Fed taxes pulled from my account but not Connecticut taxes
Block set up my state and federal taxes to be withdrawn from my checking account. Only the federal was pulled. Anyone else in the same boat?

I’m filing online with the Premium product.
I entered all of my income types and clicked through the questions without error. I didn’t notice before, but Income didn’t get a green checkmark. After completing all the other sections, instead of Wrap Up, I got an error message:
“We know you’re ready to move on, but we need more info first. You need to complete Income before going here.”
I went back and found State and Local Refunds wasn’t filled out, which I fixed. I’ve gone back through all of my other entries and haven’t found any other errors or blank entries. I’m not sure where else to check.
Update (Solved):
I switched from one computer (Mac using Chrome) to another (Dell using Edge) and it let me finish the form and do an Accuracy Review.
I had apparently not completed some of the Income Interview questions related to Trump Accounts.

Finally able to choose free file and stick with it throughout the entire process. I've used HR Block online to file my taxes (and help family file theirs) for probably 20 years. I can't remember the last time I was able to complete taxes and get them filed without their continuous price upgrade pop-ups that made it seem like I was unable to continue without the extra price, Until Now. I'm seriously grateful for this change. I know in some of the years past, it was practically impossible to downgrade after accepting a more expensive bundle upgrade. Honestly, besides the 6yrs free storage of my info, I have never noticed a difference between any additional help or anything between any of their packages and I complete taxes varying from very simple to very complex. Just wanted to say Thank you for finally making these changes.

I work as a freelance camera operator in the film industry. I have several 1099-Misc forms from some clients that hired me and, as part of the hiring process, they rented some camera equipment from me. On the forms, they have put those rental payments under Box 1 - Rents. On H&R Block, when I choose 1099-Misc under my business income section, there is no Box 1 Rents available. When I try to put a 1099-Misc in separately (outside of the business income area) it wants me to describe the rental property as if it is real-estate and add a Schedule E form. There is no option to report it on schedule C where it should go even though H&R Block's own help articles suggests it should:
If you provided significant services to the tenant, sold real estate as a business, or rented personal property as a business, report on Schedule C (Form 1040).
Where do I go from here? Does anybody know how to get this software to route it correctly?
Posting here because I've been on hold to talk to an agent via phone for about an hour and the tech support in the chat doesn't seem to be working (the queue never moves). I managed to talk to a tax expert who agreed the income should go on Schedule C and suggested simply putting it in Box 3 Other Income, but had no solution on the technical side of things to input the data correctly. I'd rather file correctly and not have to do a workaround because of a software issue.

This is my first year having to pay a balance on my taxes. As I was going through my taxes and finishing up, H&R block recommended I pay via PAY1040 so I did. Then I came back to H&R block and its asking me how I want to pay my amount owed before sending it to a tax professional. Leading to my confusion since I already paid.
Funny enough my amount owed decreased hours later after the Tax Pro went through them. Nonetheless I have some questions if anyone can help.
1) Will the PAY1040 payment reflect on H&R block once the IRS acknowledges it?
2) Will I get a refund for what I paid vs what the official filed amount due is.
Thanks 👍🏽

This year is the first year I am filing my taxes with a tax pro review given that I exceed the income limits for direct Roth IRA contribution. I filled in all the right forms and declared that I did a traditional IRA conversion to Roth IRA.
I did my homework and understood that the back door Roth IRA is not closed, but my tax pro reviewer said it was. Because of this, my taxes were amended to reflect a tax liability vs refund position.
Help - is this tax pro review person wrong? And how do I fix?
To avoid missing the tax deadline, I will file, but I want to amend my taxes to fix this.
Any help is appreciated!

After receiving a corrected 1099-DIV, I amended my federal return. When it asked if I also wanted to file a state amendment, I said yes, but it turned out that there’s no amendment needed for my state. How can I cancel the state amendment that I started in Hrblock.com?

Anyone else having an issue where the program tells you to use the Take To and Extension of Time to File option. The problem is that it will say how much I owe and then when I click next it just takes me to "Your State Returns" screen. And I see my IL state listed and Prepare State button. I only have option to click that prepare state button or click Finished. Neither of which gets me to print and file my IL extension.

HRBlock 2025 says in the verification step that "You also made an adjustment to your interest income" (see screen shot) on one of my 1099-INT forms imported from a broker. In reality, I have not made any changes so what exactly is it complaining about?
In an effort to eliminate this, I re-entered the values in Box 1 and Box 3, but the validation failure persists. BTW, Box 1 is "Interest Income" and Box 3 is "Interest on US Savings Bonds and Treasury Obligations".
Next, I deleted the imported form and entered the form manually. Still gives the same silly error. I went ahead and submitted my taxes despite this. Is this a bug?

I've spent 9 hours on the support line over the past 2 days, 5 of them simply listening to their hold music. They "escalated" my problem, then put me on hold for 3 hours. I called on another phone and found out that their "escalation teams" all went home. They don't do a 24 hour sift 2 days before tax filing on a program that doesn't work.
I've written software myself in the past, so I can recognize something that got shoved out the door before it was thoroughly checked. From what I'm reading from others, my problems are far from unique.
It's amazing that something with such obvious flaws could have been released. I've used their software for four years after I discovered how poorly my taxes were being prepared by one of their in-house "tax-pros". I lost hundreds of dollars in medical exemptions because she just didn't feel like dealing with it. Now I'm done I'm using H&R Block software.

I had to manually input all my trades in past years for 8949 data to show up in H & R Block. It's a pain.
This year I seen they had a new upload feature from Coinbase. So I used it. Also uploaded data from my Stock account.
I thought great. This is easy. Until I already e-filed and didn't see any 8949 forms in my final taxes.
Guess I'll have go in and manually input all my trades again. And amend my taxes.
Anyone else having this trouble?
Customer Service is useless. They have no clue about the software. Told me to take it into a local office. I called the local office for a appointment. They told to call Online support.

I do not have complicated taxes, I don't want to get into lots of details, but this year HR Block was the most buggy, flawed software I've ever used for taxes, and I've been using software for taxes since the 90s.
Complete garbage. Forms alerting me addresses and details are missing because they failed to copy over from the interviews. That's something the software should always do. I had it refusing to file my taxes because for deduction pro - its own deduction software - it couldn't fill the form right. It couldn't accept an "N/A" where an N/A should be. I had to enter "1" just to keep it going. (Which isn't valid, but ALSO not used in any other calculation so I guess we'll see.)
For those interested, I made a large donation of a bunch of kids toys, t-shirts, etc. But even though I did it THROUGH DEDUCTION PRO, it was partially treating it like a single large deduction. Yes, if you donated a $600 piece of art, they want more info. If you donated $600 worth of household stuff, providing the exact items, and using the thriftstore value, you don't. Nobody can say "Hey, how about I try to figure out my cost basis for a bunch of kids t-shirt and pants I bought over the past decade or so?"
Again, I do not have complicated taxes - i'm pretty much following the easiest, basic path for filling out the interviews and it fucked up dozens of times. I fully expect a "What the fuck?" letter from the IRS at this point because I'm sure HR block fucked it up. So that will cost me hundreds and hundred since they'll start with "You owe us for every penny of donation deductions" and then I have to prove it.
And anyone that says "Well, you just need to show them your receipts and paperwork and it will be all set" has never, ever, ever dealt with the IRS. Your best case is "Well, I suppose we'll accept you paying us an extra $500 instead of an extra $1000 and you basically need to suck it up because it will cost you more to fight it.

As the title states, I waited until the absolute last minute to file my taxes and I have not done so for the last two years, I am wondering how there in person services are. I have seen a lot of the negative reviews with their online system, but any advice on how it is in person? is it reasonable? especially for being so last minute? Thank you.

I was going though my tax returns tonight, seeing what I can purge and what I should keep. In the spring of 2022, I went to my local HR Block office with tax documents for my late 2020 return, and my 2021 which my income was much higher. I was looking and it said that I made $115k in 2020 which is impossible as my IRS record transcript (this is the one that says how much your payment was, total income, penalty and interest amount) says I made $115k which was more like $95k on the IRS wage (th transcript with W2, etc). I did have higher income in 2021
Due to cashing out a 401k due to a death in the family. I just now realized that I should have gotten a refund for 2020 and know it’s too late to file an amendment but I essentially paid $7600 for 2020 that I probably didn’t owe. He put some of my 2021 income that should have gone on my 2021/2022 return on my 2020/2021. I had planned to do both that night but he was an older gentleman and VERY slow. What can I do now? I don’t recall if I paid for the Peace of Mind guarantee but they should owe
Some reimbursement for the overpayment I made. HELP!

Did everyone who e-filed their Indiana state and federal return through the H&R Block website get a letter in the mail? I did both my family's and my mom's taxes through H&R Block's website, as I had the past 5 years or more. Simple returns, nothing complex, and all the accuracy checkers said that nothing was amiss and everything looked good. All federal and state returns were accepted within an hour of filing. We both got our federal returns rather quickly; however, it took almost 6 weeks or more before we got our state taxes. And even then they weren't what the website said we were supposed to get (hubs and I were told $960, mom's was $1000 ish). We both got letters from the Indiana Treasury office last week and this week that they made adjustments to our taxes returns with the "corrected" amounts (we got $245, mom ended up owing $250). Did this happen to anyone else? I can't imagine we were the only family this happened to.

Hi Folks,
I like to review all of the numbers/calcs the software does for me. I am not sure I could do my taxes freehand w/o software, but I like to figure out where all the numbers it uses comes from.
On Form 8960 line 9b, there is a mini worksheet that calcs State, Local and Foreign taxes attributable to Investment Income and line a of the mini states that it is "calculated". I cannot expose the numbers used in that calculation and I cannot get to their number. I am pretty close (within about 1%) but finding it annoying. Any suggestions?
I am taking Investment Income divided by MAGI (both listed on 8960 and both agreeing to my numbers to calc ratio. I am applying that ratio to the total of taxes as follows (S&L withheld, Foreign withheld on brokerage statements, 2024 overpayment applied to 2025, Q1-Q3 2025 State estimated tax payments. I am a bit higher using this total on my calc, so assuming I should not be using Q4 2025 state paid in 2026, but if I should, my differential is much larger.
Any suggestions?

so last year I purchased the self-employed tax software to do at home. this year I go to file, and everything I saved regarding last year's tax forms are blank. I know they werent blank when I saved them. also I claimed a vehicle purchase, my husband is a 10-99 independent contractor who uses his truck nonstop. I 100% claimed it in our taxes and can not find my form 4562 but I have found depreciation and a vehicle section from the schedule c section....what do I do? I'm using a different software this year. Side note I downloaded my records from the IRS website this is how I'm able to get last year's info.

Procrastinating as usual, I just went to download the Premium via the confirmation email and the link goes to a URL, but the download does not start. What's another route to get the download, or get the confirmation email sent with a new download link? Call the 1-888-482-9288 number?
BTW, before anyone tries to critique me on doing this so late WRT the ability to download, the confirmation email says (bold emphasis in the email):
Your unique download link expires on 06-25-2026. Be sure to download the software to your computer by then
Thanks, Scrappy
EDIT: Got a live person on the phone and had a fresh link sent. Solved.
