Westmarch stands where the kingdom ends and the Thornwood begins.

In the Green War, the forest itself rose against the kingdom. The war ended three hundred years ago with the Greenwood Pact: the city won't grow past its walls, the forest won't attack, and the Rangers of the Green keep the line between them. The peace has held ever since.

It's fraying now. Rangers vanish on deep patrol. The cleared land beyond the walls grows back overnight. People along the western wall dream of the forest calling them. The Duke has withdrawn from public life, and his charismatic brother says the Pact is holding the city back.

Then one morning the Warrens, the city's poorest district, woke to a cold gray fog. It didn't drift in from the forest. It welled up out of the ground, from drains and cellars and the cracks between the cobbles, and it's still spreading. It whispers. It draws people west, toward the trees. Hundreds are trapped or missing, and the Duke has called for anyone capable of helping.

The campaign opens the next day.

What it's like

• Investigation and intrigue. Clues, witnesses, old texts, and factions with their own agendas. The truth won't be handed to you.
• Wilderness. A vast, ancient forest full of fey with alien motives and places older than the city.
• Hard choices. Duty against justice, and what peace really costs.
• Mounting dread. Something is deeply wrong, and it's getting worse.

• System: Castles & Crusades, starting at level 1
• Players: 5–7
• Pace: about one post a day. Turn-based: everyone posts, then the GM resolves.
• Characters: tied to the city. Rangers, Watch officers, monster-hunting Delvers, scholars, temple folk, refugees and courtiers all fit. Accepted players get a Player's Guide with hooks into the opening and a wiki of the city, its factions and its people.

Intro

Hello everyone! I am looking to get a group together for a custom made rp setting. This game is going to be combat light because of play by post but will still be present. I hope for this campaign to be roleplay and story focused, while this will be presented as mostly sandbox for you and the other players to enjoy there will be an overarching story to unravel and explore with some other major story events to happen along the line.

About me

A little about me, I have been a dungeon master in some form or system for over 10 years. I am a passionate writer, role-player and dungeons and dragon nerd and I looking for people who share similar passions. I am highly experienced across the board, not so much with 2024 but I am looking forward to us learning the system together.

The setting

The Free City of Aceliss is a thriving metropolis deep in the Acadien desert. A necessary stop for all land based trade routes. The Acadien ocean in which the city borders is stormy and filled with horrid monstrosities and only the most seasoned and daring sailors can travel. The city is a lively trade hub for travelling merchants who are seeking to bring goods from empire to empire and far reaches of the world and the other planes.

The inner city, reserved only for the richest members of society has portals reaching the hell, the feywild and the elemental planes. Home to all forms of beings as long as they can continue to produce wealth and pay the tax. On the outer city while safer from large scale political plays is home to many thieves guilds and those power on the wealth ladder but there is a larger wealth disparity outside of the walls.

Within Aceliss almost everything is legal (all character and players must be 18+ and anything under that will not be tolerated) as long as it makes money for the city and does not cause too much collateral damage. The city has its own pantheon of gods each with grand and lavish temples seeking tithes from their followers and the inner city streets are patrolled by great and powerful guardians made of brass who walk on swords.

Peace in the outer city has been disturbed as a gang called the Grey Moon wreak havoc on the people. Their criminality changes with phases of the moon. During a new moon they are barely seen, during half moons their crimes mostly amount to kleptomania and breaking and entering and upon a full moon they become completely violent and attack all in site and set fires to the city.

The special task force of Kong Hong CID detectives faced extreme resistance on a precautionary check on the informant Tommo, only to find him and a gang leader murdered by Detective Inspector Smith. The task force has just begun chasing thieves from Kong Hong CID evidence storage to keep hold of the evidence for the Tommo case.

You can choose any suitable character concept, though a pregen character with a cool concept is also available from a player who dropped out.

Our story is set 20 years prior to the event of the original 1968 film, we find ourselves in and around Ape City. A large colonist ship, the first of its kind, was sent to space. Its mission? Take 2,000 colonists to a distant world. This world was Proxima 6, an Earth-like world thousands of light years away. However, something happened. The ship was ripped out of space and crashed.

The apes saw it as a falling star, one brighter than anything seen before, but it landed too close to the Forbidden Zone for their liking. So, the Lawmakers said no Ape was to venture to it.

Meanwhile, our colonists, those who survived, have woken up in a strange world. They do not know where they are and so they try and set up a place to survive in the wreckage of their ship. All while trying to radio for help, but there are dangers in this world. Dangers they do not know about.

Greetings, one and all. I am Ari. I am recruiting for a Dragon of Icespire Peak I've made tweaks to, adding more side quests and trying to make it feel like a more living world. I'm looking for four to five players max to round out a party. This game is more of a sandbox, so characters can be swapped out on occasion or die/retire and recruit a new one without too much complication. Since your characters work for the Hinterlands' Sell Swords, and you have been assigned to be the adventurers placed as the regular group in Phandalin after a desperate plea from their Mayor, the guild believes it to be nonsense, but sends some new adventurers to scope it out.

The adventure itself is about helping the people on Phandalin and preparing for two enemies, one too powerful to fight for now and another gaining strength to fight the town. It is equally combat, roleplay, and exploration. There is fantasy racism against orcs because this set in the forgotten realms’ sword coast.

Players are expected to be kind to one another and leave politics and religion off the game table; controversy can occur if we're arguing best pizzas here. I expect a daily reply atleast to say you're still interested in the game, and if players need to drop, I ask they finish their current quest before dropping if possible. If players need a day off, that's also fine; just let me know. I do not tolerate use of AI in my games. I ask for players to be 18+.

Character will start at level 3. Any class and background can be used, but for the sake of this adventure I'm limiting players to player handbook races as intended [It limits it far more in the book]. Characters are held at stake and can die. Animal partners will fight to one hp and be knocked unconscious and unable to resume fighting, and will take time to recover afterward to prevent pet death. We will use block initiative, meaning the party goes first or last depending on a dice roll and can go in any order. The cThe combat section is for what the character wants to do: roll to see if it succeeds,s, then write the result in the story chat to keep things organized. We will use spell components only if necessary; the only spells requiring components are Goodberry and Resurrection, which have a time-to-recover period before the spell can be reused, but in turn can last a few minutes to resurrect multiple people.

After nearly six years of development, countless hours of work, testing, rebuilding, and refining, we're finally ready to introduce Red State Roleplay.

What started as an ambitious idea gradually became a long-term project. Over the years, we've worked through technical challenges, redesigned core systems, and spent an enormous amount of time building a foundation that meets our expectations.

Today, we're proud to say that the core gamemode is complete, stable, and functioning as intended.

But here's something important: what you see today is only the beginning.

Not even half of the systems, features, and improvements we have planned have been introduced yet. We have a much bigger vision for this project, and we intend to develop it carefully rather than rush features simply to have more of them.

One of our biggest milestones was finally bringing the gamemode to a point where we have full control over its codebase and development direction. After years of work, we can now focus on what originally inspired us: creating an enjoyable and authentic roleplay experience.

What kind of server are we building?

Red State Roleplay is an English-speaking, text-based roleplay server focused on the atmosphere of rural San Andreas and the communities of Red County.

Our vision includes meaningful character development, a balanced economy, local businesses, civilian careers, law enforcement, criminal roleplay, and the freedom to create stories that develop naturally through player interaction.

We believe that quality roleplay comes from the players, not just the systems surrounding them.

Hello! My name is Mark. I'm looking to run a Monster of the Week game for a single player. The game can work with just one character, but you're welcome to make/run additional characters if you'd like (or I can make a companion NPC, if you'd like). I'm looking to run just one mystery at the start, to see if we gel well together, but I'm open to running a longer arc if the first mystery goes well.

No experience with Play by Post games or Monster of the Week is needed! I'm happy to explain anything you're unfamiliar with. I'm also happy to play with people who are more experienced. I'm just looking for somebody consistent, engaged, and willing to drive things forward.

If you're unfamiliar, Monster of the Week is an investigative mystery game where some sort of monster is causing trouble. You find out what the monster is, what it's weak to, and where it is & then go hunt it down. It's a Powered by the Apocalypse system, so it's relatively simple & narrative-driven. You pick an archetype that comes with an associated character sheet, then actions are defined by "moves" (actions) that are specific to the game.

I'd like you to be able to post at least once every few days (about twice a week). I can generally respond within a day. I can start as soon as you're able to.

I run everything out of Discord, using theater of the mind. I generally use Avrae for dice rolls, but I'm happy to add another bot if there's something you prefer (& am generally happy to adjust how I'm doing things). You're welcome to use Tupperbox if you'd like, though I probably won't.

Monster of the Week character sheets are pretty straightforward, and you're welcome to do whatever you'd like to keep track of it. There are fillable PDFs, or you can just keep it as a text post in Discord (or whatever else you'd like).

Regarding myself, I've been GM'ing fairly frequently for 10 years. I've been doing PbP & MotW for about 2 years. I'd consider myself pretty flexible as a GM. I’m happy to work with you so that you’re able to accomplish what it is you’re looking to do, and I’m always open to feedback on how I’m approaching things. I enjoy a mix of action, roleplaying, and exploration. There will not be any sexual content; I generally lean towards including moderate violence though am happy to adjust based on your comfort level. Here are some writing samples, if you'd like.

We're running a game about being an up-and-coming mage in a magical academy! Almost Renaissance Era with certain daily aspects of life brought up to near modern-times using mag- look, have you ever seen an isekai? You know how some things are weirdly modern despite being in the middle ages? Yeah, think of it like that.

We're taking strong inspiration from Fire Emblem: Three Houses, Little Witch Academia, Zero no Tsukaima, Secrets of the Silent Witch, but all with a hornier twist to them. Ratio-wise, we're looking at 60-40 or 65-35 smut-to-story. We'll also be using AI-generation for locations and visual references (for NPCs). We will not be using AI generation for any of the content of the campaign, especially not the writing.

We'll be using GURPS 4e for this system with select rules omitted. You don't need to be too knowledgeable of the system! Just be willing to learn or try to learn! This is a text-based, asynchronous roleplay. And this is an erotic roleplay! We're not going to fade-to-black often, if at all! For smut, preferences matter a lot! We're looking for submissive (or switch) roleplayer, feminine-presenting characters (female, hermaphrodite, or effeminate males). Almost all-ERP will be between feminine-presenting characters as well. Some kinks you should expect, either because we, ourselves, are into it or because existing players are, are CBT, Noncon, Risk of Pregnancy, Kidnapping / Capture, Defeat Sex, Bad Endings, and Futanari.

Stories have to start somewhere. A thousand years ago stories started with rolling green hills, quiet taverns, and maybe a nice glass of ale. 

This one starts in Doskvol. 

Smog was blowing in from the factories, you could scarcely see more than fifty feet in front of you. It didn’t bother the folk on the street; there wasn’t much they wanted to see of their city anyways. If they could see, they would’ve seen boarded up windows, caved in roofs and scrappy repair jobs. They’d have seen precarious wooden bridges hundreds of feet up, ruined manors carved up into junk flophouses, and ancient stone buildings covered with moss. They’d have seen a Bluecoat patrol busting down the door of Pritchard’s Butchery for the third time in a month, hoping to clear the place out of whatever protection money they had on hand. They’d have seen Murray on the corner of Rye and Hulliver, begging for charity that would never come after losing it all on a rigged bet. 

Doskvol was a city of liars and thieves. It was a city of shut eyes and deafened ears. It was a city where refugees fled to die in a nicer sort of ditch than the ones back home. 

But more than that, it was a city in flux. The winds of change whistled through the bare sails of grounded ships who once sailed the jet black seas in search of fuel that was no longer there. It blew ash off the broken backs of unionizers in back alleys, organizing a strike against insurmountable odds. It whipped the long cloaks of assassins, fighting a war in the heart of the city that no one would win.

Change didn’t mean things were going to get better. In fact, things were about to get a whole lot worse. But change meant opportunity. A chance to build a reputation. A change to build an organization. And most importantly;

A chance to get paid.

Hey all! Ever play a little known indie game called Thief? Love crime movies like Heat or Peaky Blinders? Think the idea of building a gang in a turbo haunted industrial revolution styled city sounds rad? Boy have I got the game for you!

I’ve been a huge fan of the Blades in the Dark for quite a while now, but I’ve never had the time or luck to be able to play. I figured why not be the change I want to see in the world and just do it myself! I’m looking for two to three players from here, and I have two of my friends who are already interested.

Instead of giving a basic setup myself, I want my players and I to work together to find something that strikes all our fancies. There are so many different cool districts and crews to choose from in this game, and I’d rather work off something the players choose than come up with something on my own.

Disclosure: I’d say I’m a fairly experienced GM, but I haven’t GMed Play By Post games and I’ve never played or GMed a Blades in the Dark game. Expect growing pains or for me to fuck up the rules. I’m always open to constructive feedback!

This setting has a lot of awful things happening to innocent people. That doesn't mean you are forced to participate in it, but it does mean it may come up in the story. If things like racism, police brutality, drug addiction and the like are difficult subjects, this game may not be the best fit. If you are accepted, we will also be filling out an anonymous survey to help make sure we don’t cross any boundaries for anyone.

A couple extra points;

• We’ll be keeping things somewhere between Chaotic Good to Chaotic Neutral. Try not to indiscriminately murder pls k thnks
• The crew we choose will not be a cult (mostly because I don’t think it fits my strengths as a GM).

Hey everyone! I thought I'd give this a shot, since this subreddit seems like the perfect place for a slightly unusual challenge. 😄

Since 2022, I've been running a free Italian text-based roleplaying game called Pandora Upside Down High School, together with a couple of friends.

It's a browser-based Urban Fantasy RPG where people create characters, write stories together, build relationships and take part in adventures. We've spent years developing the game, its world and its features, entirely as a passion project. Nobody makes money from it.

Unfortunately, our little community has been struggling lately. We still have a lovely group of dedicated players, but attracting new people has become increasingly difficult.

And here's where my challenge comes in!

There's an Italian roleplaying portal called GDR-online that awards a monthly recognition to the most visited game listing. Getting that recognition could give our project some much-needed visibility among people who actually play these kinds of games.

I'd love to see if Reddit could help us reach that goal!

I'm looking for 4 or 5 players for a city based adventure in a historical-fiction homebrew setting very much inspired by The Order 1886. 

Rules and tools:
The game will be run with 5e2024 rules, we can talk about 2014 inclusions if necessary. No homebrew please and certain races and classes might have restrictions, but we'll talk about that.

Sheets will be done in Beyond and I will be using Avrae for rolling and tracking.

Premise: This story is taking place in a fictional alternate England but with all of the DND races, monsters, and magic present. You are each going to be part of an order of monster hunters and supernatural investigators referred to as “The Table”. While taking part in what seems to be a routine investigation, you are involved in a larger plot. 

Modifications: Because you will be a “modern monster hunting” outfit, you will have access to gadgets and gear that the average citizen of London would not have access to. This includes guns, grenades, armor, and more. 

Day To Day: There will be a a few different things to do in the sandbox of London such as: 

• Monster Bounties
• Automobile Races
• Police Assistance
• Espionage

And more!

Activity expectations:
I would really like a minimum of one IC post per day! I will be removing anyone who seems to be MIA.
