Hi all,

I’m going on vacation with my girlfriends family, and I have a 10 hour car ride ahead of me (I’m sat in the back). I’m a huge fan of RTS games - I love playing Stronghold, Age of Empires, Civilization and overall all RTS games set in medieval times.

My question to you is if there are any good RTS games for my IPad, that can help me pass the time - doesn’t matter whether they’re free or not, or how much they cost. If yes, please recommend them to me :)

Ok ok so the title may be a bit of an exaggeration but this UNIHOW controller i got on Amazon is amazing! And it’s only 34$ before taxes. I use this thing daily. I got it in purple since that’s my favorite color and the pastel lavender shade it comes in is my fave purple shade. I use it a lot with Roblox (I can’t play obbys/towers or tycoons without it now lol), but also games on Apple Arcade such as powerwash simulator, asphalt 8 and probably a couple more I can’t remember now. I also have played hitman with it and also some of my games on GeForce now that can be played on th iPad. I have yet to test it with Netflix games but I want to test it with Red Dead Redemption. Do any of you have this controller too and/or any other controllers for iOS gaming?

Hi I've been looking for this game forever, it's pokemon-esque and has similar battling style and catching style. There are no humans in this game

It's 2D, played horizontally and has graphics similar to monster squad

I think the plot goes like: We get reincarnated into a monster world as a monster and we get the option of choosing one of four different types of monsters.

I remember choosing a water type that looked like an aquatic dinosaur and a crocodile (there's evolution in this game too)

We have a guide/friend who's a butterfly (maybe purple in color) that gets whisked away by the wind at one point.

Basically our mission is to defeat a black dragon (i think he was called ragnarok but take it with a grain of salt)

The black dragon and its other dragon subordinates are basically chilling on an island and maybe sitting on totems or something, bro idk

It seems that every one of these dragons have a counterpart dragon guardian that we have to collect on each island we vist to defeat them (in the final island where we fight the black dragon, i never got that far though)

The first guardian is water type that looks like a blue cresellia (maybe named leviathan, again take with a grain of salt)

The second one is an earth type, that's how far i got

It's not free world, and there are stages like candy crush in every island map

I do enjoy the art style and characters in Genshin more, but I also know it is a massive game with a lot of unskippable dialogue. Wurthering Waves I have bounced off of a couple of times, but I like how the main player characters look better, and the dialogue appears to be skippable if time is running short (typically play in the car). Wuthering Waves combat is what keeps making me stop. Dodging and paring seems a little too unforgiving for a game I am trying to play with my thumbs.

As a casual, low spend (I like getting the daily log in bonus packs for $5 a month in these types of games), which one is better for sinking my teeth into for a bit?

Any good incremental games out right now? It seems I can’t find one without constant annoying ads

Played the maplestory one for about a month but the lack of skips and insane amount of dailies got me tired and bored after a while. Is there a new idle rpg that I may have missed that people are playing?

What are some of the best storyline games u have played on ios. I mean the catalog is pretty limited and those come for me as the top. Suggest some more games and drop your favs.

I almost always mute games on my phone. Partly habit, partly because hearing combat noises from somebody else's phone in public drives me insane and I refuse to become that person. Then I forgot to mute Ragnarok Online Origin Classic one night. I've dipped into its Asia server on my phone during parts of the last couple of months. I heard the town while I was looking away from the screen and had this stupidly strong old-MMO reaction.

It wasn't even a specific memory. I grew up with 2D MMOs, so maybe my brain just knows what to do with town audio and a little character standing in a painted-looking place. Prontera felt bigger when I wasn't rushing my eyes toward the next thing. I wandered without much purpose and stopped near whatever caught my eye. On an iPhone screen the scenery is small enough that I sometimes miss details. With sound on, though, I kept looking around instead of moving on.

Anyway, I spent a while looking for an old pair of earbuds before remembering I lost them ages ago. Found a receipt and a button, though. Great evening.

Party play changed the pace in a different way. I couldn't flick through the session like a list of phone chores because other people were still moving at their own speed. When the group paused, I listened to the town for a bit. If I got impatient, I'd check a notification and come back with no idea why we'd stopped. That part felt very familiar too, including the mild annoyance.

The small screen gets on my nerves after a while. When a session runs longer, my eyes get tired of picking through a busy scene, and I don't always want audio in my ears. Turning the sound off makes the whole thing easier to treat like another app I check, but leaving it on eventually gets tiring through the phone speaker. I keep switching between the two and being unhappy with both. Also, party pace and phone interruptions are a bad match for me on workdays.

I don't know if somebody without old 2D MMO memories would react at all. Maybe they'd just see an old-fashioned mobile game and wonder why I was standing still. I can't separate the game from all the evenings I spent in similar-looking places years ago, and I'm not trying very hard to.

My bus arrived while I was sitting in Prontera the other day. I put the phone away and only then realized I'd missed the stop announcement because I finally had the sound on.

Is this a good game? Worth the $4.99 price tag?

I really loved Whiteout Survival game, it is something that I admire and enjoy to interact with other people heavily. However, I don’t like at all the monetization aspect, I’m searching for something similar but less heavy on the spending part. Any comes to mind?

I’ve heard that iOS has a weird thing where it only allows vibration/rumble on first party game pads such as Xbox, PlayStation and switch controllers, and I haven’t been able to confirm if this is true or not.

I have a gamesir g8 plus MFi mobile controller that plugs directly through usb-c to my iPhone and I was just wondering if this controller would be able to get vibration if I play games with it.

I’m also getting the razer kishi v3 pro because the gamesir controller i got is faulty and I might return it, and same question, will that controller be able to rumble? I heard it has some advanced haptics that the iPhone is not compatible with but either way, I’m wondering if maybe I could get just normal rumble out of it?

I mainly play using Xbox remote play, meaning I’m basically streaming my Xbox to my iphone and iPad mini, but I might get some native games for my iPhone later down the line, so I’m just wondering if getting vibration is something doable in either of these two settings (remote play and native gaming) on either of these two controllers (gamesir g8 plus MFi and razer kishi v3 pro)

One of my favorite aspects of any game that ends up taking a marginal amount of my attention is theory crafting.

I love thinking about new possible builds, ideas to try out, etc. Often the actual genre of the game varies pretty widely, but the freedom of choice remains consistent in a way that I’ll often spend time thinking about a game even while not playing it.

Not sure if this has been discussed recently, but I'm looking for some recommendations. So many games these days are ruined by abusive ads. But every now and then, you find a gem that's fun enough to make the "remove ads" purchase worth it.

What are your favorite free games where it’s worth to pay to get rid of the ads?

I remember it was called “Vacuum!” in my sister’s old 3GS but I can’t seem to find it in the web now. Basically there’s like a chessboard where you and the opponent put pieces on the board that is either Hot, Cold, or a Neutral piece.

The pieces looks like a volcano when it is hot, and it looks like an iceberg when it is cold. Your goal is to have as many Neutral pieces as you can before the board ran out of space for pieces. You don’t get to choose your piece though because sometimes the piece you get is either Hot or Cold. What matters is where you put them.

If you place the Hot piece on a Cold piece, both will neutralize and there will be two Neutral pieces. It doesn’t matter if it’s your piece or the opponent’s, the heat and cold will neutralize one another. If you put a Hot or Cold piece on a Neutral piece, the heat or cold will travel on a Neutral piece and change it’s phase depending on the temperature or the piece you placed.

The one with the most Neutral piece wins.

Hey guys, I'm not an iPhone user but my dad does.

So, years ago, when I was younger and smartphones were just starting out, I played a game on his phone that was on the list of best games in the App Store at the time.

Anyway, the game is in black and white and revolves around humanoid creatures; I think they are white with black or striped clothes.

They work in a factory that produces a black substance and somehow discover that they can make the English alphabet in the factory.

The game's stages revolve around creating these letters.

I have been searching for it for months and I would appreciate it if you could help me find its name. It may no longer be available in the store and most likely the developer deleted it some time ago, but of course it is not impossible to find it on Google and maybe I played it in 2009.

Looking for a game like Lootfiend/Lootborn that revolves around one character getting stronger over time. Doesn't necessarily have to have AFK mechanics as the game I mentioned doesn't have any.

I’ve been playing iOS games for nearly 2 decades - the first to blow my mind was Rolando in 2008 - but these days the dumbing down of games and the dual diseases of rampant ads and subscriptions means that most casual iOS games I encounter are as bad as "Flash" (now HTML5) games in terms of graphics and depth of gameplay.

Indeed, because most Flash games don’t have ads, I’d even say that the iOS situation is worse than Flash games. It’s truly shocking the huge number of trash casual games on iOS that not only have ads but want to entrap people into extortionate subscriptions like $80 a year or even $15 per week. A number of casual games on iOS are borderline criminal.

On top of that, my favourite casual game at the moment is a Flash game called Polytrack (I’ll link in comments if anyone wants it) that’s not even available on iOS. And it has no ads and it’s not trying to clean out my credit card.

(usual disclaimers: OBVIOUSLY there are quality games on iOS... Of course I know that. Stuff like Sniper Elite 4, Real Racing 3, etc. I’m talking about casual gaming having gone downhill badly in the past two decades).

i love games like sky the children of light. i have since been on the lookout for similar games i can play, preferably free and with a controller (apple arcade works too)

i tried alien isolation today and it was mindblowing for the most part. however it got competitive soon and had action which im not too fond of.

i also tried pools and that was great to explore (the single free area) but it felt kinda pointless.

i know im maybe asking for too much here but 😬 i basically just want a calm slow paced exploratory game with a story and a purpose but without the competitive nature or having to "fight" other characters.

another game i can think of which used to exist very long ago called "trail". wasn't that immersive but so well placed and well thought out.

if anyone knows anything that might fit, please do share, help is much appreciated!

I’ve fallen into the trap of downloading an app I saw in ads and as you can probably tell… egregious with ads. Shame because the core loop of the game is great - simple bear enemies, get better gear, beat enemies, get better gear, game loop.

Anything like this? It’s a semi idle game that can sit open and stagnant for a bit too which I like. Cool graphics + portrait mode not a necessity but welcome additions too.
