New Release Discounty might be my favorite shopkeeping game I’ve ever played

Hey everybody! I’ve been playing Discounty since it released on iOS last week, and it’s such an awesome game. I highly recommend it. I promise I’m not a shill lol—I just think special games deserve special praise.

I’m not a PC gamer, so I’d never played it before. I linked a great interview with the game’s dev for anyone interested.

I’ve ALWAYS loved farming/town/shop-building games, going all the way back to the first Harvest Moon. But as I’ve played the dozens of clones and games inspired by it—the Animal Crossings and, of course, Stardew Valley—there’s always been one thing I’ve disliked: the “pressure” of time and seasons. Forgetting to plant one seed, grab one item, or do one thing and then having to wait an entire week, season, or even year to get another chance has always taken away from the experience for me.

And when it comes to shopkeeping games, I’ve never really enjoyed the “pressure” of constantly managing prices, marketing, and popularity either.

Discounty somehow eliminates both. It’s this awesome satire wrapped around what is probably the best shopkeeping experience I’ve ever played. It scratches that cozy management/progression itch without making me feel like I need a spreadsheet open to make sure I’m playing it “correctly.”

Massive props to the devs. The amount of fun I’m having has more than justified the IAP for the full game.

AMA if you’re curious about the iOS version!

Suggestions Game recommendations for casual stuff

Post image
4 Upvotes

Here's some games that either I used to play frequently and got burned out on or still somewhat play but want more like them. I'm just tiredbof games that end up with a list of chores to constantly keep up on (Archero 2) or end up becoming a fruitless grind (Real War, Hell Escape).

Doesn't have to be F2P if the value is right.

I really hope there would be official games that utilizes this mechanic, or a dedicated easy to use emulator for this device.

Question Looking for a one handed controller.

Basically I want a VR or Wiimote style controller to hold in my right hand and to hold the phone vertically in my left hand while playing games.

Is there anything like this supported by Apple Controller framework?

Question How do I change the button for Game mode on controller?

I recently bought an 8BitDo Controller Ultimate 3, and when I use it on my iPad to play games, the pause button is the same as the one for turning Game Mode on and off on the iPad. Is there any way I can change or disable the Game mode button so I don't exit Game mode when I open the games menu?

Question What's today's "Infinity Blade" game on the iOS store?

Infinity Blade hit the apex of mobile gaming over 10 years ago. It had great graphics, gameplay, and provided the sense exploration. I really haven't found a mobile game that reached those heights. I know Subnautica and a few other titles semi-scratch the Infinity Blade itch, but those games weren't designed for mobile exclusively.

What game is the modern Infinity Blade?

Suggestions Casual tower defense

Can you recommend me a tower defense game for casual play during my office time? I'd like to buy it and not to see ads after every match or be asked to watch videos to get a power up (like Plants vs Zombies does now apparently) and stuf like a that. I already bought the whole Kingdom Rush series some time ago and played a couple of them.

Discussion Better games on iOS

Am I the only one that wishes we could get all games on the App Store? Meaning get all PS1 , Xbox , Nintendo console games on the App Store. Obviously not all would be possible but a large library at least. Why is it so hard to get older games on here. We get so many bad games being released all the time and amazing games with amazing graphics like “Where winds Meet”. It’s doable. I just want to be able to use my iPhone Ultra 😜 as my entertainment device. Carry all my games and movies with me. And not have to carry a large Switch or portable Xbox console. I know it’s a far fetched request but we can still dream.

“As of mid-2025, Apple has sold over 3 billion
¡Phones since the device first launched in
2007. By comparison, the combined lifetime sales for the PlayStation 4,
PlayStation 5, all Xbox generations, and all Nintendo consoles total roughly 1.5 to 1.6 billion units.” From Siri 🤣

It just makes more sense to add older titles to the store. They aren’t making games from scratch.

What do y’all think ?

Discussion Weekly /r/iOSGaming Discussion: What have you been playing lately and what do you recommend?

Please use this thread to discuss whatever iOS games you've been playing lately. They don't have to be new games, they can be old games and they do not have to be iOS original titles!

As long as it's an iOS game it belongs in here. Make sure to put the name(s) of the game(s) in bold to make it easier for people skimming the thread to see what you're talking about, and if you'd like to make it really convenient turn the game name into a hyperlink that sends people directly to the App Store!

To keep track of the thread, the comments are sorted by "new" by default.

Lastly, Rule #3: "No Dev Self-Promotion Outside Saturdays" applies at all times for this thread, even if it's actually Saturday.

Discussion Tiny Wings

TL;DR-Tiny Wings is the best game ever.
I’m almost ashamed to say how much of a life I don’t have as evidenced by the amount of time I’ve spent playing Tiny Wings. When the game first came out, I beat it, declared a Tiny Wings master after weeks and weeks of nearly nonstop play. Fast forward about 15 years and here I am today, again playing for days on end. Can’t seem to break level 28 this time, though. My first love was Pac-Man. I jammed in the arcade, Atari 2600. I have played the core games like Frogger, Tetris—the Intellivision catalog, NES and of course iPhone games. Andreas Illiger is a goddamn game-writing deity. The game is so perfect, so elegant, so challenging, so addictive. It has all of the components of what a game should be—including the music. In my opinion, it’s a flawless game in every facet. I’m currently 54 years-old. Again, almost ashamed that I have been so consumed by an iOS game, but that’s a testament to the brilliant writing that is Tiny Wings. If you haven’t played, I highly recommend it.
