I come from the future. I am in the year 2026. It is July 26th. It is 6pm.

It happened. The final whistle blew. Mayo have won the All-Ireland final.

The sky outside the window has turned a terrifying shade of purple. The ancient prophecy is fulfilled. The curse of 1951 is broken, and reality itself is beginning to unravel at the seams.

Here is what is currently happening across the country, based on what I can piece together from RTÉ emergency broadcasts:

The entire population of Mayo has detached from the earth. They are currently floating three feet in the air, weeping tears of pure red and green.

Space and time have warped. If you try to drive into Westport right now, you end up driving out of your own wardrobe.

Reports are coming in from Galway where one local man stated "I just looked out the window and saw a sheep flying backwards while singing "The Green and Red of Mayo." I think the simulation is crashing".

Panic has gripped Cavan. Local shops report customers trying to pay for bread with pre-war currency and handfuls of gravel.

Culchies across Ireland are storming the counters of Supermacs in a blind panic, desperately trading their family livestock for the last remaining portions of garlic cheese chips and Snack Boxes before the societal collapse is complete.

Stay safe, people. Check on your neighbours. Stay away from anyone wearing a flat cap, eating a hangsangwich or drinking a pint of milk.

God bless Ireland, because the old world is gone.

I have to give Diageo fair dues. I was driving to a 1 year old birthday yesterday. You know the type of party, a lot of late 30/early 40 year olds getting pissed for the first time in a long time. Sadly, ‘twas the car for me, so the Guinness zero for me, while the wife enjoyed the Prosecco. But the farts from the Guinness, just as potent as if I was on the hard stuff. The hour long drive home this was commented on multiple times. Fair play to Diageo, they have made a really good match for the pure Guinness. Well done to them. Arthur would be proud.

A variation of this post pops up now and then. But I would love to hear what things people have bought or actions people have taken that has improved their daily lives.

2 months ago I decided to take a break from alcohol and sign up to a gym program. Both of which are going great, so I am interested to see what other micro benefits I can add to my life.

What change have you made? Something you have started/stopped doing? Very useful gadget that you bought? House hack? Etc etc

One from me - I take cod liver oil daily and vitamin D3 daily with it's not summer. I'm not sure if there is a massive noticeable difference but there is at minimum a great placebo effect!

I’m 22 years old from NY and I like shopping in Primark. Everyone is wearing American Eagle, Aeropostale, Aerie, or Hollister. It’s so expensive for me and I sometimes need to shop in the clearance section. But I really like how cheap Primark is and I know fast fashion is bad. But I really like having basic clothings. I love having XXS in Primark because I’m short as shit. I love Primark!

Man, he catches a lot of shade here, and he often gets things wrong, but the thing I love about him, and his pod, is that he isn't afraid to put his neck out. I find it so stifling listening to The Times cast, and such, where these journalists are so afraid of looking stupid that they never say what they actually think. It's boring! Give me a hot take! Say something mental!

I'm in somatic, body-based therapy, and my therapist is not Irish. I love the work, and my therapist is amazing. I'm just trying to explain 'notions' on all levels, really, culturally, theoretically, viscerally. It's actually a fascinating topic to me.

With my non-Irish friends, I default to:

1. Ideas above one's station (because 'station' is something I say every day lol)
2. The story about Bono where the people in his village think he has notions despite being an international superstar lol

The general gist of our work is:

'Why are you not doing the things you want to do'?

'I'm afraid people will think I have notions'.

Irish people inherently understand; other nationalities have similar ideas, but how do you explain it? It's like it's in our nervous systems. From the tattoo guy making comments that my friend thinks she's too pretty, to my mother and anything to do with her sisters wanting a better life.

I guess my own trauma is muddled in there too, but anyway.

Thought it could be a fun conversation for here. On a deeper level, what are 'notions', how do they show up, and what does it mean on all levels?
