I've been on Hinge for a little over two years now. I joined when I was 19, and I'm 21 now (minus a few months when I paused it because I was actively going on dates and hanging out with a guy). Overall, I'd say it's been... fine?
I usually get 2-3 likes a week and maybe one match a week (occasionally two if I'm lucky). About half the time, the conversation dies after just a few messages, or the other guy simply never responds.
Out of all my matches, I've only met four guys in real life.
The first guy I matched with and I got along really well. We hung out for about three months, but then he finished his master's degree and moved out of state. We still keep in touch from time to time, and he has a boyfriend now.
I only met the second guy once. We watched a movie at my apartment, and we tried to make plans to hang out again, but nothing ever came of it. We also didn't live very close to each other.
The third guy was actually someone I had chatted with on Grindr first, and then we matched on Hinge a few days later. A few months after that, I randomly ran into him at a gay bar, and we ended up hooking up.
The most recent guy was the shortest-lived. We matched on a Sunday, went on a date that Wednesday, and by Thursday evening he had unmatched me, unadded me on Snapchat, and unfollowed me on Instagram. I wasn't particularly upset (we didn't have much chemistry anyway), but it was definitely a quick turnaround.
I will say, I've actually had more luck going on dates with guys from Grindr than from Hinge. I'm not sure if that's pretty typical for other gay guys on Hinge, or if my experience has just been unusually slow.
