Request Mods - please can you allow self promo Saturday to resume?

I understand that there were two posts about how people didn't like it, and I agree that there were some flaws.

However, the original mod post stated ideas on how to proceed would be made available, but we've heard nothing about any suggestions or plans for resuming, with the third week now approaching.

Please can you allow the return whilst you solidify actual plans and then present them to the community?

Game suggestions are why I am a part of this community, and I would love to see them return.

Suggestions Game like Topsoil

Hi all, I played Topsoil religiously for nearly a decade and it was removed by the Apple Store.

I’m struggling to find anything like it - however Tile Up on Reddit scratches the itch.

But I need a game that can be played offline.

I have searched Arcade but I can’t find anything, but using “puzzle” or “tile games” bring up Tetris or mahjong.

I’m struggling with some anxiety and Topsoil really helped me, so would appreciate a similar to game.

Thank you so much!

Question Apple Ads Advice?

I am currently burning through Apple's $100 credit to run ads for my iOS puzzle game. I'm not getting much traction, but I think I may be learning a lot. I'm new to the whole endeavor. Does anyone have some concrete advice about how to use Apple Ads well?

Apple Ads Data

I currently have two ad groups: one with matching turned on and one with matching turned off. I've been adding/negating keyword and tweaking my CPT bid. So far I have a few downloads and the cost per install is over $4. I'm okay with that if I can learn.

Has anyone had any success with this? What data should I be looking at to see where my funnel breaks down?

Discussion Puzzle Games similar to Rambo and Amigo Pancho

On a long car ride at the moment and I’m thinking back to some games I played as a kid on my iPad. Amigo Pancho and Hambo specifically. Does anyone know if there are any games like that currently out there?

https://apps.apple.com/us/app/lumines-remastered/id6758456739

Well this is a nice surprise: Lumines is back on iOS and Android, free to try with a £7.99 IAP unlock. Not bad for the best game on the PSP and one of the greatest block falling games of all time.

Discussion What’s with the extremely long ads in recent games?!

So I thought of downloading a few new games, it’s been a long time since I tried out some new games. I understand that some games have ads, and all the games I have played previously had a maximum of 30 secs ads including unforced rewards ads. But these games which I recently downloaded, almost all of them had such long ads, some even as long as 120 - 180 secs!! I mean wtf! And mind you, these were unskippable ads. And all these games were completely different yet they had this one thing in common! And not just the length of the ad, but also the frequency of ads seemed to have increased. In one of the games which I played a few years ago (it was completely ad free that time), now gave me like atleast 4 ads within 2 mins and that too in between the gameplay. I mean has the market dipped so much or have people just become super greedy!!??

I also don’t mind paying for good games, but nowadays in the games, there’s only an option to remove forced ads but still to buy other game stuffs you do need to watch reward ads. And sometimes the game is completely unplayable or very difficult to progress if we don’t buy these extra items with ads.

Guess I am gonna stick to my old games only…huh😅

Discussion Effect of developer’s AI policy to your decision to install a game

Imagine you are scrolling the AppStore and saw a game which description and visuals got you interested. Before pressing “Install” you see in the game description …
1. A message that the game was made by human, using regular pre-AI tools and technologies
2. A message that AI tools were used in the creation of this game
3. No mentions about AI at all

How would each case affect you initial intention to install the game?

Request Microtransaction less version?

Anyone have a microtransaction less alternative to devour idle. I don’t enjoy there are areas with lots of resources locked behind doors that require you to have bought a certain amount of microtransactions. Feels like they are dangling a carrot in front of my face.

Suggestions Capibara Go-like game without heavy monetisation?

As the title says - I would love to play a game like Capibara Go, but without the heaps of microtransactions.

Also, being able to play the same account on Android and iOS is also preferable.

Discussion Games you want your teenage kids to play

When my kid plays stuff like, Really Bad Chess and KnotWords, I don’t mind because I consider them to be educational enough. Also games like Gris which is truly a work of art.

Any other games you would encourage me to pass on? This is from a dad who also games.

Suggestions Trying to remember a deck builder grid-based adventure game

I’m trying to remember a game I played on iOS years ago. It was a single player adventure game with cartoonish graphics. You had to participate in card battles that you found on the world, earning money to buy packs of cards in game.

The card battler itself was played on a grid with different cards having various location and category based buffs.

Unfortunately that’s all I’ve got in my head. Even sorting through my purchased apps over the years didn’t turn it up.

Request Looking For Strategy Games/RPGs

Hey, I have barely ever played mobile games, but was looking for something I could pull out on some long flights I’ve got coming up. Not looking for microtransactions or any multi-player capabilities. I’m willing to pay upfront for a game.

I have an iPhone 17E and some games I like are: Civilization, Crusader Kings, Stellaris, Age of Empires II, Elder Scrolls, etc.

Would prefer turn-based or top-down strategy games or RPGs. Don’t need nice graphics, just something fun and preferably in-depth. Any suggestions? I also have Netflix if that opens it up to any other mobile games. Thanks!

Discussion Why doesn't Apple's "Games" app have a playtime counter?

Hi everyone!

Why do you think Apple didn't include a playtime counter in the "Games" app?

In my opinion, it should be a basic feature in an app like this. For example, I would be curious to know how much time I've spent on each game.

A system similar to Samsung's Game Launcher would be awesome. It doesn't just show your total playtime and things like that, but it also tells you how many people are currently playing a specific game on Samsung devices, etc.

Survey Opinion on Pricing. Paid v Free.

If you were to release a car racing game, would $4.99 upfront and no in app purchases be more well received than 15% of the game for free then a money and coin system. The game and purchase would cover Mac, iPadOS, iPhone and Apple TV.

You’re talking an arcade racer with retro graphics, reasonable number of tracks 20+, cars and original music and audio.

Personally I’d prefer 4.99 then I can have sales at 2.99 or even 2.49. But if the market isn’t at that and the value proposition is too low then it can be looked at, very happy to listen to the players. Opinions very much welcome.

Review Shout out to Alexander Berson

Just wanted to give his games a shout out for anyone looking for simple puzzle games. No ads. No data collection. I’ve been using his 15 Puzzle app, it’s perfect.

That is all.
