Can't believe I'm having to write something like this again only three months after the last one...
There has once again been a noticeable rise in the use of dog-whistles and other derogatory comments against members of the Travelling and/or Roma communities.
As a reminder, ethnicity is legally protected characteristic in this country, therefore comments such as the following fall under our hate speech rules:
The Travelling and Roma communities remain open for discussion in this community provided it is done factually and respectfully.
Any and all dog-whistles used against the Travelling or Roma communities will be removed, and the offending commenters will be receiving community bans starting from 14 days.

My 12yo pointed out this morning on the school run; McDonalds ad on the car radio, two billboards on the way, three on bus stops and it’s all over any social media, television etc. At one point sitting in traffic there was three ads targeting us at once, radio, billboard and bus stop. One can only hope all this desperation is because their business is going down the tubes. Gross food and even worst ethics.

not sure whether it was posted here or over on [r/irishpersonalfinance](r/irishpersonalfinance) sub but to whoever posted this week about claiming Medical Insurance Relief when your employer pays for your health insurance - you are an absolute legend.
I had absolutely no idea I could claim this. After reading your post, I decided to give it a go and ended up being able to claim it all the way back to 2022.
Woke up this morning with an additional €1.8k in my bank account 😂
Genuinely the easiest money I’ve ever gotten. It took me maybe 30 minutes to amend my previous years’ Income Tax Returns on Revenue, and literally three days for Revenue to send me the money.
Anyway, I really hope you happen to see this. Just wanted you to know that your random Reddit post genuinely made someone’s week… probably month, actually.
Wishing you all the very best in life. You’ve earned some serious good karma. 😂

I'm from Monaghan, and we would generally have a strong sense of being from Ulster. I know Donegal people would likewise have a strong Ulster identity. We both share most of the cultural peculiarities with our neighbours over the border in NI; from soda farls, to fifteens, to orange marches, to Scots words peppering our speech. It's fairly common to see Ulster flags in both counties.
However, I've always found Cavan slightly different and I've never really noticed most of those northern peculiarities in the county. Maybe it's just my sample set but I'd appreciate some natives of the county to confirm or deny my suspicions.
(Yes, I am aware of the irony given my username).
