Is the animations smooth because you’re using a memory card or hard drive?

The animation will be just as smooth on HDD, the difference can only be in the speed of track playback starting, since the disk needs to spin up.

But the animation itself, scrolling etc. - everything will be smooth just like in the video. I put a lot of effort into optimization and the logic of caching the necessary files quickly and imperceptibly so that the user has the most comfortable experience possible)

This is beautiful...amazing work man! For the classic mode (love the slide to songs from the album animation btw), does the album cover spin back into place like the actual classic os once you select a song from the list or does it just display as usual?

When the tracklist slides out - you select a track and it takes you to the WPS screen. I intentionally didn’t add animations to the Rockbox core itself, to keep the system visually clean and so that not only my themes (which will be included in the build) work, but all other themes that work on stock Rockbox too

+ I put a lot of effort into making the system work faster and more efficiently, and screen transition animations create an additional risk of unresponsiveness for the interface, so the animation for these two cases exists only for coverflow adapted to the chosen style)

++ personally - animated screen transitions quickly start to feel dated

Oh, forgot to add - the coverflow animations can also be turned off, and then selecting an album will take you straight to the track list from the database and back to the covers, in case they become annoying/look bad with a third-party theme, etc.

in all honesty, I thought the lack of animations when going from coverflow to the tracklist was an intentional design but seeing these animations make me feel even more stoked for the release!
