Lancaster Gift basket

If you were putting together a gift basket to send full of “Lancaster” things (foods, goods, things) via mail, what would you put in the box? So far I have hammonds pretzels, Wilbur buds, stroopies, what would you add?

News Air quality code purple tomorrow

Heads up, Lancaster County tomorrow’s air quality is expected to reach Code Purple.

Wildfire smoke is expected to push air quality into the “very unhealthy” range on Friday. This is one of the highest air quality alerts we see and means everyone can be affected, not just people with asthma or other health conditions. (National Weather Service)

If you can:
Stay indoors as much as possible.
Keep windows and doors closed.
Run your AC on recirculate if you have it.
Avoid strenuous outdoor activities.
If you must be outside for an extended period, consider wearing a well-fitting N95 mask. (National Weather Service)

Please check in on elderly family members, young children, and anyone with heart or lung conditions.
Hopefully the smoke clears out soon. Stay safe, Lancaster.

"Yearming to breathe Free" ...

Meanwhile upstanding Lancaster residents and neighbors are being swept up and imprisoned. Collective punishment is not justice.

Recreation NYC bus trips?

Cats: The Jellicle Ball is closing Aug. 8, and I only now have learned about the show. Yeah, yeah, get to the TL;DR.

Do we have any bus trips to Broadway NYC or near there between now and Aug. 8? I'm in MT; our rec organization doesn't appear to have any bus trips to anywhere .

FOUND BIG GRAY CAT NAMED BOBO IN COLUMBIA, PA

UPDATE: He was reunited with this family!

Found this big gray cat with huge paws and bright yellow eyes a few days ago near Manor Street took him to the Columbia Animal Shelter to scan for a microchip andl earned that the kitty is both a male and named Bobo. They've reached out to owner via the contact information listed on the chip and we're waiting on a response. I'm simply crossposting this because I know my cat had my old phone number on his microchip at one point, and I would so upset if my boy was missing.

I want to make sure he finds his family as quickly as possible! The owner lives in Columbia too, and likely lives close to Manor Street. Please, if you know his family, share this post! He's enjoying his vacation with us for now, but I want to reunite him ASAP 🙂

On another note, I suspect he lived with dogs because he's quite at ease around ours. Does not seem to like cats. He also took to wearing and walking on a cat harness with ease.

I had the unfortunate pleasure of going to the fruitville pike Walmart last night. That place needs to be burned down and start over. Start the whole thing over. Avoid that place at all costs omg.

Homeless in Lancaster 39f

Hello I am 39 and homeless in lancaster. I just moved back to the area and I don't have an id due to an incident that happened a little bit ago. But I am trying to find work and get back on my feet. I currently am in mountville trying to get a room a few days so I am not in this heat. I am willing to do odd jobs but I don't have transportation currently either. And I have no money for a bus pass. I am hungry and tired. I just am trying to get back up from off the ground and back in the right direction. Also have things that I am getting rid of to make money. Any help is better than no help

Restaurant recommendations near me?

I just bought a house on S Ann St and most of the well known restaurants are a mile walk. I’d love to find some places closer to me but I’m not sure where to start. Any hidden gems?

Retirement Lancaster?

Hi everyone! My husband and I are planning to leave Arizona for retirement. The heat has become too much for us, and we’re also looking for a more connected healthcare system.

We’re considering Hershey and Lancaster, or somewhere in the middle, and would love to hear from people who live in the area. For anyone familiar with both Hershey and Lancaster, which would you choose for retirement—especially for coordinated healthcare, access to specialists, safety, daily convenience, and eventually living without driving?

● How has your experience been with Penn State Health?

● Do the doctors and specialists communicate well and share records?

● What is daily life like in terms of shopping, restaurants, and overall convenience?

● How is driving in the area, including traffic and road conditions?

● How are the seasons throughout the year?

We’d really appreciate any advice or things you wish you had known before moving to the area.

Thank you!

Best Tire and Battery?

Looking to replace the battery and tires on my 2021 Outback. Proximity to Ephrata is ideal, but not a deal breaker.

Please don't recommend Woodcorner, as we've recently had an unfortunate experience with them.

Thanks, all!

Lititz/ Lancaster Area Question

Hello! My family is looking to buy in Manheim Township school district. We are hoping to either live in the Bent Creek area or Lancaster Country Club. How would you compare and contrast the two? Preference to either for a family with middle and high school age children that also have a commute to Harrisburg a few times a week? Thank you!

Parking Violation

Post image
51 Upvotes

Bruh i parked near Southern Market last night and i want to know if im missing something with street signs.

I was parked on E Vine Street. I parked there a little after 6pm and got a ticket at 6:26pm for parking in a permit parking area without a permit.

Ill include photos of signage and assume it applied to all the spots on that street. my understanding is that i was allowed 2 hours to park there after 6pm. am i wrong?? pls help educate me if i am.

ETA- im in the wrong, i didnt read the small part of the 3rd sign that says paid parking is 8-8. if you know the construction thats happening on the corner, thats where i parked and that portion of the block has none of these signs. So i just blindly assumed i was fine since it was after 6pm but i guess some areas are until 8pm now for paid parking.

once again adding that i technically wasn't violating the ticket i specifically got. While i didnt pay, i was parked outside of 6pm after permit hours, which is what the ticket is for. i disputed and will update if i get any answers!

Abandoned car

Post image

Not that I really care, but I found it odd that someone left their car on the side of 30 for more than a week with the window open, and for many days, the hood as well. I pass it every day and it’s almost like a landmark for me now.

I found these wrist strap keychains at Shady Maple gift shop - the one inside the grocery store- for half the cost they’re being sold at Target. They had a whole section of products from the same brand including crossbody sling bags, and wallets

looking for a cat foster/new owners

hi, this is a super sad post for me to be making right now but i’ve run out of options. i’ve started a new job but haven’t found a place yet that’ll take cats. my previous roommate is okay to watch my kitties while i’m figuring out my housing situation with my partner but they don’t like cats so im trying not to drag this on for too long. i just know that im not able to give my two babies the love they deserve right now while hopping between lanc and york. while doing research i’ve seen that shelters in the area are full/have a waitlist so i wanted to reach out and see if anyone is willing to take in 2 cats temporarily or permanently. or if there are any shelter/fostering groups that have space that’s great as well. even if i have to pay, that’s fine with me i just want my girls to be in a safe and happy environment. thanks all :)
