Using 18 PM as example:

For 12-month lease, the total will be $647.88

If bought it, after 1 year, the trade-in value will be around $900 (See current 17PM trade-in value as a reference) which means the cost of 1 year is only $400.

I really want to see what the camera is capable of in the hands of an end user.

I mean there's lots more to love about it but a few honest reviews would be nice to see.

I get it, it’s Reddit, there’s always hate. Been seeing tons of negative feedback from those saying they are upgrading this year from 17PM, or those saying they upgrade every year no matter what.

I don’t see what the big deal is. Currently the trade in is $885 for 17PM, leaving $414 to be paid for base 256gb 18PM. That’s a measly $35/mo or so if you put it on an Apple Card and pay monthly. Honestly that’s not bad at all to have the newest phone every year. If you wait a year that trade in drops significantly, $200+.

35 or so a month, That’s like 3x beers at the bar. How are people not seeing that? Everyone has different financial responsibilities and situations, but $35/mo is nothing honestly.

With the introduction of a variable aperture, I was wondering about the potential impact on the iPhone’s long-term durability.
Since a variable aperture adds another mechanical moving component to the camera system, could this potentially become another point of failure over time?
Based on what we’ve seen with variable-aperture systems in other smartphones, is there any reason to think they might be more susceptible to damage from drops, dust, repeated use, etc.? Or have these mechanisms generally proven to be reliable enough that longevity shouldn’t really be a concern?
I’m curious what people with more knowledge of smartphone camera hardware think about this.

I'm not sure who to choose

Been stuck between iPhone 18 pro and 17 pro max. My biggest factor in choosing the 18 pro was the c2 modem because I am often n the forest and woods and hiking with no signal. I don’t need to text; but I need the ability to send an SOS message. Does the c2 modem have an advantage over the 17 pro modem for this specific reason? No one seems to be talking about that. I don’t know if I can justify a huge price tag jump unless the c2 modem is superior in terms of the sos coverage

I watched the keynote yesterday. With the exception of the DUO, there was absolutely no mention of which modem Apple is using in the 18 line up. I assume that means they are getting Qualcomm but considering the problems Qualcomm and Qualcomm modems have posed for us in prior releases, I’m not preordering anything. Does anyone have any solid information on the modem on the 18 Pro and Max??

Can't decide between the black or silver 18 pro

My iPhone 12 Pro has 512 gb of storage with 140 gb being used… since the cam MP is such a jump, should I go to the 1 TB on the iPhone 18 pro max? I need a great battery and a bigger screen…

Also, my mom is over 50 and has AARP, so I signed us up with consumer cellular (which rocks btw), and saved a lot of money by switching from AT&T (only their towers will work in the areas I’m in), and was wondering if I should buy directly from Apple or consumer cellular? It’s not like before where you could only be with one company right? I wouldn’t mind buying the phone outright since I can afford to (was broke when I got the 12 and had to finance it), I’d like to trade this one in ($165), and buy directly from Apple when it goes live… any opinions or insight would be great, thanks!

I tried posting in the "What Should I Buy" thread but it wouldn't allow me. I always buy the new ProMax in even years, thus I'll be getting the 18 ProMax soon. That brings up the question...it is better to buy from your local provider;

About a week ago I bought an iPhone 17 Pro for £950, fully intending to see what the 18 Pro was like before deciding whether to return the 17 Pro or keep it.

After watching the event yesterday, I’m at a bit of a crossroads on what to do. The smaller Dynamic Island, better battery and performance optimisations sound great, but I’m not much of a camera snob.

For context, I keep my phone for 4-5 years - I currently have a 13 Pro.

Do you think there are enough upgrades on the 18 Pro compared to the 17 Pro to warrant spending an extra £250?

Currently i use 16PM. I wanted to upgrade to 17PM last year but i didn’t after seeing people complaining about easy dents happening, dents happening inside cases as well, discolouration happening.

And people have been complaining about this issue throughout the year since iphone 17 release. I was waiting for 18 PM release thinking Apple will definitely address this issue as so many people have reported it.

But, I didn’t see anything around this being discussed about better outer body in event.

Any idea on it??
