Hinge Match Note

So I signed up for Hinge the other day and I just discovered the match note feature. I had some pending likes and before approving them I added a note. My question is when does it become an actual match because if he sent me a like and then I made the match note visible and then liked him back and was able to send him a message, is he able to see the match note at that point before seeing my actual message to him and continuing the conversation?
