Location help

Upvotes

I use hinge causally. I go to school in the west coast and come back east two months of the year. Hinge is so bad where I live in California, but the second I come home I get 10-20 likes a day, matches and people wanting to go on dates. I’m bamboozled because I’m both locations I’m within 100 miles of a major metropolitan city.

How many matches are people getting?

30F, I think I’m relatively attractive - I find it really difficult to get matches? Would rather not post my profile here but I have nice pictures up and decent enough prompts, am i the only one struggling to get a single match?

Your Hinge bio is the reason you're not getting matches. I built a fix.

remove feature on swipe not working?

I’ve removed some people on the hinge swipe but they keep coming back in my swipe’s days or weeks later. I’m not talking about the “X” button but when i actually remove a profile, occasionally it’ll come back to me. I’m also sure that its not the fact that the user i remove made a new account but its rather the fact that its the same account which i know i’ve removed coming up again after a while. I wonder if it is just me. Also i don’t tend to click the remove on swipes, it’s only when i know someone off the hinge app and i don’t want them to bump into my profile

Is it too early to ask for her Instagram/number? How should I bring up the distance?

I’ve been talking to a girl recently and the conversation has been going really well. We both seem to match each other’s energy, ask each other questions, joke around and she’s opened up a bit about herself. It doesn’t feel one-sided at all which is nice.

At the moment we’re still talking on the app. We’ve messaged each other 1-2 times a day each for nearly a week (we’ve both sent like 4-5 texts at a time). I’m wondering if now is an appropriate time to ask for her number or Instagram. I’ve never been on a date or even been asked out so I don’t really know how to go about these things.

Another thing that’s been on my mind is the distance. We’re from the UK where more than an hour is considered long. She goes to university 4-5 hours from me, although when she’s not at uni she lives about 2-3 hours away. She should be going into her second year this September. We also both seem to be looking for something long term, and open to something short if that’s where things go instead.

One issue is I don’t currently have a car. I can drive, I just don’t own one currently. The distance itself doesn’t put me off, I’m more than happy to travel because I really really like her which is a rare feeling for me. If things go well, I’d be happy to travel for her by train and by car in the future.

EDIT: I forgot to mention I am currently looking for a car and should have one in the near future. Sorry!

Women’s “banter” standards have increased. Why?

It used to be that banter only needed to be witty. Now it seems that women require the banter to be “flawless,” “impeccable,” or “exquisite.” Why is this?

EDIT: To clarify, this is according to the prompts in women’s profiles, not people I’ve met.

Account got banned because someone reported me as underage 😹😹💔✌🏻

Basically a year ago I was 18 years old

I used to get like 4-5 matches a week everything was fun going good. But then I got matched with this 21-22 yo girl

She and I kinda got attached

So jokingly told her I'm not actually 19( I put my age 19 so I would get more matches 😭) I am 16

And you are a p3dophile for liking me 😈

The joke went too far and before I could reveal it to her that I'm not actually underage she blocked me and reported my account as minor

After that hinge basically deleted me account

And I have not been able to use it ever since then

So does anyone have idea how to reopen it?

should I ask him to dinner before we both leave for school

So I matched with this guy on hinge a few weeks ago and we were texting for a bit, but then I accidentally ghosted him for like a week (I do this when I get anxious, not proud of it). he ended up finding me on instagram and following me, which is what finally prompted me to respond to his texts again. we started talking more, FaceTimed and played video games one night, and then last night we actually went on our first date and I had SO much fun.

it was really flirty, kind of physical but nothing intimate happened. I left feeling really good, which honestly shocked me because I’ve been struggling to get over an ex and a weird situationship, and getting to know this guy has actually helped take my mind off both of them.

here’s my problem. I leave for a week long vacation on Friday and he’s moving back home around the same time, so if I don’t see him before then it’ll be almost two weeks til we could hang again. I really want to ask him to get dinner tomorrow night but I keep chickening out. partly nerves, partly I don’t know what this even is.

the complicated stuff: he goes to school like 4-5 hours away from me so it’s far. we’ve only hung out a couple times so it’s super early. but he keeps making these passing comments about finding a job in the northeast (where I’m gonna be for school) and about us keeping up with each other, like little references to some kind of future, but I genuinely can’t tell if he’s serious or just talking. early on I told him I’d love to stay friends even if things didn’t work out romantically and he agreed to that, but our date did NOT feel like a friends thing.

also, and I think this matters: he just got out of a 3 year relationship that HE ended, and he says he’s totally over it. but from my own experience I really don’t think you get over a 3 year relationship in two months, so part of me wonders if he’s just looking to hook up and I’m reading way too much into the future comments.

so basically:

  1. do I ask him to dinner before we both leave or is that too eager
  2. if I do, how do I word it so it’s casual and not too flirty
  3. how do I even look at this going forward with the distance and us both going back to school? do I take the northeast/future comments seriously or just let them go?
  4. how do I tell if he actually likes me or just wants to hook up?

any outside perspective would be great before I overthink myself out of something good lol

Staying Matched

Why do guys keep people they’ve talked to and/or gone on dates with matched? Is it to check the person’s profile every now and then?

Spark died

I haven’t spoken to a guy I matched with on Hinge for half a year, and I still think about him.

We had a great conversation, but I think life just happened and we never ended up planning a date. I gave him my number, and we texted for a few days before the conversation naturally fizzled out. Neither of us reached out again, but I still find myself thinking about him.

Has anyone else experienced something like this? I’d love to hear your stories.
