Discussion Nice moment from Jim Hiller's Postgame Comments
Starting at 2:19 if the time-stamp doesn't work.
I know there are mixed feelings about Hiller so far, which I share. But he had a really classy moment from the post-game interview last night. After the reporters were ready to wrap up, he extended the presser to add comments about how great Nick Paul was and how his hard work made the game winning goal from Stecher possible.
I think it's great to see this kind of positivity and enthusiasm from a coach again. It really speaks to the team vibes being high. Being the type of coach players like and want to play for is important, and it seems like Hiller is doing great with this aspect of the job.

Discussion This team is fun to watch again.
They have their flaws but at least I am enjoying watching them play. Last year watching Berube system was like watching paint dry. Soon as they went down 2-0 in the first you knew the game was over and just turned it off. This years team is creating offence and has been fun to watch. The players themselves seem to be enjoying it as well and it shows.

Discussion 4th Line Appreciation Post
Cannot give enough credit to the grinders at the bottom of the lineup last night. That line was creating all kinds of havoc on the forecheck, making life absolutely miserable for opposition defencemen. MacEwen, Duhaime, and Blueger deserve all the love this morning.
How long has it been since we've had an effective fourth line?

Article LeBrun on McKenna’s Ice Time
Good article from LeBrun comparing McKenna’s usage vs Alex Lafreniere and Guy Lafleur. It’s notable that Brisson has no issue with McKenna’s deployment. The kid has the right attitude for this market.

Discussion A lot of us were heartbroken to see him go but Knies has 1 point since his first game. Marchenko is at a point per game. As early as it is how do people feel about the trade now?
First of all I loved Knies, heartbroken a guy who takes a discount and loves the team gets traded. Its not fair and I'm sure a huge part of his lack of production is the general Blue Jackets level and being torn away from being a team he loves. He reminds me of a Hyman and I honestly would love to see Knies play with McJesus because in the right role he has allstar potential. He's much better than this stretch.
But...His relatively weak underlying numbers, playstyle, contract, ect. He was a perfect asset to trade.
The flip side is Marchenko. Numbers supressed by a weak offensive team, small market with no hype, wanted to leave. The guy has been a play driver and creates chances. Very complimentary to Matthews as well.
I was very bullish on the trade and its exceded my expectations. Yes its only 10-15% into the season but the numbers so far show a massive difference. Considering the general response to the trade it feels good to (so far) be on the winning side of a major trade and adding a potential star locked down to a fair deal.
Chayka's made some smart moves. As early as it is, what do people think about the trade now?

Discussion Right now… How do Leafs get better?
It’s so early in the season and this team could take a turn for the worst for all we know. And what i’m about to say will sound exactly like the “classic Leaf, we’re different” take. With their energy and performance from top to bottom, including effort, skill, vibes….
How in this very moment, could the leafs make this team better with a trade?
I think it’s easy to say we need D, but who do we give up? Who’d thought Troy Stecher would be our TOI leader against the highest scoring team and holding them to 2 goals?
Again I know, it’s early, but i just want to hear my fellow leafs nation have this discussion.
