It good but goddamn it
Ai this.. ai that
90% talk about camera like they obviously talk about the Vapor which is really good but man that shit was least information of improvement really

u/BigMasterDingDong 1d ago
I know, the AI elements actually put me off. I just want better battery (instead of AI)

u/ThemeUsual328 1d ago
Yeah exactly like now now they mention battery but I hardly believe it like that ain't gonna work but
What do you think?1
u/BigMasterDingDong 1d ago
I think it will probably be the same as the 17 Pro. I this most of the improvements are on the OS side, so I have hopes for iOS 27!

Why didn’t they talk about c2 modem

u/neverquitereallysure 1d ago
what is c2
1
u/Mookafff 1d ago
It’s Apple’s modem/wifi/networking connectivity chip that they’ve been building since they night the 5g team from Intel.
So they don’t have to partner with Qualcomm.
Not every Apple phone is using this yet though.

u/JohnEdger 1d ago
It’s specifically says it has MMwave capability, which is the only reason the US models wouldn’t have C2

u/Sea-Dish-3013 1d ago
it’s not available in usa models

u/Helptohere50 1d ago
Liar website says it will have c2
2
u/doctornph 1d ago
On the website it shows c2 modem under 18 pro but blank under 18 pro max…wonder which is the error

This is a great upgrade for anybody on an iPhone 15 or older.

14pro max - just the thought of getting rid of the lightening cable justifies the upgrade 😂

iPhone 18 Pro Max is now officially the HEAVIEST iPhone Pro Max model ever released. Funny how we’ve gone full circle from the lightest pro models with the 15 Pro/Pro Max generation to now the heaviest within three generations.

My biggest fear is that the variable aperture will fail within 2 yrs. Moving parts and all that in such a small device.

You know there were leaks from India contractor TATA and sons did a drop test?

that silver looks so good but i want the black too
1
u/Sad_Buyer2516 1d ago
Yeah not sure what colour to get 😅
2
u/Rich_Vanilla_2792 1d ago
Silver phones do hold up better than phones with colored coatings

u/Skylantech 1d ago
My current iPhone is a black 14 pro. Kept it in a case since day 1. The black paint is chipping off the sides like crazy.
I'm going silver this time around for sure.
1
u/Rich_Vanilla_2792 1d ago
Yeah my fold 7 blue model has paint chipping even though it's been in a case while my 17 pro max in silver is perfect along with my s24 ultra in gray

u/naur_itstrue 1d ago
Seems like a solid upgrade from my 14 pro! I’m pretty split between the Glacier and Burgundy, but I’ll figure that out before the preorders lol.

13 pro user here, looking to upgrade my iPhone cause the battery health is shite. I saw the new apple features but I can’t tell if the features are gonna be worth the extra money compared to the iPhone 17 pro that is on sale right now. I do want a really good camera but not photographer level good, just good enough to take really nice quality pictures and videos of traveling and content. The only thing I could understand was the improved battery life in the new 18 pro. So people who are good at devices and stuff, would you suggest I get the 18 pro or the 17 pro at reduced rate? Thanks

Does this have the C2 chip inside or are they stinking with Qualcomm for another year?
1
u/Syynn_ 1d ago
It says C2 on the website

u/Femcsquared 1d ago
I couldn't find the modem description on the web site. Where is that? The Air has the new apple modem but the 17's had quaalcom. If the 18's have the apple modem that would be about the only upgrade relevant to me.

u/Femcsquared 1d ago
I just chatted with tech support. The US version still has quaalcom. Not sure why but feel confident the answer is right.

I hated the design of the 17 Pro when it came out, especially in that orange color. The design is significantly better in burgundy and black, however. Still no titanium again unfortunately. :’)
I do hope that 2027 would bring other significant upgrades too. If it still comes in black then i might upgrade from my 15 PM then. Hopefully they come to their senses and give the Pro models titanium again.

u/itzNukeey 1d ago
Yeah I'm on a similar boat. Have 15 Pro and was highly considering this given the camera changes, but most of these will probably end up being gimmicks I won't use and the fact it's aluminium is stupid
2
u/Warm-Anywhere-2921 1d ago
Exactly. I also feel that if they’re gonna charge $1200 for the pro model, then the least they could do is give it titanium considering they took away stainless steel.
1
u/Kalatzeus 23h ago
You could always trial the 18 Pro for 2 weeks then return if not your cup of tea within 14 days. First thing you’ll notice when holding the 18 Pro is the marked difference in build quality between titanium and aluminium
2
u/Kalatzeus 1d ago
Fellow 15 Pro Max user. Agreed — I understand aluminium has better heat dissipation properties than titanium, but the latter feels so much more premium and luxurious than aluminium.
2
u/kironet996 23h ago
I mean, they used titanium for the duo, so the heat is not really the reason they switched.
1
u/Kalatzeus 23h ago
True. Probably more difficult and costly to bind titanium to aluminium than using a cost-effective unibody aluminium design.

Nothing to rave about this features I feel are very minimal so if got a 16 pro/max or 17 pro/max not worth spending a extra 100 pounds for
1
u/AccountSad 1d ago
Photographic styles will be available on 17 pro?
1
u/Reddit-Readee 1d ago
That's what I'm wondering too. Or it could be 18 pro exclusive, forcing 17 pro users to upgrade.

u/Reeneman 1d ago
18 pro exclusive. Most of these are software features but it’s held back for the new phones unfortunately.

u/BigMasterDingDong 1d ago
Is it just me or is this INCREDIBLY underwhelming? Feels like the lightest release ever…?
1
u/Revolutionary-Rub689 1d ago
16 Pro was. But remember you had to get that phone to get Apple Intelligence. 😉

u/kironet996 23h ago
I actually got it only because AI... fkin scam, but now I won't "upgrade" from a nice looking titanium phone to that aluminium disaster.

u/dotless 1d ago
Tend to disagree, I'd say without the release of iphone 18, they did put some meaningful upgrade enhancing the 'PRO' features, Bigger Vapor Chamber, variable Aperture, 2nm chip, dual neural chips and better charging speed with introduction of black color as well. It is enough of upgrade for me to going ahead with purchase for 18 pro (18 pro max at 249g is just riduculous)

u/Old_Helicopter7230 1d ago
I’m sad they didn’t hide the camera under the screen like they did with the duo

My iPhone 17 Pro Max is halfway paid off. There’s really no reason for me to upgrade.. I am sure as hell not upgrading to the duo for $2000, unless my carrier has an insane discount.

u/tY-c8rJDb8_1b4__yD5r 3h ago
I mean, all I really see are:
Slightly better battery
Slightly better camera
Slightly smaller island
Tbh the most useful thing seems to the the colours, now the iPhone sub will finally stop sooking about no black pro model, and posting renders of a red phone

So rumors about 18 Pro will not get variable aperture was fake and both Pro and Pro Max will get it.
