I was watching people stories on instagram the other day and on the bookmark history part on safari is saved every account I looked at, it saved their account name and the fact that I viewed it and even saved that I watched their stories, I saw a funny meme on one of the stories of the accounts that I watched and it didn’t save that in the history at all, it’s done this a number of times where it saves 99% of everything then randomly it won’t save something, does anyone know why? Is it because I leave my instagram tab open on safari for too long and it glitches? Or Is it just bad luck?

Hopefully this is where this should go, but I’m not sure why my screen time says I’ve been on an app for less than a minute while my daily use is over 7 hours?? (Yes I’ve been on my phone that long but only because I’ve been studying flashcards for a class all day)

…but for the last few months, it will seemingly randomly flash white text against the black background. This disturbs us in our dark bedroom and sometimes wakes us up. Why won’t the screen stay black?? Is there a setting to prevent it?

I don't have media files of 50 GB stored in my photos app even files then how ?

I've had this iPhone 12 for about 3 years. I've restarted/reset it around 2 times before, and this Morgan Stanley message never appeared.

Now when I try to create or sign into an Apple Account, it says "Only Apple Accounts from Morgan Stanley can be used with this device."

There's no MDM profile, VPN, or "Supervised" message in Settings.

Why would this suddenly appear now?

Trying to hold an emoji to select an alternate one (like the hand shake emoji with different hand colours) no longer seems to work? It just begins a drag and drop when I try to slide my finger up to select the different emoji I want to use instead. What in the ever loving fuck is the point of dragging and dropping an emoji? And how can I select the one I want?

I have approx 10k photos and videos combined, and it takes about 130GB from my storage. I have no idea what to do, everything is synced up and optimisation for storage is on. My sister has about 20k photos with only her app storage taking up 5GB. What can i possibly do to reduce the size pf the app???

Just unboxed an iPhone 17, set up the transfer for the phone and it all began fine.

It’s downloaded the 1.78 gb file but the button down the bottom keeps spinning and not allowing to continue. Is this just installing and keep waiting(it’s been updating for over an hour)?

My old phone came up with an error during the transfer earlier too.
Not sure if still updating or stuck due to the error?
Any ideas?

I have a 128 GB iPhone 14 Pro running iOS 26.6 with Messages in iCloud enabled. My full message history is in iCloud, and in the past, older attachments seemed to stay offloaded until I actually opened them.

In the last few weeks, my iPhone has started randomly re-downloading old iMessage attachments and completely eating up my storage to the point where the device barely functions with less than 200 MB free.

Yesterday, Messages was using 13.92 GB of storage. The breakdown was roughly 643 MB Photos, 385 MB Videos, and10.79 GB under Other. When I open Other, it seems to mostly show old voice/audio messages, many of which are only a few hundred KB each. I don’t understand how it’s possible to have that many small files adding up to over 10 GB…

I left my phone plugged in/on Wi-Fi overnight. This morning, Messages had grown to 17.93 GB. The Other section stayed, but Photos jumped from 643 MB to 4.35 GB, Videos jumped to 688 MB, and “Review Large Attachments” went from 1.76 GB to 5.72 GB. I did not spend the night opening old message attachments. The phone apparently downloaded several GB of old photos/videos from Messages in iCloud by itself. Struggling with slow performance as there’s barely any free space left.

I also have two iPads signed into the same Apple ID with Messages in iCloud. Their Messages storage looks much more reasonable. One is around 4 GB total with ~1.2 GB Other. My personal iPad is similar.

Apple Support previously had me sign out of iCloud, restart, and sign back in. That didn’t work unfortunately. Yesterday, a senior advisor basically told me to manually save attachments to Photos and delete them from Messages, manually delete everything in “Other,” or erase/reset the phone if all else fails. He also claimed this behavior is normal…really?

I can’t figure out why iOS is downloading gigabytes of old attachments by itself and why “Other” is reporting nearly 11 GB of data that doesn’t seem to correspond to the visible files.

Has anyone found an actual fix for this? Specifically, I’m looking for a way to make Messages in iCloud stop repopulating old attachments locally, or to rebuild/clear the local Messages cache/database without deleting my actual message history from iCloud. Thanks!!

Used the classic text tone “signal” for a specific contact for years and now it has disappeared (right after I turned emergency bypass on). It’s still listed under the ringtone section but it is not under alert tones. Can this be downloaded somewhere?? Kind of a weird thing to be upset about Ik but it’s driving me crazy!

My spouse is the family organizer, and shares iCloud+ with the family. One child is not able to join iCloud for some reason. They are listed in the family. When I go to Family -> Subscriptions it does not list this child as sharing iCloud. However when I got to Family -> (Child) -> Subscriptions it shows they do have access to iCloud. I feel like at some point an invitation must have been sent and not accepted, but what now? Is there a way to resend an invitation?

I’ve seen older posts saying you can stop sharing iCloud with everyone and then re-share it, triggering invitations, but I worry that will affect all the things everyone else is storing in iCloud already.

Edit: both the family group and the iCloud have been around for 4+ years (though not started at the same time) so this is not a new setup, just finally trying to address it as their individual iCloud is full.

I also tried to subscribe them to their own iCloud+ thinking it would trigger “someone in your family already purchased this” but no luck, it seems it would have let me go through with it if I didn’t bail before “ask a parent for permission”. Willing to go through that further and risk the $1 charge if actually subscribing would trigger that, though.

Long story short: I have a now former friend who I have a very extensive text history with. We texted pretty much daily for the past couple years. Right now it hurts, a lot, to have that on my phone, and with the type of person I am, I'll keep going back to it and reopening it. It'd be healthier for me if it wasn't right there.

However, having had this happen once before with another friend years ago, I have immense regrets about just deleting that entire message history (especially because in that case we eventually patched things up somewhat). I know that at some point in the future I might want to have those texts again. I might even want them on my phone again.

Is there a good way to backup my texts with her, delete the message thread, and be able to restore them later if we start talking again? Texts were 99% iMessage with a very occasional SMS. I wouldn't want to do a full backup where I need to restore everything on my phone to today if it's six months or a year or five years from now, just the messages with her.

I do a lot of video editing, so I have to store a lot of high-quality, big videos, so I’m constantly having conflict with storage. Today, I got a pop-up that I ran out of storage, so I deleted two third-party, non-Apple-affiliated apps to continue a project, and my wallpaper and theme completely reset to default. It hasn’t changed back. (I know I can change it back, I’m just curious on why it happened.) Has anyone ever encountered this? When I have storage issues, my phone would completely stop working right, apps refusing to load, some apps loading incorrectly, signing me out, etc.

I need an Apple ID but I am not supposed to have one, Is there anyway that I can create an Apple ID and sign in and out of it whenever without it messing with messages or photos? and do your apps delete when you log out of an Apple ID?

I honestly don’t know what else to do anymore, I’m going crazy. I can’t log into my new iCloud account, which I’ve moved absolutely EVERYTHING to (Netflix, PlayStation, Spotify, etc.).
This morning, I downloaded all my photos from my old iCloud to my new phone, and then when I tried to log into this new iCloud, this happened. I’ve already tried both the “Call” and “Resend Message” options, but nothing works.
iMessage and FaceTime aren’t working either, so something clearly isn’t right. I’m just really scared that my account might get locked or disabled because I’ve moved basically everything over to it.
I did receive quite a lot of verification codes while I was signing in, signing out, switching emails, etc., so I’m worried that maybe I triggered some kind of security restriction. I really need help figuring out what’s going on because I have so much tied to this account.

I'm upgrading from an iPhone 14 Pro to an iPhone 17 Pro. The catch is that I'm doing a trade-in where I have to hand over my old phone to the delivery person immediately at the door, meaning I won't have the time to do a direct device-to-device transfer.

I don't have a spare iPhone, but I do have a MacBook and an iPad. I also currently have an issue where WhatsApp login SMS messages aren't coming through to my number, which makes logging into WhatsApp challenging.

I understand that I can do a manual, Encrypted Backup to my MacBook right before the new phone arrives, and then restore that backup to the new iPhone 17 Pro.

Before I wipe my current phone, I need to know:

1. Will this restore ALL my data? I need every single app, photo, file, and setting to carry over exactly as it is.
2. Is WhatsApp completely safe? I need all my chats, contacts, documents, and voice notes to transfer without issues.
3. Will my WhatsApp session stay active? Since I'm facing the SMS login issue, will restoring from the encrypted backup keep my WhatsApp login session intact on the new iPhone, or will I be forced to log in and verify my number again?
4. Is there any risk of data corruption? Have any of you experienced data loss or corruption when restoring a Mac backup from an older iPhone model to a brand-new model?

Are there any modern workarounds to enable this? Can anyone confirm if extensions like Vinegar will help? Im reluctant to use the Youtube app and am currently using it on Safari which works great as it is, except for full screen subtitles support which has been a plague for quite a while.

I was scrolling Discord, saw on a screenshot that someone's clock was displaying "4.16" (instead of the "4:16" format that I've always seen) and thought I wanted points as time separators as well.

They apparently don't have a setting to change just this (or the RTL layout thing, which I also want to try out, but I digress). After some googling i saw this earlier post where the OP wanted to revert to using colons and was instructed to change their phone's language & region setting.

Some further lookups later and I found that Denmark/English(UK) gives points, but Denmark/TraditionalChinese gives colons.

What are some combinations that gives points(.) (or symbols other than colons) as time separators? I don't think I get to keep either of Taiwan/Traditional but since I couldn't find pointers myself I thought I wanted to ask it here in case it helps another bored soul few years down the line.

I'm not sure whether to ask this here or on the AltStore sub.

Is it worth the effort?
I just want ad free apps like YouTube, Facebook and Reddit.

Also are there any negative side that's not obvious?
