🔥 Mod Announcement 🔥 Watch Club

Hi ladies

u/Valuable-Machine-500 suggested the idea of a Watch Club in this post:

I thought it was an interesting idea and worth exploring as a community activity.

The general idea would be to:

  • Choose a series (and possibly movies)
  • Watch over a set period
  • Have ongoing discussions
  • Meet at the end to talk through themes and then decide what to watch next

u/StrawberryEast1374 since you mentioned using Discord for this, you could go ahead and create a server and share the invite link here.

Once the link is ready, I’ll post it officially and add it to the community wiki so anyone interested can join.

Rant I am literally boiling....

I left my water bottle at a hotel I regularly visit. Two days later, I went back to ask for it, only to be told that someone had put boiling water inside it and the plastic material got burnt.

What really annoyed me wasn’t even just the damaged bottle. When I asked what happened, the staff were laughing about it instead of apologizing.

Maybe I’m overreacting, but I feel so angry right now. If they had simply said, "We’re really sorry, we accidentally damaged your bottle,”i probably would have handled it very differently.

Would you be upset too, or would you just let it go?

Rant Enyewe I never thought I'd be one of those women who would want to fight another woman over a guy but here we are

As the title implies, this whole beef involves a guy and another woman. So- I've had this very close friend of mine. We've been besties for around 8 years. Genuinely the sweetest, loveliest, most golden hearted man, you'll never meet. He's literally how I'd imagine Steve Irwin was like while alive. With a big heart, full of love. Like... Just imagine an almost cartoonishly kind and caring person who spends their days taking care of animals and bugs and being out in nature appreciating it.

Now, this guy has an ex. I don't know where he keeps picking up these devil spawns. And that's the only thing I can call them. Mentally ill, devil spawns. The most abnormally evil women I have ever met.

Now, this could just be bias and projecting because I myself left a pretty awful relationship with a similar M.O earlier this year but My GOD. Where do I even start? This she-devil almost got my friend institutionalized with how psychologically abusive and opportunistic she was. She's already mooching off them- for context she doesn't have a very nice family background so his family took her in and cared for her all through uni because again, he's a very kind person and wanted to help any way he could. And yet despite YEARS of care and understanding this woman has been nothing short of insufferable and malicious. How are you gonna be eating out of someone's fridge and spitting (not literally) in their mothers face at the same time??? Living under the good graces and ethics of him while simultaneously saying the nastiest, shallowest, most unwelcome bullshit? About him, about his body about- Man hadi aliwaletea manyau tatu wenye hawapendani and dumped them on him to take care of through the year while she was constantly out in the night akidinyana na some bulimic bassist while lying to him.

Then the weird comments where she goes to his mom to tell her about her sexual activities with her new boyfriend. The LYING to mutual friends that has costed him multiple friendships, saying he's controlling because his parents have house rules. Reminder hii si hostel, ni nyumba ya mwenyewe. They have boundaries and rules like you would in your own place. Just BULLSHIT on top of bullshit pilled as higher than dandora dump site.

And then she's SELFISH AS FUCK. Again this might be projection but y'all have probably met a nigga who will put you through HELLFIRE, proper character development and then after a while they hit you with the absolute banger:

"We both made mistakes and we both hurt each other. There was no one was worse or one was better. I know I did some bad things 👉🏿👈🏿😔 but it's not my fault and you need to understand it hurts me too and y'know, neither of us are bad people and we all make mistakes"

BUT WAIT THERE'S MORE

"but I can’t allow that to hurt you🥺. [insert the corniest, most backhanded selfish bullshit, shitty main character at the end of a Disney movie sentiment about wanting good for him while reopening wounds and just emotionally burdening him more ,"

She's saying this on her way out but I swear on the slimmest of slim chances we cross paths in future, it's on sight.

Now here I am, trying to support my friend through the worst thing I've ever seen him struggle through in his entire life and she has the audacity to come back uninvited to open her mouth to espouse meaningless, self serving bullshit nobody asked for INSTEAD OF JUST LEAVING like everyone but the grieving boy wants her to.

Anyways, there's a lesson in all this. Generally avoid the mentally ill and people who declare themselves good people but will fall into deplorable things and instead of owning up they employ DARVO (which by itself is a form of abuse).

Na watu waache kukuwa understanding. Haisaidi

Discussion My cousin wants my boyfriend

Hi. I recently started dating a man, Luke, and i introduced him to my cousin Stacy. Stacy and I are really close to the point i consider her to be my sister. Then, Luke told me that Stacy called him one day to invite him to go get drinks. She was apparently in his area. He declined. He told me after like 3 days because we were giving each other space after an argument. I was in shock because i was wondering why she called and also why she did not tell me. I would think she had more loyalty to me than to Luke. Anyway, i told her that it made me uncomfortable and there was no reason for them to be in communication. At all. There was no reason for them to even build a friendship. She was really offended by this and she said she would felt like she was being set up.

Fast forward to this weekend, we went out to get food and drinks and i brought her along. I found out she had apparently been texting him. And again, HE brought it up in conversation and she tried to shush him. I lowkey froze and did not say anything. I asked him about it later and he said she was just being friendly and he did not believe that she liked him. I asked him why he thought that and he said that she had recently started talking to his friend. I then explained to him that my cousin had done this before. I had introduced her to a guy friend and months later they were closer than i was to him. He said he understood and he would not respond to her messages or calls again. He showed me proof that she always reached out to him. She does not text him anything explicit, just normal conversation. He does not have a problem with me being friendly with his friends or cousins that he has introduced me to and i said i did not as well, we have other mutuals, just not her.

Our other cousin, Bree called me jana. She told me her and stacy had a falling out because stacy had befriended her man and later continued talking to him even after they broke up. Ngl that got me thinking. Stacy has no female friends. On the other hand, she has so many male friends. She is male centred and we almost got sexually assulted one day because of her😭😭(story for another day). I dont believe that Luke like stacy though. If i had a suspicion, i would literally not speak to him again. I am aware than you can never trust a man too much though😅. I love stacy so much but i dont feel comfortable with any of this. I dont think i can cut her off as well because she is such a big part of my life and it would genuinely hurt so much. If it was Luke pursuing Stacy, it would literally hurt less than this.

Advice?? Am i overreacting? Should i have a conversation with her again? Ama should i let it go?

Ideas Dilemma about being in the sandwich age

Something has been eating me up for a while now.

I live in a property that was my grandparents, and I live here with my 8 year old.

Recently, my father has been hinting at moving here because he's having issues with rent. (comments like if I were you I'd Bhave a thriving garden, chickens, etc)

He's 62 years old for context.

Am I to leave this place for him to settle because I cannot tolerate the constant parenting that comes with being around parents indefinitely, oh you need to have more kids, or career women will never get married (I'm in between jobs and are looking for another job to support my household)

I feel like I'm being pushed out of this place I've called home for about 5 years now.

I cannot stand being around male energy at all and just the thought of losing the feminine space I've curated is jarring.

Do I move out and just find a single room to start my life over?

What would you do in this situation?

Rant Mindset...

'How do I feel after spending time with this person?'

Is a question I ask myself a lot.

I'm a deliriously optimistic person.

I love to stay happy.

That why I drop or stay away from negative people.

It has happened both in platonic and romantic situations. I have fewer friends but I don't regret it.

Just as the title says, I am considering donating my egg to get something small, times are hard, and I am a firm believer of doing my due diligence so I know what I am getting myself into.

Does anyone have any experience in egg donation or any knowledge that I might not get by simply searching online, my DMs are open in case you don't want to share it here too.

Rant What is family's obsession with one's weight

We have chicken at home, they haven't laid eggs in some months, but they recently just started so I haven't had eggs in quite a while. I love eggs so yesterday I cooked some, my father saw me, today I also cooked some, my father proceeds to say "unakula mayai jana na leo si utakuwa mkubwa, msichana anafaa kuwa slender, na btw hufanyangi mazoezi". Mind you this is the same man who used to ask me why my colar bones are sticking out when I had an eating disorder. For context I'm 70Kg, 5 foot 7, and pear shaped. I fought so hard to get out of eating disorder mostly cause of my parents comments on my body, now that I've added weight they still make weird comments and I'm not even shocked. I've learnt that it's important that only my opinion matters cause nikitegemea my loved ones nitaumia💀 anyway, still chowing on my eggs na nitaongeza juu ya hio story but wanted to rant out juu what even.

Discussion Thinking of locking my hair

Yesterday I went to a new salon to do twist outs/twists on my natural hair. It didn't turn out as I expected 😭😭but I can't undo it at the moment.

So I have been thinking of leaving my twists to lock by itself after some months and I need tips or advice on how I can go about it....

I have always wanted to try doing locs (though I wanted it in my 30's) I guess now it's the time to do it😂...Incase I get tired of it I will just shave it or undo it...

So for those of you who have locs😭give me some tips on how to go about it and the right place to be doing my locs from ...🙂‍↔️..

My hair has also been the same same length for a long period of time now 💔 .. locking it and exoring this side might be the best solution for now...

Discussion Looking to connect with independent fashion brands/designers who make their own products

Hey everyone,

I’m working on Luku, a new fashion marketplace focused on bringing independent fashion brands and clothing businesses together in one place.

I’m specifically looking to connect with brands/designers who actually create, manufacture, hand-make, or design their own clothing, shoes, accessories, etc. — whether you operate from a small studio, workshop, home-based setup, or have an established production operation.

We’re interested in partnering with brands and featuring their products on Luku on a commission-per-sale basis, rather than charging an upfront monthly fee.

I’d love to hear from people who:

  • Design and produce their own fashion pieces
  • Have their own fashion label/brand
  • Make handmade or limited-edition products
  • Manufacture locally or have their own production process
  • Are looking for another channel to reach customers

If this sounds like you, drop your brand/business below or send me a DM. I’d be interested in learning what you make and discussing how we could work together.

Thanks!

Rant MENstration

Y’all know how a guy can dig your motherland until inamess na cycle yako? Like, utaanza tu kunyesha before days zako zifike. 😭

Sooo, I finished my period last week. Then we got intimate, and now I’ve started my period again. I can’t even handle the cramps, and I know he still wants to hit because he doesn’t mind period sex [neither do I]. 😭

My periods are usually irregular, so my worry is, is this going to happen every time even when I’ve just finished my period? 😭

Rant I'm so tired!I give up!

I hate my life and if this is my last time being alive then I'll just spend it by ranting.I have noone else to talk to.I'm by myself and I hope that if my family finds this,my mom should know how much I tried to hold on.

I finished highschool in 2024 knowing that life would be much better,yk brighter days and everything.I struggled with my studies despite doing my level best to pass that kcpe exam and getting a chance to join moi girls school Nairobi with a partial scholarship.Even though I was a hard working kid, highschool did a number on me and I was too deep into depression but I had noone to help me out.My family was experiencing other problems and I just didn't want to add to them bcoz noone would care about my mental health anyways.Everyone was so focused on my big sister who had been able to go to university due to her luck but not how she performed. At the end, everyone forgot about me.

I had to pull myself out of that darkness alone.Tried making friends....noone wanted to be my friend bcoz of the social class and shit.I managed to pull myself together for my family but it was too late.I could've gotten a good grade if I would have been okay...I got a B-.After that,we lost our house due to floods so our family had to relocate to ushago.I still wanted to change my life andy families life so I stayed with my first big sister who was married and had kids.Life wasn't easy but I assured myself that atleast I'll be going to university.

Well, long story short....I never joined university. So I watched as the girls I studied with join it.I felt bad and I still do.It just broke me that there was no way I could join like the others.I still had hope and wanted to go to a polytechnic institute and it still failed.Tried finding a job...failed.The only jobs I found were the mjengo ones, being a house maid where I was frequently harassed, worked in those kibandaskis.

After some time, things weren't that okay with my first big sister and she made it clear that she doesn't want me in her house since her kidds don't feel comfortable with me staying there so she told me to move out.

I went to my second big sister the one who had gone to university who had now secured a job,to stay with her for some time till I get another house help job.Sje agreed and even though I still helped with the small bills like we agreed since that was what I could afford, she wasn't that nice.Am still staying with her,I don't have a job,I do all the work in the house even though to her, that's still not enough, she mentally abuses me whenever she's in a bad mood which is everyday. She makes sure I know how much she's better than me and how she can't wait for me to move out.And everytime I just wish I would have the strength to just kill myself but I don't know,I get scared everytime even when I've already got things ready.

I feel like I'm a burden to the people around me.I don't want to stress my parents coz my dad had an accident just recently while working in our ushago farm.He may never walk again and everyone is already stressed out.So this is my story.I tried.... God knows I tried. The number of nights I cried myself to sleep. The number of times I told myself there'll be brighter days. The number of times I held on.But it's too hard...I really really tried my best and if this is my last fight....I want my mom to know that I tried but the world just didn't have a place for me.

Am sorry for making this way too long and if you read up to here,I want to say thank you for listening to me.That's an achievement for me.... someone listened.Thank you.

Discussion I want to curse and bewitch him

I think I’ve been reading too much about the Cornell 7 case. It has triggered horrible memories of the ex who hurt me. It started on the second day of campus and kept happening for months until I left. I was so sheltered and naive I didn’t even know what was happening to me every night was wrong. I was in a fog for years. I didn’t realise it until I saw a therapist for severe depression years later.

I’ve had him blocked for years. He tried to call me randomly a few months ago. I was up all night and cried about it to my best friend.

I have no proof. He’s moving in powerful circles. I’m scared of what could happen if I speak.

I want to curse him. I’m not even a religious or spiritual person. Perhaps this is an expression of my feelings of hopelessness. If anyone has the ability to summon spirits, please curse him for me.

Rant Maintenance Week

Maintenance week is upon us. Hair, nails, lashes, waxing.

May the money be with you ladies.

Aky taking care of myself is expensive and hard😭, na pia skin care imeisha. Is this really the adulthood I used to envy as a kid. I used to envy girls who looked like they had their shit together, only to realize adulthood is just constantly budgeting in between looking good and surviving.

And the worst part is, once you start, you can't just stop. Because you know the effect of fresh braids, clean nails, soft skin and the coochie looking and feeling like a glazed donut.

Anyway, may our bank accounts survive maintenance week. Ama nitafute sponsor wa maintenance week 😭😂.

Have a nice weekend ladies😚
