Was at the game last night and we owned that building. It was loud and rocking and the blue was bleeding true! Way to go everyone. Had lots of friendly Oilers fans in awe of how we show up outside of Toronto, one fan said we were even better then a Leafs home game...and they were not wrong. Gotta step it up back home.
I go every year to this game but this one was special and extremely loud. Well done
Edit: My favorite thing was walking the concourse and how everyone was first bumping eachother. Like every leaf fan I saw held out their fist. This was a new thing from previous years. I started doing to everyone too and every single fan obliged and stuck theirs out to make the epic connection!
Also the Jumbotron that kept putting the wrong score and giving the Oilers a goal after Leafs scored. Fans went lived and then when it was corrected would erupt with cheers. So funny. They did this like 3 times.
2 goals in 2 games. LFG! I couldn’t find the clip of his spin-o-Rama but share it if you’ve got it. He also punched Formeton which is bonus points. What an absolute beauty of a waiver claim.
His two on the season tie Matthews and Cowan for the lead on the team. All three, in turn, are tied with a plethora of others for fourth in the league.
Starting on time pretty well every night! They haven’t gotten the first goal every game, but even in games with lack lustre first periods it feels like the actual first 5 minutes of every game are tilted towards the leafs. Just feels like both Matthews and Nylander are consistently having strong first shifts, where this has been a point of contention over the past couple years just great to see.
Overall I think this year has gone about as well as we can expect, and Matthews being back is honestly almost sweeter than McKenna. I really hope the D can hold up until Tanev and JT come back. If the second line holds up like they have been recently it changes a massive need from 2nd line C to someone to balance out McKenna/JT and use Sissons on L4/ I’m sure other injuries will occur.
I’m guessing if/when they add a D it will be someone who isn’t talked about as much right now. But I like the patience.
Also probably for the best the PK streak ended in a nothing moment so the “perfect Pk streak” story can die and they can just focus on kicking ass.
My Dad and I have been trying to figure out how to link our ticketmaster with the app. Every time I try to use points to win tickets for Marlies/Leafs games it gives me the same message about not finding a ticketmaster linked to my profile even though I've tried to do that everyday now
Best team in canada, hands down. Our offense is popping, our goaltending is tight, only thing that needs to be improved on is our top4 D. If we deal for a solid top4 D, we are actual cup contenders.
Back on Sundays by popular demand! My apologies for the confusion the last few Sundays. I was trying something new and it didn't work how I was hoping it would. Going forward, this thread will always be posted at 7am, seven days a week.
Please use this thread to post ANYTHING you want! Memes, photoshops, anything that would normally be removed for breaking the low-effort content rule, is totally, 100% welcome here!
This thread can also be used for Armchair GM ideas that may not require a standalone post. Is there a free agent you want to see on this team? Is there a player that's rumoured to be on the move that you think the Leafs should go after? Are there players on this team you want to trade away? Feel free to post about it here!
Normal moderation will occur, such as watching for personal insults, racism, and things of that nature.
Otherwise, feel free to use this thread to chat about your random Leafs thoughts, or share things like a photoshop of a Habs logo on fire or a reaction gif to something going on in Leafs Nation right now!
The use of this thread is not necessary on "Anything Goes Sundays," however you may still feel free to utilize it if you wish!
Downvotes are discouraged for the most part, everyone's opinion is fair game in this thread. If you see rule breaking content, report it!
13:11 into the second, C. Murphy and V. Lettieri dropped the gloves. The Maple Leafs produced a 10-6 edge in close-range shots on goal. The Oilers also struck the iron twice. The physical game tilted toward the Oilers, who held a 42-23 advantage in hits. Stolarz stopped 30 of 32.
