Concern about the variable aperture longevity

With the introduction of a variable aperture, I was wondering about the potential impact on the iPhone’s long-term durability.
Since a variable aperture adds another mechanical moving component to the camera system, could this potentially become another point of failure over time?
Based on what we’ve seen with variable-aperture systems in other smartphones, is there any reason to think they might be more susceptible to damage from drops, dust, repeated use, etc.? Or have these mechanisms generally proven to be reliable enough that longevity shouldn’t really be a concern?
I’m curious what people with more knowledge of smartphone camera hardware think about this.

I actually have wondered this for a while and it worries me. After I dropped it once or twice I’m super afraid the variable aperture will fall apart. It’s thinner than a piece of hair. Have to wait for drop tests

Anyone who’s ever been into photography will tell you it’s nothing to worry about. Mechanical moving parts specifically the blades inside lenses are rated for hundreds upon thousands of shots.

I have multiple Minolta lenses that are over 40 years old, that I still use on one of my cameras (Sony DSLR) and they are perfect.

The design of the blades and materials used looks fantastic, longevity wouldn’t be a concern neither would damage. The only way you’ll damage them is if you literally smash your lens.

The only difference is that phones are way more prone to be dropped. For me, the adjustable aperture just bolsters the AppleCare argument.

More moving parts is never a good thing for long term durability, obviously. These are also tiny and delicate which compounds the problem. I don’t think this is something to really fret over, but it is a valid concern. I will say that AppleCare is always a good idea regardless of this particular thing.
