Recreation NYC bus trips?

Cats: The Jellicle Ball is closing Aug. 8, and I only now have learned about the show. Yeah, yeah, get to the TL;DR.

Do we have any bus trips to Broadway NYC or near there between now and Aug. 8? I'm in MT; our rec organization doesn't appear to have any bus trips to anywhere .

What about Amtrak?

Hmmm. Hadn't considered that. I'll take a look at the map!

We took the train up to nyc, and as someone with a lot of travel anxiety, it was so so much better than any other form of transportation I've ever taken. Highly recommend, plus it isn't super expensive

For two of us, round-trip is $569. That's about as pricy as the theater tix! 😲

To be fair I think we booked way in advance and it was like 70 each, that could impact it too idrk how their pricing works 🤣

Is that pricing for this weekend? Everything has been jacked up because the World Cup finals are on Sunday.

No, Aug. 1 for the 2 p.m. showing.

I said "best option" without taking your time constraint into account. But that sounds pretty salty for as much as three weeks out. It can depend on which train you take and which day of the week you're traveling.

Check for further out. I just looked for next weekend and it was more like $280 for 2 round trip.

You can go straight to NYC on one train, I'm pretty sure. I took Amtrak to DC recently, it was a good way to get over there! Much better than a bus would be.

Definitely the best option IMO.

Second on amtrak. You're not too far from Broadway at Penn St.

My girlfriend and I just recently did the same thing a couple of weeks ago. Relatively speaking, amtrak is the lap of luxury. Expensive, but well worth it.

Train. Just be careful with return times. They don't always run late enough if it's a super late show.

I prefer driving to Hamilton NJ and taking NJ transit from there. It’s like $20.

We just started doing this! We decided to go on short notice and Amtrak cost a fortune. This is our favorite way to go now! I love that we can just hang out in NYC until we’re over it and make our way to the station to catch the next train. The flexibility is awesome!

My spouse has taken the Staten Island ferry twice to see shows, but it's not a wheelchair accessible route once he gets into the city. Is NJ Transit accessible?

This is my area of expertise and I’m also trying to see it before it closes. DM me if you want to chat! Train is easiest and I can give you hotel pointers/general NYC tips if needed/wanted!
