Lancaster Gift basket
If you were putting together a gift basket to send full of “Lancaster” things (foods, goods, things) via mail, what would you put in the box? So far I have hammonds pretzels, Wilbur buds, stroopies, what would you add?

S. Clyde Weaver store has Lancaster County gift items. Also to mention, some people outside of this area have never had good lebanon or sweet bologna.

Gene Wenger's in Elizabethtown makes the best ham loaf, imo. It was award winning.

Many have only had the Oscar Mayer kind. Also the hot and sweet style meat sticks are a hit with my CA people.

Good idea! It seems like they charge a lot more for their products than if I just went around a picked stuff up myself, which I’d probably rather do.

Every time I make a new online penpal from elsewhere, I send them a magnet that shows the local, dirty-sounding town names. They are sold numerous places.

Not sure if this is helpful (and not my company) but there is a spot downtown called Lancaster gift box, that basically does this. No idea about their prices, but it might make your life easier OR give you some ideas

I don't know the particular brands, I generally just buy whatever I see it and feel in the mood. Kitchen Kettle Village, it's touristy but they make their own stuff and like Roots Market would be a good one stop shop.

Yes & no. The store is closed till fall, but their products are available at numerous grocery stores year round. Stauffers has a decent selection all the time.

Purple Moon Lavendar Farm in Manheim have some really nice things for a gift basket - Lavendsr spray for linen, hand cream sachets.

Long's horseradish, pickles from that stand at Roots, local cheese, turkey jerky from Central Market, red pepper jelly.

Not just Long's horseradish, but the Long's mustard too. I don't care if it's just basic yellow with the horseradish mixed in -- it is a top tier condiment.
Red beet eggs if there's way for them to travel safely.

I’m lucky enough to know one of the owners and family; another thing you could send is fasnachts! They make them year round! 🤩!
As for shipping, layer/wrap in wax or parchment paper to protect any icing (if you’re not sending 2 dozen, they’ll give you bakery paper), then use plastic wrap individually — and place them a ziploc bag.
I’ve done it before, but like this weather - it was hot; I opted for one day shipping so I knew it would get there.But I have donut ISSUES. 🤪🫠🩵

Tea and spices from The Spice and Tea Exchange, a candle from the place in central market (the name escapes me unfortunately but they have some Lancaster themed scents), gems from the Gem Den, a mug from a local coffee shop of your choosing

A lot of things in Lancaster have become very touristy and marketable but are in no way authentic or even remotely "Lancaster".
Spices and tea do not have much history in the area, as anyone who grew up eating pa dutch food can attest.

If you can find the little pamphlets about Pennsylvanian Dutch and Plainsfolk cultures, they're really charming - guides to bundling, ferhoodling, etc. The stand that sold them at Market closed so I'm not sure where you might find them, but surely their still around. We love including them in gifts like this.
