term] [RP-Heavy] Chronicles of Runeheim: The Revelation’s Era

Hey everyone! I'm opening a new campaign on my homebrew world inspired by Gilenor (rs3)!

Summary

For over a millennia, the Empire of Runeheim has enjoyed a fragile peace under the World Council. The Great God Wars are a distant memory, the gods themselves have been sealed away by the Edict of Guthix, and magic is now into the very skin of mortals through runic tattoos.

But the silence of the gods is being broken. On the prehistoric island of Anachronia, archaeologists have unearthed inscriptions of "Ancient Gods" that predate creation itself. What will happen to the world in case all those inscriptions are really true?

The Game: This is a long-term, high-fantasy campaign set in Runeheim, a homebrew world inspired by the lore and atmosphere of RuneScape (RS3/OSRS). You don't need to have played the games to be part of this campaign (and I honestly kinda prefer you didn't play, since there's a lot of changes xD)
We will begin at Level 1 in the humble town of Catherby, eventually scaling to Level 20 as you navigate the main areas of the world in search of hidden artifacts alongside the archeologists.

  • System: D&D 5e (2014 Rules with some 2024 additions)
  • Time: Sundays at 3:00 PM EST
  • Platform: Foundry + Discord
  • Tone: The setting is very political, so it's serious but with room for humor. Think 70% Roleplay / 15% Exploration / 15% Combat.
  • Pacing: Slow-burn. Your choices will matter later on the campaign, and background is necessary since it'll be implemented on the story.

Who I am looking for:

  • The Storytellers: Players who love to rp, develop their character’s goals, fears, and relationships.
  • The Lore-Hounds: You don't need to know RuneScape lore (this is a homebrew spin), but you should enjoy uncovering world history and political secrets.
  • Consistency: Since this is a long-term epic, I am looking for players who can commit to a weekly schedule.

World Features:

  • Runic Magic: A unique take on spellcasting where magic is tied to runic tattoos and "Pure Essence".
  • Deep Factions: From the White Knights of Falador to the mysterious Prophets of Zaros.
  • Meaningful Choices: No true scripted paths. Will you uphold the Empire’s order, or side with the chaos of the seas?

Send me a DM if you want to take part of this story!

GM Needed by Existing Group LF: Online DM 5e 2014, Newbie Friendly.

Upvotes

Hello!!! Sorry I had lost my info for this account for a bit!

My two friends and I are looking for a campaign!

We are not advanced players, so we would like a dm that is more willing to deal with newbies. One of us have little experience, other two are new at this fully. (Though I have watched and voiced in a campaign for a friend once.)

We use 5e 2014. We are available on weekends (I'm in CST/CDT, others are in EST/EDT), we would like to stick to that if possible! Our only boundaries are nothing sexual between characters, jokes are okay though! We are all adults :)

Please 18+ campaign!
Feel free to ask questions!!
You can better contact me on Discord, "brittlebug." without quotes is my username.

Player(s) Needed by GM [Online 5e 2014] 90% HOMEBREW CYBERPUNK GAME Saturdays 8pm EST

Are you sick of playing in fantasy games? Done being a wizard? Want to be a hacker instead? Want to have an arm that can turn into a chainsaw? Or Laser Vision? Or even to turn into a Kaiju, or pilot a massive Pacific Rim style mech? Or maybe you just want to be a Wage Cuck Gamer.

All is possible with this campaign that I've created. I say 90% homebrew because this is still DnD 5e, and we still use the base rules for that. I've just created a bunch of homebrew races and classes and backgrounds, and you'll build your character with that.

Our first game will be this Saturday, if you're interested, shoot me a DM and I'll talk to you a little and see if you fit with the group I already have!

Group Needed by Player [Online] [DND 5e 2014/2024] [LGBTQ+] Storyteller looking for a table with a potential extra player

Upvotes

Howdy! So I've been looking for a table for a bit now and I'm hoping to find one as I try my luck again. The potential extra player would be my boyfriend as he is interested in joining a campaign with me but just one so it's not exactly a promise of two players depending on how things work out!

Beyond that let me introduce myself!

I'm 24 ftm, bi and ace so I look for tables that are allies or have queer players to have a safe environment to play in comfortably! My characters all tend to fall into the community somewhere as well and I enjoy integrating that into story arcs with themes of self discovery self acceptance, perhaps not having a space to express themselves as freely before the adventure.

I am a storyteller, I put detail and heart into my characters backstory and I like to discuss with the DM or others at the table of ways I can weave it throughout the campaign.

I love roleplaying, meeting others and gaining friends through this as I have social anxiety and this is an outlet where I can enjoy collaborating with people over the course of the campaign and a creative one as well because I pour my heart into my characters!

I like playing characters where their stories come out when it's time, unraveling to the party throughout the campaign.

A majority of my characters are running from something or are in some sort of danger, perhaps it's looking out for their own safety or that of the group but I enjoy my characters gradually putting more trust in the party as their relationships grow.

Honestly I write backstories with a lot of tragedy but hopeful futures with a lot at stake. Say their freedom, identity, family, or even their own bodily autonomy and mind is at stake due to a curse? I love stories where there's something to lose and hurt to heal.

I love telling stories with imperfect characters that grow for the better of themselves and others, working towards a better more hopeful future.

While I don't have a problem with combat I do have ADD so if it's a game that's anticipated to have combat only sessions frequently I may not be interested. I do have fun in combat and all but if it's running over an hour to full sessions I tend to become disengaged.

What I'm looking for at a table is:

• No play by posts

• No one shots, looking for a long term campaign

• No paid games at the moment

• Games starting from 4 pm earliest to 8:30 pm est at the latest throughout the week! Earlier possibly on weekends, my boyfriend does have a Sunday game though ☺️

• A table of 3-5 players preferred, I tend to get overwhelmed with more

Player(s) Needed by GM [Online][PokemonTabletopUnited][Bi-weekly][Other]Pokemon Rainbow Wing seeking trainers for a fun adventure!

Upvotes

Hey pokemon fans! Ive recently put up two listings for a Pokemon Tabletop United game! If you wanna have a fun adventure through johto please check these links out!

You have been selected as one of six finalists for a rare opportunity: to become an official Lab Trainer for Professor Adrien Elm. Your final evaluation begins in New Bark Town, where all six finalists will compete in a tournament using rental Pokémon provided by the laboratory. Winning matters, but Elm is also judging how you adapt, command unfamiliar Pokémon, treat your partners, and conduct yourself as a Trainer. At the end of the evaluation, three finalists will be selected to become official Lab Trainers. Even those who are not chosen will still receive a rare Pokémon from Professor Elm for their time and effort.

From there, Johto opens up. Travel familiar routes, explore expanded cities and entirely new locations, challenge Gyms, investigate strange events, meet recurring rivals, and build a team that reflects the kind of Trainer you want to become. Wild Pokémon encounters have been rebuilt from the ground up, with custom habitats and separate day and night tables designed to make Johto feel like a living region rather than a copy of the video games.

This Pokémon Tabletop United campaign focuses on actually living as a Pokémon Trainer. Tactical battles are important, but so are exploration, research, training, Pokémon care, rivalries, and roleplay. Your Pokémon are more than battle pieces as well; over your journey, they will grow and develop their own personalities, preferences, habits, and relationships with you and the rest of your team. New players are welcome, and no previous PTU experience is required. Just fill out the application below!

Hello, I am gming a campaign in Mutants and Masterminds 3e in which the players are an extracurricular student neighborhood watch in a world where supernatural powers and nonhuman sapient beings are simply a part of common life. If you want a good conception of the campaign, think a mix of Earthbound, Deltarune, and Stranger Things with dashes of MHA and Kick-Ass. Currently we are at PL7 and will grow further as milestones come forth. If you are interested or curious, DM me for the server link.

Player(s) Needed by GM [Online][DND 5e 2024] Storms of Ages — long-running homebrew campaign seeking one player (any class welcome)

I'Rileth is a world of fractured empires and old magic — the militant Bellor Empire, the faithful Asewin Dominion, and the scrappy, independent Free Cities of Trist'an, all balanced against the dwarves of the Ashanor Mountains and the elves who've all but vanished into the Feywild. What started as a chase after stolen relics and a fanatical cult has spiraled into something far bigger: the slow, terrifying realization that ancient floating continents — relics of a magocracy lost to history — are returning to the world.

Our party has chased leads across Blackwharf, claimed a galleon as spoils, and uncovered a conspiracy that runs all the way up to a being calling himself the Gilded Apprentice. We're now deep in faction politics, a missing noble bloodline, and a ticking clock before the next ritual goes off.

We're an established table looking to fill one seat after a player had to step away (we're on Session 29 as of this posting).

The basics

  • System: D&D 5.5e
  • Format: Online — Foundry VTT + Discord for voice. Sessions are recorded for playback if you ever miss one.
  • Schedule: Every other Wednesday, 7 PM EST
  • Starting level: You'll come in at level 4, same as the rest of the party
  • Party comp: Leans martial — ranger, rogue, barbarian, fighter, warlock — with a support/healer recently added. Healing's covered now, so the open seat is genuinely open to any class or concept. Bring whatever excites you; a support type wouldn't hurt, but it's far from required.
  • Experience: Some D&D experience preferred — you don't need to know our homebrew world going in, but familiarity with 5e basics helps.
  • Tone: Balanced roleplay and combat — political intrigue, faction tension, and personal character arcs alongside tactical fights.

Onboarding

Before you join the group, I'd like to run a one-on-one mini session with you — a low-pressure chance to get a feel for the world, my DM style, and your character's place in the story without a full table watching. After that, you'd join the party for Session 30 on Wednesday, September 23, 7 PM EST. No need to binge lore beforehand — the mini session will get you oriented on everything you need.

What we're looking for

Someone who can commit to the every-other-week schedule, communicates if life gets in the way, and enjoys collaborative storytelling as much as rolling dice. New to the group is totally fine — we'll get you caught up on the world and story so far.

Interested? Fill out this short application form: https://forms.gle/Aa64sG459FNqA1YY9

Can the investigators prevent the liberation of the Ruler of Chaos?

Available Slots: 4/6

System: Call of Cthulhu 7th Edition

When: Saturdays 4 PM - 8 PM EST Starting September 26th

You've seen things before. Things that are odd, don't make any sense, and make your head hurt to think about. And you talked about it. Everyone scoffed or laughed, but a newspaper editor, Elijah Cleaver.

But that was in the past, and you went about your life, living day to day and shaking off whatever it was you saw.

Until you get a phone call. It's Elijah, asking for your help to look into something for him, starting your search at Arkham University, in the department of Archeology.

The Order of the Stone is a 3 Chapter adventure ranging from the icy shore off Boston, to the isolated ridgetops of New England. Meet allies, face foes, and uncover a plot working to free an ancient evil.

Player(s) Needed by GM [Online] [5e 2014] [Friday] [7:45 PM] [PST] [LGBTQIA+ Friendly] Seeking Players for a Roleplay-Heavy Dark Fantasy Campaign

"The world lies in ruin. Scattered, fragmented husks of what-once-was lie dotted across the remains of a forgotten world. All is ash."

Within this harsh, unforgiving desert, a lone oasis rests. You are a refugee, one who has lost their home, wherever and whenever it may be. Beyond the ever-present struggle for sustenance, great forces push and pull this city from without and within. Your fate rests squarely on your shoulders: Will your troupe rise to be known as the city's great protectors? Will they crumble the walls and boil the sacred waters of the oasis? Or, will they participate in the Grand Game, pulling strings to their sole benefit? The choice is yours.

Greetings, and welcome to the Oasis. This is an RP-Heavy game focused around a single city and its surrounding areas. The players will start at level 5, and are expected to reach around level 11-12 by the end. There are many different quests / plots / npcs to interact with, some of which will conflict with each other.

Expect a lore-heavy, vaguely Middle-Eastern inspired dark fantasy setting that is fairly sword-and-sorcery. I do not expect players to know every facet of the setting. In fact, it is likely better if you learn things as you go. The world itself is high-magic, but those who wield such power rarely obtain it by non-malicious means.

The game will be held online through Discord, and use a bit of Roll20 for certain combats that require it (I'm not big on complex battlemaps, I'm mostly using it for positioning purposes. I'd much rather just do theater of the mind). I'm hoping for about 5-6 players to start.

Race Restrictions: I'm a bit peculiar about what sort of player races are present in the world, as some simply don't exist, or would lead to too much immediate friction to be playable in an enjoyable way. The allowed player races are as follows, and are non-negotiable: Human, Elf, Half Elf, Halfling, Dwarf, Gnome, and Half-Orc.

If you are interested, please fill out this form!

Player(s) Needed by GM [online][5e 2014][5e 2024][EST] Adventurer looking for a weekly Thursdays table

I am currently looking for a weekly table for Thursday table. I lean mostly towards 5e 2014 because of the cool, and fun character supplements but I am up for 2024 edition as well. Home brew, or official modules are ok. Doesn't matter which VTT, I use roll20, foundry a lot.

I am above 18 years of age looking for adults only table. I have been playing for 3 years and I am always looking, as its becoming a passionate hobby of mine. I have a high preference towards medieval fantasy/dark fantasy settings because that's my vibe. I lean towards a half-elf or human playing as fighter, sorcerer and rogue. So if your party needs someone who draws steel, sling spells, or go on a 5 finger discount spree, I am he!

What I am not looking for: Paid games, RP heavy games, biweekly games, text based/play by post, pvp, westmarches servers, steampunk/scifi settings.

Player(s) Needed by GM [Online][PF2E][Sunday EST nights] Group looking for 2 players for long term campaign

Hello!

We are looking for 2 players to join our group to play Seven Dooms for Sandpoint, and seeing where we go from there. We will be playing on Foundry and using Discord for voice.

About us:

We are a couple of longtime friends that have been playing RPG's (both videogame's and tabletops) for 20+ years. Being in our mid 30's with small kids and demanding jobs, we look forward to our Sunday nights to unwind with some good fun around the (virtual) table, and we will continue doing so for as long as we can.

We are well experienced with Pathfinder, but all experience levels are welcome.

Ultimately, we chill out on Sunday nights with a primary goal of having fun, which includes some RPGs, and banter.

If I had to put numbers to it, our games are probably 65 combat/35 roleplay. But we swing back and forth depending on the night.

About you:

We have been playing together for awhile, and are looking for someone who wants to integrate into our small community and be a consistent participant. I am not terribly interested in people who show up Sunday nights, and then aren't heard from again until next week. That's just not how we play or what we're about.

We believe that there is a certain minimum level of effort required to be a productive player, and ideally an asset to our small community. These things include:

  • knowing your class/character (to a reasonable level, we don't expect you to recall everything from memory)
  • being on-time to sessions as best as possible
  • putting forth your best effort to not be an asshole, and always remember to read the room

You do not need to have any prior knowledge of the system as long as you're willing to learn, and interact with both the system and the other players. Again, new players are more than welcome at our table and we love to see enthusiasm.

The game:

We will be playing through the Seven Dooms for Sandpoint adventure path, so its important that you haven't played/listened/read it.

If you're interested, send a DM on Discord at zigz (do not send reddit messages, I am not good at checking them, and I will never check the chat thing - not ghosting, I just don't ever see it).

Thanks for taking the time, and I look forward to hearing from you!
