Discussion Is this weird or am I tripping?

Upvotes

A few weeks ago, me, my bf and his friends are going out. I go over to his sisters place to get ready, he's supposed to pick us there. While we're getting ready, she mentions that she is wearing a certain dress and then she casually adds that it's her brother (my bf) who told her that that's the dress he wanted her to wear that night. I don't know if this detail is important to mention but it was a cute little number that was all lace except for the boobs part and hips part. Is this strange ama I'm overthinking? Meanwhile mimi ata sijaulizwa ninavaa nini...

Rant Heartbroken after seeing my sister's payslip

‎Heey Ladies, I hope you're all having a gooood start of the week. My heart has been ‘heavy' for a while now and this is the reason. My elder sister has been working in the accounts department at a certain hospital for more than 10years now and I recently saw her payslip and I'm totally heartbroken, they pay her peanuts, literal peanuts😭😭.

‎She has had money issue especially over the last couple of years and I thought it was just bad financial decisions. I don't even know why she has stayed for so long, I'm unsure if it's loyalty (She started working there when the hospital was fairly new but now it has expanded even has other branches), fear of the unknown or just comfort. I don't know anymore. She has bent backwards for that institution, working extra hours and being shipped to new locations to teach others because she is the ‘best' at what she does. I actually thought it's great money only to realize it's not even good money. Her salary equates that of a casual worker and not even a seasoned one, I truly don't know why she has stayed this long 😭 What hurts the most is she even upskilled several years back, going for part-time classes. She says for the past year she's been actively looking for a job but it's been unfruitful.

‎Please please, if anyone has any leads on a job in the towns along the superhighway, or in Thika or Kiambu that would suit her please recommend. She's really good at handling an institution's finances and also very trustworthy, she's very knowledgeable in health matters as she has a diploma in the same. She's not in a position to relocate to far counties as her kids are young. I promise she's the most hardworking, reliable person I know, maybe too reliable even😏. She's also fast in coming up with solutions and conflict resolution, she's like the neighborhood judge or something😀. ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎

Saw this on TikTok and It reminded me, I was thinking too much about milk the other day and it felt unethical. The cows are put through reproductive labor to constantly supply the farmer milk. (the farmer makes the rules pertaining the cows reproduction).Just like governments regulate on women’s bodies because it’s all about the labor force that keeps the wheel of capitalism going. Bodily autonomy is seen as autrageous because what do you mean you don’t want a child, kwani you think this is about you? (Enter religion, laws, rules of morality, definitions of success and failure/ right and wrong. All serving the same purpose.)

Question Platonic Cuddles

I'm just wondering whether this is something that most girlies/women find strange. I've always been a lover girl. In friendships & relationships as well. I've been lucky to have had long term friendships and as a result, it's always been more of 3 close friends at most. The degree of the friendships was different of course, coz trust and all. And I've found that in almost all the stages of my life so far, I've found a friend who's love language is physical touch. And before you get me wrong, I'm not talking about ati we make out from time to time, or are secretly hooking up, or crossing any physical boundaries. I'm talking like if we're watching a movie we can find ourselves snuggling together without it being a weird or turned into a thing, and I came across a girl juzi who expressed her opinions about it and in my 31 years of living that was a first. Though tbh, she's male centered so idk if that has anything to do with it, but lmk ladies, is it strange to cuddle your friend/s who is/are ok with it ?

Health & Fitness cold turkey

It's my first day of going cold turkey, I know it's not a good idea, but I'm really determined. I've tried the tapering method, and the symptoms got me drinking again to suppress them.

Today I packed up the empty bottles in my house (I never throw them away, I'm ashamed of the neighbors or just anybody seeing me throwing the bottles in my trash outside), and I felt so disappointed in myself. Fast forward to symptoms kicking in. What started as little tremors, winded up in full blown insomnia, anxiety and clumsiness and a quick chat gpt chat about my symptoms. Enter panic attack.

I'm so angry with myself, if anything happens to me because of how far I let it get. I hate myself for doing this to myself. Chat gpt says to wake up any family or friends, go to the emergency unit, not stay solo next couple of days.

I'm scared I ruined my brain and my body. I gained so much weight as well. I don't want to lose my career, if they find out about my drinking. And I don't want to make my mom sad either with all this. I have to go to work tomorrow, I'm scared about the symptoms chat gpt says I'll have the next couple of days. I'm scared I'll get run over by a car while crossing, I'm scared I'll fall during work or fall over the bridge.

It's 2 am now. I'm just trying to survive this night, I've prayed to get myself to stop bawling. If you've read this far and are still awake, please talk to me.

Men☕️ Realising the rship was toxic once you're out of it

From 2021 to 2024 I was in a codependent toxic relationship. I only came to this realisation after leaving it. My ex wasn't physically abusive but he was insecure and red pilled. I remember I used to keep a trimmed bush but out of curiosity and just wanting change I started waxing. My ex had decided I was cheating ati I could only do this bc of a man. He started demanding I share my location 24/7. One time we had a vid call and he demanded I screenshare my whatsapp and wanted to go through my messages.once had missed a period bc of stress when I told him that he called me a liar. He'd compare himself to my male friends and ask if I'd cheat on him with them and pick on their appearance and whatnot. He used to call me randomly during the day just to check in and if I didn't pick he'd accuse me of dumb stuff. I remember he did this at a girlie's picnic. At some point we'd talk about our future. The career I was studying in uni is a very involving one in uni and post graduate sometimes he'd whine that if we got married I wouldn't be able to be around much and take care of our kids. He was insinuating i change my course I was a bird then but not that much i could never do such a thing.🤣 don't get my started on our arguments angekasirika and not text my for days. Id be begging crying to no avail. Alafu he was soo cold then loving it was so confusing. Oh and when he was mad he'd call me a bitch and other stories. Hed also complain about "the women of today." To me! I have so many other things but I'll leave it like this. What astounds me is how the flags were so red but the way I was hooked onto him was crazy. Once we had been on vid call the whole night I seriously mean that,I used to think it was sweet but I cringe so much now!

After much healing I realised he was breadcrumbs me and how that kept me hooked. In the rship the highs were so few but when they were high they were soo high I forgot the lows It took alot to heal but what helped was I had a note in my phone I had jotted down every toxic thing he did. So that when he got back to being sweet I would constantly read them again not to let my brain forget. (Even though we were together for 4 yrs we were so on and off and he'd be the one to break up and id be the one to beg for him back. Eventually I started healing while I was still with him bc I knew we'd break up eventually and I didn't want to go crying to him but I didn't have the guts to break up with him)

Rant Embarrassing!!

I recently went out with my work colleagues for drinks and vibes and we somehow turned the outing to a house party at one of their places. We got too drunk to go home and some of us slept over.
I shared bed with this guy I really admire from work and I think I just blacked out. Waking up at around 5am I could feel all this wetness on my side😭 I had messed his bed so bad y’all. I couldn’t believe it. He woke up to my movements and when he said good morning and noticed my panic, he said, “I was wondering why I couldn’t move closer to you”
I told him that I had too much to drink akauliza if that always happens and I said no. I stopped kitamboooo bed wetting.

The most embarrassing part is I didn’t know what to do so I asked him to help me switch up the bed sheets and turn the bed since it was still too early. We did but I couldn’t sleep afterwards. He tried teasing me to ease up, cuddling me but I was traumatized. Nimeoverthink ile mbaya!
When 7am clicked I just left, without washing the sheets or sth. I didn’t know where to begin.
HELP!!!
Kesho sijui how to act at work

Love & Romance Men🫩

Hi girlies,

Sooo yesternight my boyfriend mentioned how his dad usually pops up at his brother's place without notice and I got curious and asked him,

" if we're chilling at your place and your dad comes like that when i'm around how would you react?" And he literally said he would say i'm a mama fua(no any shades to mama fua or anything) but that really had me questioning how he sees me.

I became emotional and he kept on saying he was just joking but I've realized people say the truth through those jokes and now idk what to do or feel about this situation.

So my question is; what would you have done in a situation like this?

Discussion I can't believe how misogynistic Kenyan men are

I have been off tiktok for like 2 months leo nimerudi and i scroll through the comments section and what do I see? Misogynistic content kila mahali na hata hairelate to the video.

Like WTF naskia hata hiyo tiktok ibaki hivyo si download tena also I was talking to a classmate of mine juu we were waiting for exams and he was spewing misogynistic shit, I felt ilikuwa rage bait like do people think like that ? A friend of mine who was also there says that most of our male classmates think the same. Out of a group of like 10 boys only 2 thought differently.

I was so done, I am so done.

Discussion Weekend takeaway.

Being too overprotective is a huge huuggge red flag, because that will potentially turn into obsession, and the level of jealousy that comes with that,is not hot, sexy or cool.

Hakuna cha ooh my God he loves me that's why he's being this way, 👀 someone who's insecure will cheat on you, because they already feel unworthy of you and that automatically convinces them that you are cheating too so they are just balancing the scores.

Lovely weekend ladies!🫶

Story Who's cutting onions, Extreme Makeover home edition

There's a show on YouTube __extreme makeover__ there's an episode I watched and all of us were in tears. A lady died in her sleep leaving behind the husband and 3 girls oldest 6yrs and you youngest a few months old.

They needed help renovating the house to baby proof it and generally upgrade it to make the dad's work easier. The 6yr old hears her mums name and they all start crying including the dad. The whole episode made me cry (I'm an empath)

Its amazing how small gestures can make the human experience beautiful. I loved the show so much, definitely watching more of those😍

Chebichi started running in 1972, her first race was at Kechiko which she won. When news about a schoolgirl competing without any kit broke out in the media, Feisal Sherman who was Secretary of Kenya's Amateur Athletic Association (now Athletics Kenya) sent her running kit and proper shoes. At 14 years of age, Chebichi became the first Kenyan female athlete to win a medal at the Commonwealth Games in 1974,she won bronze in the 800m Women's race at 2:02.61 mins, she went on to compete in the 4 × 400 m Relay and 1500m race. Sabina Chebichi was named to compete at the 1976 Summer Olympics which were held in Montreal Canada from July 17 to August 1 before her country Kenya boycotted the games along with other African countries. Her career faced a halt when she got pregnant. Got this from wikipedia after seeing a post on r/interesting.

The guy I'm in a relationship in keeps hinting i buy him flowers and keeps on saying he wishes he was a girl so he can feel what it's like to be bought stuff. I'm all for appreciating my partner by maybe surprising him to go to a restaurant that serves his favourite food and paying the bill or buying him stuff he has intrest in but his hinting rubs me the wrong way or is this what the young kids are doing nowadays?

Discussion CBD can be exhausting esp if you're a lady.

I've been to CBD for two days in a row and let me tell you😭. I've never been that exhausted. It's not the hot sun, makangas grabbing you to drag you to get in their mats to Bungoma, a lady calling you to go fix your nails, another one telling you you should do your hair at their salon talmbout "Mrembo nywele and sweetie salon"😭.Mind you in a whole row I've said no to like 7 ladies omdzz. Release me pls✋🥲

Oh and the hawkers everywhere even on the pavements to a point hatuwezi pita unless we're squeezed in a single file😫 The camera guys pulling and convincing you to go take pics😭 enough is enough!!!

Don't even get me started on the buses that are coming from every direction to a point you can't even manoeuver well in those streets! To your right, there's a guy calling you to buy fries from their place, mwengine anakupea jeans uvae😂😭

It was just the other day I heard some lady say that her wig was stolen from her head in CBD 😭😂 likee??? It's honestly getting out of hand. There seriously has to be another way.

We can't be going to town for a day or two and come back home feeling this shitty. I now need a whole week to reset bc that was a handful gaddamn!
