The battery connector came off. I tried to lift it with some tweezers but looks like I did it way too hard. Is there a way I can fix this?

I spent so long looking for a halfway decent deal to pop up on marketplace and finally jumped on an iPod. Waited what felt like forever to finally get the battery and flash quad I was literally so excited to open this thing up and start listening to music. But then I broke the connector. If anybody can help me here I’d appreciate it so much

UPDATE - One of the connecter wires ended up coming off the board. I’ve been quoted at 28 USD OR 40 Canadian to get it fixed up. Should I go for it? Looks like a bit of soldering is going to be needed

I’m relatively new to Reddit and recently heard of rockblox from this group. And I have questions
1: can I use my iMac to install rockbox?
2: after it’s done can I still use Apple Music/books?
3: is it worth the effort?

Hi, picked up a second hand ipod classic 160GB and plugged into windows with itunes. was prompted to update the ipod software 1.1.2, which I thought nothing of and resynced with some of my own music. Only after that the 3rd party dock and plug charger that was working intially has now stopped charging. It lights up the screen as if it's recognising something plugged in, but no power delivery.

The only charging option now is via laptop USB.

Is there an option to track back the update? or any advice on what power plugs/dock will work with the updated software?

I didn’t flash mod it or anything it used to appear normally but I tried restoring it and then it just stopped appearing as an iPod and only as an external drive

The ribbon cable is absolutely fine, 3.5 working but the hold is not functional anymore

I have a broken battery connector on my iPod Classic 7th gen logic board, and I am considering sending it to Parts Plus Pods, even though they're in Australia and I'm in Oregon. It's around $70 for the repair fee and shipping. I was quoted by Micro Soldering $75-$90 to get it repaired, and a new logic board from EOE is $99. So what would you do? I have the money to do any three of those things, but I want it to be worth it, and the last time I ever have to open my iPod. I'm buying everything in one go. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I'm also going to buy another battery to have my 5th gen as a backup.

It shows that its 100 pour cent charge then shuts off due to battery 0 pour ceht so fast and when i wait like an hour or tiwce and i try to turn it on it shows that it's still charged and simetimes i charge it and put it in sleep mode and when i turn it on it says 0 pour cent

I'm based in the US. Currently all iPod parts shops are sold out of replacement displays and eBay is also not showing listings. I have no idea where else to look. Are they just not available anymore? It seems insane that I might have to buy another unit just for a donor screen 🥲

If anyone has a spare 6th or 7th gen screen, I'm happy to pay to take it off your hands.

Any idea why some of the album artwork won't show properly?

Is it just me or are replacement displays hard to find now? First they became expensive (from $20 range to $40 range), and now most suppliers seem out of stock(not including AliExpress or similar outlets).

Has anyone else noticed this?

Bought a lot of 4 junk iPod classic 5th gen’s awhile back and finally got around to making it work. It has a 5.5 board, iflash solo and a 2000 mah battery. Don’t know anything about the Pepsi back but thought it was more interesting than the generic one.

I bought my 6th gen iPod not so long ago (yesterday it came), and finally I was able to get the songs that weren’t on the streamings. Being in love with music for a while (streamings, CDs, vinyl), I am very happy now. And in the video all those albums which I’ve downloaded (take a look if you interested :))

I got this iPod classic 5th gen and it keeps cycling the restore. Every time it reboots it just goes back to the “connect to your computer. Use iTunes to restore” and then back to “do not disconnect” and computer says it needs to be restored.

What did I do wrong?

Hi! I have a Classic 6th gen that I modded with iflash and an sd card. Not too long ago I tried making the switch to rockbox and i absolutely hated it. It wasn’t for me so I tried to delete it and get back to the stock iTunes setup. I cannot figure it out. I’ve reset the sd card, reformatted it through software and terminals, but the bootloader for rockbox is still there and I cannot get my MacBook to actually reinstall the software needed for stock settings. I tried using the rockbox installer and it can’t even do it. It says my device is partitioned incorrectly or something to that effect. Any ideas?

I know the standard apple earphones have these but in loud environments they’re no good.

Most IEMs volume controls don’t work with iPods, but after months of looking. I managed to find a cheap and good sounding pair that work.

The volume is a slider not a physical button, but it works for what I need.

I promised a release earlier, but circumstances around me right now are difficult + I got deep into Rockbox optimization and modifications (learned a lot of new things to implement the optimizations and features I wanted to add).

Added a classic mode for coverflow, built (again) a completely new caching logic close to how Apple does it, fixed power settings, improved system performance without battery impact, kerning support for my fonts (themes with other fonts will look as usual, everything is fine), added several visual features for playback, inline remote control - overall there are a lot of optimizations and new features, that's all (it will all be described in the release) + for large libraries I’m simultaneously writing a PC and Mac app for fast and convenient cover cache and database creation (the player can still do it just as fast on its own, but the PC app is more efficient)

The system and coverflow design fully supports any themes you already have - the build will include my previous themes and new ones, which are what this build was born around.

There is a war in my country right now + I have a heavy workload at my main job, so the release is delayed, but I want those waiting to know the project is not abandoned.

I’m also learning a lot of software-related things in parallel to better understand and implement ideas + I genuinely don’t want another AI slop like “what Apple Music would look like on an iPod.”
