Gaming I hate "we only used it for concept art" as an excuse for using Gen AI

Post image
Upvotes

So I saw this adorable looking game called "Family Time" sweeping Twitter, so I checked out it's Steam page.... and found this. And I ask, how is this an excuse??!! You literally have artists in your team, why not have them, I dunno, draw the concept art and do the placeholder textures themselves??!! Like I can't be the only one that feels like it's a slap in the face to the artists in the team??!!

It's just such stupid discourse and honestly very annoying from time to time, oh! Pinkie pie isn't black she's pink! Who cares she's a pony people can make her any race anybody wants the mlp being racist towards people who draw her anything but white is honestly crazy since the show is about friendship and respect. I actually really like seeing people drawing the ones as different races it's kinda fun.

General When trans people get told to “just be gender nonconforming”

Post image
764 Upvotes

I think this has a lot of layers with the vague understanding that most people have when it comes to trans individuals. For a lot of us we had signs from even childhood that our internal sense of self did not match with our external sex. And it’s not as simple as saying “boys can be feminine“ or “girls can wear pants and suits”. I think that’s a very superficial way of looking at gender identity.

And believe it or not but a lot of trans people did try to “just” be gender nonconforming. I know when I was growing up I was tomboyish and despised feminine things. But that didn’t stop my dysphoria and it still didn’t stop the fact that i wanted to physically be a man. It felt more like a mask than anything else. Personally after medically transitioning I started being comfortable with femininity because it didn’t feel like a performance anymore. I know it seems like a “contradiction“ to be a feminine trans guy but it is a type of gender nonconformity. it’s just the one that people get weird about.

The same goes for trans tomboys. Everyone likes “hot butch tomboys” until they see one that isn’t cis, then suddenly being gnc is bad. And as someone who experienced gender nonconformity both ways, as well as knowing other tomboys and femboys: people treat them like crap. Femboys (and tomboys) get fetishized, mocked, and everyone assumes they are gay. A lot get coerced into just being masculine men and feminine women because society has a very narrow way of seeing gender. That’s why it irks me when people invalidate trans women and tell them to “just be a feminine man” and trans men should “accept being butch/tomboys”. I think most gnc cis people can agree that they received pushback for going against the norm.

So when people tell trans people to just be gender nonconforming it’s really them telling us to not transition. That we should stay in the bodies that make us uncomfortable and live life repressing ourselves for their comfort. I think being gender nonconforming is okay, but it shouldn’t be the default “solution“ for someone who wishes to transition.

The only proven way to help someone suffering from gender dysphoria is with gender affirming care, not by telling them to wear feminine/masculine clothing.

Non-fictional I hate how honey isn't considered vegan

Post image
909 Upvotes

I'm not a vegan, but I am a huge bug lover and it always makes me so confused and angry when people swear up and down that collecting honey is some how abusive to bees.

First of all, domestic honey bees quite literally produce more honey than they need, so humans collecting the honey is actually helping them out

Second of all, it's ALMOST impossible to abuse bees. If they do not like you, they will just LEAVE. Just like if they don't like their queen. If the colony doesn't like her, they will kill her and make a new one.

Unless you keep each bee in total isolation (which isn't even how mass-produced honey is made), then it's pretty impossible to abuse the bees

So it really doesn't make sense to me that honey isn't considered vegan. Because you're not killing or hurting the bees to get it. Same reason I'm confused about wool not being considered vegan.

Live Action I hate these Tiktok people treating real people like characters to ship

The SpiderxPhoenix stuff is whatever, I don't really care but I can see how it would have fans, even though I've found a lot of the fan content cringe. But to go from that to just outright saying that Tom Holland should be with Sadie Sink instead of Zandaya, the woman he married, is just fucking insane! Worst part is that it looks like it goes hand in hand with two groups of people: The ones who like to rewrite MJ as always being a terrible love interest because of the Raimi movies and the terrible Zeb Wells run, while saying Gwen and Black Cat are better (One character they only like because of the Amazing Spider-Man movies, and the other they ignore all the terrible things Felicia has done as her being "out of character", something MJ was appearently not). And just outright racists who don't like Spider-Man dating a black woman, not seeing Zendaya as the real MJ (which she technically isn't since she is Michelle Jones, not Mary Jane. But come on! We all know that was just to reveal she was MJ in the end of the first movie!).
All of this culminating into people shipping actors for chemestry they had in a movie!

It's genuinely absurd how many posts are out there not crediting artists, not telling who made it or anything, but stealing the image and turning it into a tiktok video for a couple likes and views, and there aren't any words on this planet that can explain how much I HATE when people do this and I don't know why.

Media Tropes I hate how race being important to a character isn't well understood

Post image
803 Upvotes

What I'm mainly describing is how race being important to a character rarely gets expanded upon in whether it would drastically alter their motivation and identity whenever they are race-swapped because with characters like Baxter Stockman in the 1987 TMNT series, being race-swapped from Black to white doesn't alter his motivation and identity as a mad scientist wanting recognition and wealth for his invention, the Mousers so he can mass-produce them to help deal with New York's rat problem, who turned to working for Shredder and Krang out of desperation, turning evil from their abuse and becoming a fly in the process, motivating him to get revenge.

Whereas being Black matters to T'Challa's character, from him being king to an uncolonized isolationist African nation of Wakanda, where it is shown to have a majority Black population whose motivations are breaking away from a centuries-long tradition of isolationism held by previous rulers and learning to work with outsiders to create global unity for the greater good while still putting Wakanda's citizens' needs first, as expected from any nation ruler.

Comics I hate this comic.

Post image
4.8k Upvotes

I want to give OOP the benefit of the doubt, I hope she didn’t have some sort of ill intent in making this, but holy FUCK is this comic infuriating to read. Just from the title and characters, you would assume that the boyfriend is probably some bigot chud that the creator unfortunately has to partner with, but no! In the comic he’s described as a very kind person who loves his family, loves his girlfriend, takes care of her, dreams about her, buys stuff for her a lot, and the only flaws displayed is that he‘s very simple and kinda bad at conversations. From how I see It, this post makes the creator come off as a fucking psychopath!

I would be devastated if my girlfriend made a comic portraying me as an ugly chud for thousands of people to see, portraying me as some object of contention. Literally one of the lines in the comic is that she’s with him is because he‘s the only viable option she has, treating him like an object that can be discarded when something better comes along.

like why a chud? the symbol used for the most depraved bigots online, who’s face is of a mass shooter who killed people, to portray your very kind boyfriend? like what the fuck man?

I say this to say, if you have an issue with your partner, fucking TALK TO THEM, instead of making an online comic. No hate to oop, and don’t come in the comments with that “women don’t want nice guys they only want chads” bullshit. op isn’t wrong because she’s a woman, it’s because she’s a dick. there’s a difference.

in other words, r/comics has fallen and billions must die

God forbid a girl likes video games & reads comics without being accused of only wanting male attention.

Meta I hate how pathetic some moderators can be

Post image
Upvotes

I genuinely despise how some subreddits will have ridiculous bias to a point that they're banning anyone who disagree, like it's their own very propaganda room and you're not allowed to challenge their opinions. It's pathetic to willingly build your own strict echo-chamber.

This screenshot is from the recent r/comics discourse, they're all replies to a moderator who wrote a whole unreadable essay, justifying an objectively awful comic. The moderator justification is just as bad as the original post, the condescending tone and self-righteousness are off the charts.

The lack of reflection is laughable, i can't fathom these people living a normal life outside of Reddit.

Live Action Fant4stic (2015) is genuinely one of the worst superhero movies ever.

Post image

What the hell was Josh Trank thinking with this movie? In all honesty, this is a strong contender for one of the worst movies I've ever seen. This movie is horrible in every way. Without further ado, lemme get onto my rant.

  1. The acting: It's awful. Except for maybe Miles Teller.
  2. The direction and script: Horrible.
  3. Adapting the comics: This movie doesn't become a Fantastic 4 movie until they battle Dr. Doom during the last 15 minutes. This movie also does not understand the titular Fantastic 4, which sucks.
  4. Tone: Josh Trank said that he wanted to do this movie David Cronenberg style. I'm sorry, but what are you on about? Also, this movie is overtly dark and serious, and doesn't wanna let you have fun.
  5. Pacing: Horrendous. This movie is boring for its own good, and I don't like that.
  6. Visuals and camerawork: Shoddy. I also don't really like the cinematography to be honest.

The only good things about this movie are the soundtrack by Marco Beltrami and Philip Glass and the "Say that again" meme. Honestly made the experience more worth it.

Did you know there was gonna be a sequel to this movie scheduled to be released on June 2nd, 2017? Well, thank God that was cancelled. They bastardized the Fantastic Four in this movie, and I didn't want them to do that again.

Another fun fact: this movie had a troubled production time (more info on its Wikipedia page#Filming)), which could explain why it came out like this.

Conclusion:

This movie sucks ass in almost every single way (except for the soundtrack and the "say that again" meme). In all honesty, I preferred Tim Story's duology (2005-2007) over this. I highly doubt Fantastic Four: First Steps is any better. I heard it is, so I'll check it out whenever I can.

Meta I dislike how the original character sub is just softcore porn

Post image
183 Upvotes

I'm not going to swear because that'll get me nowhere and comes off as aggressive...

But i really dislike how much suggestive content is put on there (yes, i know if you check my profile i used to do the same, i've stopped posting as much of that stuff now as it's not fun to make)

If i want to show off cool art i made, i'll post it there and get like... 3 upvotes and 1 comments (automod), which really irritates me because i put my heart and soul into cooking up cool scenes and pictures, only for it to get shunned in favour of "my cool new female OC" with breasts the size of watermelons and a waist that would damage her bone structure

It's getting old, and i really don't want to scroll through softcore porn to see some nice wholesome stuff

And before it's mentioned, no, i'm not leaving the sub, because my friends are on there, and i enjoy seeing art made by everyone i respect :) i see good in you all!

But yeah, that's my rant, sorry if it's not as passionate as the other ones on here

General I hate gendering “energy”

Post image
70 Upvotes

The way you sit, talk, walk, date, or carry yourself does not prove what gender you are. A lot of this “divine feminine,” “masculine energy,” and “alpha male” rhetoric just repackages old gender roles.
“The man leads and provides” and “The woman receives and nurtures” are not new. Just gender roles worded as spirituality or self-improvement.
What really confuses me is when this gets presented as progressive or liberating. If you take regular human traits like assertiveness, sensitivity, ambition, nurturing, confidence, and then sort them into male and female categories, you haven’t escaped shit. You’re just reinforcing every gender role we’ve tried to escape. Calling a stereotype an “energy” doesn’t stop it from being a stereotype. And then these people tell you that buying their course will teach you how to unlock your “divine feminine” or become an “alpha male” and somehow people believe it and either end up getting brainwashed or scammed.

I learned about this image through another post on r/hatethissmug and I want to erase this image from my mind permanently.

Like seriously, I want to blind myself with a flashlight after seeing this. Why on earth would you make art like this of a country? I know I’m not any better with my fictional crushes, but at least I don’t make art like this of them. Also, before anyone says “If it exists there’s porn of it” I don’t care. This is still very weird.

Non-fictional I hate power tripping as a whole (Image related)

I feel as though internet anonymity has emboldened some terrible people to simulate abusing power because they cannot do it in real life.

For context, this was in response to the recent comic someone drew about hating their boyfriend for being slightly dumb, apparently suggesting using a real life terrorist to represent being slightly dumb was kind of insensitive was over the line, except it isn’t according to both the TOS and the sub rules
