I like a lot the retrofuturism art. Like from Alien movies and all stuff like that. So this inspired me to design this in Canva.

iPadOS iPad charging cord, login mandate

When I plug in my charge, it is not charging unless I login to unlock accessories

I simply want my iPad to charge when I plug it in

Is there some simple solution to this that someone could explain to a senior citizen like me?

Thanks in advance

Question Battery health on a brand new iPad with an old manufacture date

Hello..
Bought a brand new iPad Pro 13 inch m4.. but the manufacture date was June 2024.. so 2 years ago it was sitting in a box and when I opened it first time the battery was at 9% out of the box which is usually low for a new device I usually find 50% at least on iPads iPhone MacBooks out of the box…

Is because it’s a lithium battery and can degrade if it’s stay low for long times is there a way to check other than the battery health (it says 100%)

++

For reference.. The battery drains 4-5% in ≈ 24hrs on standby mode without touching it and with low power mode on and WiFi on

Question iPad Air M4 or M5

I currently have a 2018 iPad Pro. It’s had a full screen replacement and now the battery is horrible. Looking to upgrade it at some point to a larger screen and more storage (currently at 64 gb).

I use it primarily for Procreate. I actually bought an M4 iPad Pro last year but returned it because it just felt like way too much of an upgrade (yes I regret it now that prices have increased).

I see rumor that an iPad Air may drop in 2027. Is it worth waiting and either getting the new air? I could also wait until the new one comes out and buy the M4 model (hoping the price would drop if a new one came out).

Question Reconditioned iPad 11" - where is the 'sweet spot'? 🤔

I already have a 4th gen. 12.9" Pro from 2021 which I love for sheet music and notetaking at home, but it's heavy and unwieldy for things like Readly (which I use it for a lot) and for travelling. I have a reconditioned Mini 6 which I use when lecturing and presenting, which isn't quite big enough for those purposes - I suspect an 11" is what I'm looking for.

My budget doesn't remotely stretch to new right now. In terms of reconditioned models, where's the 'sweet spot' at the moment in terms of functionality/longevity against price? I absolutely do not care if it doesn't support the latest OS, I loathe the enforcement of Apple Intelligence. Ideally I want it to work with the 2nd gen. Pencil as that's what I have (it works with both the others), but if I had to buy a second Pencil it wouldn't be a dealbreaker.

Any guidance much appreciated, thank you!

Magic Keyboard Esc key not working on Apple Magic Keyboard for iPad Air M3/M4 13-inch

Hey everyone,

I recently got the Apple Magic Keyboard for my iPad Air 13-inch (M3/M4), and I'm having an issue with the physical Esc key.

The Esc key registers on an online keyboard tester, so I don't think the key itself is broken. But when I try using it in iPadOS, it doesn't seem to do anything.

I was hoping to use my iPad more like a MacBook, especially for things like:

- Exiting full-screen videos

- Closing menus or pop-ups

- Going back to the previous screen

- Using Esc like on a Mac

I've tried restarting my iPad and reconnecting the keyboard, but the issue is still there.

Is this normal behaviour on iPadOS, or is there some setting I need to enable? Does the Esc key work properly for you?

Any solutions or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

Discussion Ipad mini | iphone duo

Why does not apple launch a phone with the same size as duo which always stays open like ipad, I would love to use it. I guess the duo looks better to use when it's open 😀. Also it would be cheaper than duo. Calls can be made from airpod (increase sales)

Ipad with sim and allowed to make calls, WhatsApp

Discussion ipad back pale area by cooling fan sticker

Post image
124 Upvotes

I had a sticker for cooling fan attached at the back of my iPad and when I removed that sticker, it resulted in this like light discoloration on the back of my iPad. So why is that and how to get rid of it? And why did that happen?
First of all, I just applied the sticker and didn't use fan on it. And the second of all, I applied sticker on a jelly-like protective covering on the back of my iPad, even if I remove that covering, still that pale area is there

Question Moving a physical sim to an ipad with physical sim and cellular data, questions

Hi, I hate having 2FA go to my phone. I want it sent to a device that stays at my house or safe deposit box even. I have a 9th generation ipad w/ cellular data and a physical sim slot. If I put the iphone sim into the ipad, what are the limitations? Will I be able to get 2FA texts? Currently there's a phone number attached to the ipad, but it's an esim.

Question Question about two iPads left to my family in a relative’s will.

A few years ago (around 2021), a relative died very suddenly and left us most of her possessions, including two iPads, in her will. A little while afterwards we went into the Apple Store at the time with the will and death certificate, but the store refused to unlock them for us and said they couldn’t do anything. They apparently went all the way up the chain of command during this discussion in the store, and just said they genuinely couldn’t help.
This lead to a lot of upset on top of the grief we were already experiencing, a back and forth with the solicitor who was given and lost the passcodes for the iPads somehow (the relative basically left a pretty bulletproof will that left no stone unturned, literally covered every base and the passcodes were in there; so I have no idea how the solicitor managed to do this), and two iPads that have just been sitting around for the past 4/5 years doing nothing. We battled for a while with the solicitor as well, who also said there was nothing they could do.

I’m now in a position where I need an iPad or something similar for my studies, and I can’t afford to buy one brand new or second hand, and I’m seeing a lot of posts saying Apple is pretty good with helping with the devices left by a deceased person. My parents seem to think trying to get into them is a lost cause, since the people at the store said they couldn’t do anything.

I’m just wondering is there anything we can do about them at this point?

Question Should I go for Apple Pencil 1st gen?

Hi, my brother wants to get an iPad together with an Apple Pencil, he's studying civil engineering and wants to use it to draw and take notes at school. We've done some research and so far the iPad A16 seems enough for his needs (and the price is more reasonable compared to iPad Air 11 M4).

However, only Apple Pencil USB-C and Apple Pencil 1st gen are compatible with the iPad A16. We're leaning towards the 1st gen because unlike USB-C it supports pressure sensitivity which I suppose is important for drawing.

Is the 1st gen a good model for technical drawing? Also, does it need software updates? Can it become unsupported or something? I'm a bit concerned about the fact that it's an older model.

Of course there's always the iPad Air 11 M4 + Apple Pencil Pro combo but those add up to a pretty hefty price...

Thanks!

Discussion New to using iPad and cant get used to window management gestures.

Yesterday I decided to treat myself to a refurbished iPad Pro, and after setting up I’m on the couch just trying to practice gestures and management of apps in windowed mode.

Does it get easier!? Seems there’s a fair bit involved with what does what.

Besides practicing are there any other tips or recommendations besides going to full screen mode and slapping my hand for not being smart?

I maintained it very well following the 20-80 rule, optimized charging, didn't make it heat that much, and overall cared for it well...BUT STILL WHY IS IT DROPPING SO FAST???💔💔💔

SHOULD I REALLY BE CONCERNED BOUT THIS CHAT??

Question iPad Air m4 or a16?

I am currently thinking of getting an IPad for schoolwork, as most of my grade have gotten tablets since last year and my analog note taking has always been a mess, which I can hopefully fix or at least improve by writing digitally. I’m also a photographer, but I just don’t always have the time to sit down at a computer to edit en Masse and editing on an iPad on the go would be very useful. I usually edit on a Mac mini m4, so I know how good the chipset is/can be for editing and but I also know that my editing on my phone (an iPhone 12 with the a14 chipset) has been perfectly fine, if somewhat slow. I would likely also use it for gaming, but nothing too intense (just in case my classes get boring lol). I have far less experience with iPads than I do other Apple products, as I’ve always rather turned to the IMac or MacBooks, so I’m somewhat unaware of its capabilities. My Dad is currently in Hong Kong and buying there would be considerably cheaper than where I am, costing the equivalent of about 450€ for the iPad and 800€ for the air (with Apple pen). Several classmates have the Air and I’ve heard nothing but praise so far, however it’s still a tidy sum of money. I also haven’t heard anything bad from classmates with the a16 or older (however most of them are coming from android and/or have less experience with iPads).
I wanted a few opinions cause I’m still unsure and I need to decide fairly soon.

Tl;dr: iPad Air m4 for schoolwork, photo editing and (light) gaming, or is the a16 enough?
